1 A nd he said unto the disciples, `It is impossible for the stumbling blocks not to come, but wo through whom they come;

Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «È impossibile che non avvengano scandali, ma guai a colui per colpa del quale avvengono!

2 i t is more profitable to him if a weighty millstone is put round about his neck, and he hath been cast into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to stumble.

Sarebbe meglio per lui che una macina da mulino gli fosse messa al collo e fosse gettato nel mare, piuttosto che scandalizzare uno solo di questi piccoli.

3 ` Take heed to yourselves, and, if thy brother may sin in regard to thee, rebuke him, and if he may reform, forgive him,

State attenti a voi stessi! Se tuo fratello pecca, riprendilo; e se si ravvede, perdonalo.

4 a nd if seven times in the day he may sin against thee, and seven times in the day may turn back to thee, saying, I reform; thou shalt forgive him.'

Se ha peccato contro di te sette volte al giorno, e sette volte torna da te e ti dice: “Mi pento”, perdonalo».

5 A nd the apostles said to the Lord, `Add to us faith;'

Allora gli apostoli dissero al Signore: «Aumentaci la fede!»

6 a nd the Lord said, `If ye had faith as a grain of mustard, ye would have said to this sycamine, Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.

Il Signore disse: «Se aveste fede quanto un granello di senape, potreste dire a questo sicomoro: “Sràdicati e trapiàntati nel mare”, e vi ubbidirebbe. Dovere del servo

7 ` But, who is he of you -- having a servant ploughing or feeding -- who, to him having come in out of the field, will say, Having come near, recline at meat?

«Se uno di voi ha un servo che ara o bada alle pecore, gli dirà forse, quando quello torna a casa dai campi: “Vieni subito a metterti a tavola”?

8 b ut will not say to him, Prepare what I may sup, and having girded thyself about, minister to me, till I eat and drink, and after these things thou shalt eat and drink?

Non gli dirà invece: “Preparami la cena, rimbòccati le vesti e servimi finché io abbia mangiato e bevuto, poi mangerai e berrai tu”?

9 H ath he favour to that servant because he did the things directed? I think not.

Si ritiene forse obbligato verso il servo perché ha fatto quello che gli era stato comandato?

10 ` So also ye, when ye may have done all the things directed you, say -- We are unprofitable servants, because that which we owed to do -- we have done.'

Così, anche voi, quando avrete fatto tutto ciò che vi è comandato, dite: “Noi siamo servi inutili; abbiamo fatto quello che eravamo in obbligo di fare”». Gesù guarisce dieci lebbrosi

11 A nd it came to pass, in his going on to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee,

Nel recarsi a Gerusalemme, Gesù passava sui confini della Samaria e della Galilea.

12 a nd he entering into a certain village, there met him ten leprous men, who stood afar off,

E mentre entrava in un villaggio, gli vennero incontro dieci uomini lebbrosi, i quali si fermarono a distanza

13 a nd they lifted up the voice, saying, `Jesus, master, deal kindly with us;'

e alzarono la voce, dicendo: «Gesù, Maestro, abbi pietà di noi!»

14 a nd having seen, he said to them, `Having gone on, shew yourselves to the priests;' and it came to pass, in their going, they were cleansed,

Vedutili, egli disse loro: «Andate a mostrarvi ai sacerdoti». E, mentre andavano, furono purificati.

15 a nd one of them having seen that he was healed did turn back, with a loud voice glorifying God,

Uno di loro, vedendo che era guarito, tornò indietro, glorificando Dio ad alta voce;

16 a nd he fell upon face at his feet, giving thanks to him, and he was a Samaritan.

e si gettò ai piedi di Gesù con la faccia a terra, ringraziandolo. Or questi era un Samaritano.

17 A nd Jesus answering said, `Were not the ten cleansed, and the nine -- where?

Gesù, rispondendo, disse: «I dieci non sono stati tutti purificati? Dove sono gli altri nove?

18 T here were not found who did turn back to give glory to God, except this alien;'

Non si è trovato nessuno che sia tornato per dar gloria a Dio tranne questo straniero?»

19 a nd he said to him, `Having risen, be going on, thy faith hath saved thee.'

E gli disse: «Àlzati e va’; la tua fede ti ha salvato».

20 A nd having been questioned by the Pharisees, when the reign of God doth come, he answered them, and said, `The reign of God doth not come with observation;

Interrogato poi dai farisei sul quando verrebbe il regno di Dio, rispose loro: «Il regno di Dio non viene in modo da attirare gli sguardi; né si dirà:

21 n or shall they say, Lo, here; or lo, there; for lo, the reign of God is within you.'

“Eccolo qui”, o: “Eccolo là”; perché, ecco, il regno di Dio è in mezzo a voi ». Gesù annuncia la sua seconda venuta

22 A nd he said unto his disciples, `Days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and ye shall not behold;

Disse pure ai suoi discepoli: «Verranno giorni in cui desidererete vedere anche uno solo dei giorni del Figlio dell’uomo, e non lo vedrete.

23 a nd they shall say to you, Lo, here; or lo, there; ye may not go away, nor follow;

E vi si dirà: “Eccolo là”, {o:} “eccolo qui”. Non andate, e non li seguite;

24 f or as the lightning that is lightening out of the one under heaven, to the other part under heaven doth shine, so shall be also the Son of Man in his day;

perché com’è il lampo che balenando risplende da una estremità all’altra del cielo, così sarà il Figlio dell’uomo {nel suo giorno}.

25 a nd first it behoveth him to suffer many things, and to be rejected by this generation.

Ma prima bisogna che egli soffra molte cose e sia respinto da questa generazione.

26 ` And, as it came to pass in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man;

Come avvenne ai giorni di Noè, così pure avverrà ai giorni del Figlio dell’uomo.

27 t hey were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the deluge came, and destroyed all;

Si mangiava, si beveva, si prendeva moglie, si andava a marito, fino al giorno in cui Noè entrò nell’arca, e venne il diluvio che li fece perire tutti.

28 i n like manner also, as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;

Similmente, come avvenne ai giorni di Lot, si mangiava, si beveva, si comprava, si vendeva, si piantava, si costruiva;

29 a nd on the day Lot went forth from Sodom, He rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed all.

ma nel giorno in cui Lot uscì da Sodoma piovve dal cielo fuoco e zolfo, che li fece perire tutti.

30 ` According to these things it shall be, in the day the Son of Man is revealed;

Lo stesso avverrà nel giorno in cui il Figlio dell’uomo sarà manifestato.

31 i n that day, he who shall be on the house top, and his vessels in the house, let him not come down to take them away; and he in the field, in like manner, let him not turn backward;

In quel giorno, chi sarà sulla terrazza e avrà le sue cose in casa, non scenda a prenderle; così pure chi sarà nei campi non torni indietro.

32 r emember the wife of Lot.

Ricordatevi della moglie di Lot.

33 W hoever may seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whoever may lose it, shall preserve it.

Chi cercherà di salvare la sua vita la perderà, ma chi la perderà la preserverà.

34 ` I say to you, In that night, there shall be two men on one couch, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left;

Io vi dico: in quella notte, due saranno in un letto; l’uno sarà preso e l’altro lasciato.

35 t wo women shall be grinding at the same place together, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left;

Due donne macineranno assieme; l’una sarà presa e l’altra lasciata.

36 t wo men shall be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other left.'

37 A nd they answering say to him, `Where, sir?' and he said to them, `Where the body, there will the eagles be gathered together.'

I discepoli risposero: «Dove sarà, Signore?» Ed egli disse loro: «Dove sarà il corpo, là pure si raduneranno le aquile ».
