1 A nd as they are speaking unto the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the Sadducees --

Mentre essi parlavano al popolo, giunsero i sacerdoti, il capitano del tempio e i sadducei,

2 b eing grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the rising again out of the dead --

indignati perché essi insegnavano al popolo e annunciavano in Gesù la risurrezione dai morti.

3 a nd they laid hands upon them, and did put them in custody unto the morrow, for it was evening already;

Misero loro le mani addosso e li gettarono in prigione fino al giorno seguente, perché era già sera.

4 a nd many of those hearing the word did believe, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.

Ma molti di coloro che avevano udito la Parola credettero; e il numero degli uomini salì a circa cinquemila.

5 A nd it came to pass upon the morrow, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,

Il giorno seguente i loro capi, con gli anziani e gli scribi, si riunirono a Gerusalemme

6 a nd Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the chief priest,

con Anna, il sommo sacerdote, Caiafa, Giovanni, Alessandro e tutti quelli che facevano parte della famiglia dei sommi sacerdoti.

7 a nd having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, `In what power, or in what name did ye do this?'

E, fatti condurre in mezzo a loro Pietro e Giovanni, domandarono: «Con quale potere o in nome di chi avete fatto questo?»

8 T hen Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them: `Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

Allora Pietro, pieno di Spirito Santo, disse loro: «Capi del popolo e anziani,

9 i f we to-day are examined concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he hath been saved,

se oggi siamo esaminati a proposito di un beneficio fatto a un uomo infermo, per sapere com’è che quest’uomo è stato guarito,

10 b e it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye did crucify, whom God did raise out of the dead, in him hath this one stood by before you whole.

sia noto a tutti voi e a tutto il popolo d’Israele che questo è stato fatto nel nome di Gesù Cristo, il Nazareno, che voi avete crocifisso, e che Dio ha risuscitato dai morti; è per la sua virtù che quest’uomo compare guarito in presenza vostra.

11 ` This is the stone that was set at nought by you -- the builders, that became head of a corner;

Egli è “la pietra che è stata da voi costruttori rifiutata, ed è divenuta la pietra angolare”.

12 a nd there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under the heaven that hath been given among men, in which it behoveth us to be saved.'

In nessun altro è la salvezza; perché non vi è sotto il cielo nessun altro nome che sia stato dato agli uomini, per mezzo del quale noi dobbiamo essere salvati».

13 A nd beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are men unlettered and plebeian, they were wondering -- they were taking knowledge also of them that with Jesus they had been --

Essi, vista la franchezza di Pietro e di Giovanni, si meravigliavano, avendo capito che erano popolani senza istruzione; riconoscevano che erano stati con Gesù e,

14 a nd seeing the man standing with them who hath been healed, they had nothing to say against,

vedendo l’uomo che era stato guarito, lì presente con loro, non potevano dire niente in contrario.

15 a nd having commanded them to go away out of the sanhedrim, they took counsel with one another,

Ma, dopo aver ordinato loro di uscire dal sinedrio, si consultarono gli uni gli altri dicendo:

16 s aying, `What shall we do to these men? because that, indeed, a notable sign hath been done through them, to all those dwelling in Jerusalem manifest, and we are not able to deny;

«Che faremo a questi uomini? Che un evidente segno miracoloso sia stato fatto per mezzo di loro è noto a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, e noi non possiamo negarlo.

17 b ut that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them no more to speak in this name to any man.'

Ma, affinché ciò non si diffonda maggiormente tra il popolo, ordiniamo loro con minacce di non parlare più a nessuno nel nome di costui».

18 A nd having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the name of Jesus,

E, avendoli chiamati, imposero loro di non parlare né insegnare affatto nel nome di Gesù.

19 a nd Peter and John answering unto them said, `Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye;

Ma Pietro e Giovanni risposero loro: «Giudicate voi se è giusto, davanti a Dio, ubbidire a voi anziché a Dio.

20 f or we cannot but speak what we did see and hear.'

Quanto a noi, non possiamo non parlare delle cose che abbiamo viste e udite».

21 A nd they having further threatened, let them go, finding nothing how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which hath been done,

Ed essi, minacciatili di nuovo, li lasciarono andare, non trovando assolutamente come poterli punire, a causa del popolo; perché tutti glorificavano Dio per quello che era accaduto.

22 f or above forty years of age was the man upon whom had been done this sign of the healing.

Infatti l’uomo in cui questo miracolo della guarigione era stato compiuto aveva più di quarant’anni. La chiesa riunita in preghiera

23 A nd being let go, they went unto their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said unto them,

Rimessi quindi in libertà, vennero ai loro e riferirono tutte le cose che i capi dei sacerdoti e gli anziani avevano dette.

24 a nd they having heard, with one accord did lift up the voice unto God, and said, `Lord, thou God, who didst make the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that in them,

Udito ciò, essi alzarono concordi la voce a Dio e dissero: «Signore, tu sei colui che ha fatto il cielo, la terra, il mare e tutte le cose che sono in essi;

25 w ho, through the mouth of David thy servant, did say, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?

colui che mediante lo Spirito Santo ha detto per bocca del tuo servo Davide, nostro padre: “Perché si sono agitate le nazioni, e i popoli hanno meditato cose vane?

26 t he kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ;

I re della terra si sono sollevati, i prìncipi si sono riuniti insieme contro il Signore e contro il suo Cristo”.

27 f or gathered together of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou didst anoint, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,

Proprio in questa città, contro il tuo santo servitore Gesù, che tu hai unto, si sono radunati Erode e Ponzio Pilato, insieme con le nazioni e con tutto il popolo d’Israele,

28 t o do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel did determine before to come to pass.

per fare tutte le cose che la tua volontà e il tuo consiglio avevano prestabilito che avvenissero.

29 ` And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Thy servants with all freedom to speak Thy word,

Adesso, Signore, considera le loro minacce e concedi ai tuoi servi di annunciare la tua Parola in tutta franchezza,

30 i n the stretching forth of Thy hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the name of Thy holy child Jesus.'

31 A nd they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,

Dopo che ebbero pregato, il luogo dove erano riuniti tremò; e tutti furono riempiti dello Spirito Santo, e annunciavano la Parola di Dio con franchezza. I credenti di Gerusalemme mettono in comune i loro beni

32 a nd of the multitude of those who did believe the heart and the soul was one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were to them in common.

La moltitudine di quelli che avevano creduto era d’un sol cuore e di un’anima sola; non vi era chi dicesse sua alcuna delle cose che possedeva, ma tutto era in comune tra di loro.

33 A nd with great power were the apostles giving the testimony to the rising again of the Lord Jesus, great grace also was on them all,

Gli apostoli, con grande potenza, rendevano testimonianza della risurrezione del Signore Gesù; e grande grazia era sopra tutti loro.

34 f or there was not any one among them who did lack, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling, were bringing the prices of the thing sold,

Infatti non c’era nessun bisognoso tra di loro; perché tutti quelli che possedevano poderi o case li vendevano, portavano l’importo delle cose vendute

35 a nd were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as any one had need.

e lo deponevano ai piedi degli apostoli; poi veniva distribuito a ciascuno, secondo il bisogno.

36 A nd Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas -- which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort -- a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,

Ora Giuseppe, soprannominato dagli apostoli Barnaba (che tradotto vuol dire: «figlio di consolazione»), Levita, cipriota di nascita,

37 a field being his, having sold, brought the money and laid at the feet of the apostles.

avendo un campo, lo vendette e ne consegnò il ricavato, deponendolo ai piedi degli apostoli.
