1 A nd the third day a marriage happened in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there,

Tre giorni dopo ci fu un matrimonio in Cana di Galilea, e la madre di Gesù era là.

2 a nd also Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage;

Anche Gesù fu invitato con i suoi discepoli al matrimonio.

3 a nd wine having failed, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, `Wine they have not;'

Venuto a mancare il vino, la madre di Gesù gli disse: «Non hanno più vino».

4 J esus saith to her, `What -- to me and to thee, woman? not yet is mine hour come.'

Gesù le disse: «Che c’è fra me e te, o donna? L’ora mia non è ancora venuta».

5 H is mother saith to the ministrants, `Whatever he may say to you -- do.'

Sua madre disse ai servitori: «Fate tutto quel che vi dirà».

6 A nd there were there six water-jugs of stone, placed according to the purifying of the Jews, holding each two or three measures.

C’erano là sei recipienti di pietra, del tipo adoperato per la purificazione dei Giudei, i quali contenevano ciascuno due o tre misure.

7 J esus saith to them, `Fill the water-jugs with water;' and they filled them -- unto the brim;

Gesù disse loro: «Riempite d’acqua i recipienti». Ed essi li riempirono fino all’orlo.

8 a nd he saith to them, `Draw out, now, and bear to the director of the apartment;' and they bare.

Poi disse loro: «Adesso attingete e portatene al maestro di tavola». Ed essi gliene portarono.

9 A nd as the director of the apartment tasted the water become wine, and knew not whence it is, (but the ministrants knew, who have drawn the water,) the director of the feast doth call the bridegroom,

Quando il maestro di tavola ebbe assaggiato l’acqua che era diventata vino (egli non ne conosceva la provenienza, ma la sapevano bene i servitori che avevano attinto l’acqua), chiamò lo sposo e gli disse:

10 a nd saith to him, `Every man, at first, the good wine doth set forth; and when they may have drunk freely, then the inferior; thou didst keep the good wine till now.'

«Ognuno serve prima il vino buono, e quando si è bevuto abbondantemente, il meno buono; tu, invece, hai tenuto il vino buono fino ad ora».

11 T his beginning of the signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him;

Gesù fece questo primo dei suoi segni in Cana di Galilea, e manifestò la sua gloria, e i suoi discepoli credettero in lui.

12 a fter this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and there they remained not many days.

Dopo questo, scese a Capernaum egli con sua madre, con i suoi fratelli e i suoi discepoli, e rimasero là alcuni giorni. Gesù nel tempio

13 A nd the passover of the Jews was nigh, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

La Pasqua dei Giudei era vicina, e Gesù salì a Gerusalemme.

14 a nd he found in the temple those selling oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the money-changers sitting,

Trovò nel tempio quelli che vendevano buoi, pecore, colombi, e i cambiavalute seduti.

15 a nd having made a whip of small cords, he put all forth out of the temple, also the sheep, and the oxen; and of the money-changers he poured out the coins, and the tables he overthrew,

Fatta una sferza di cordicelle, scacciò tutti fuori dal tempio, pecore e buoi; sparpagliò il denaro dei cambiavalute, rovesciò le tavole,

16 a nd to those selling the doves he said, `Take these things hence; make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.'

e a quelli che vendevano i colombi disse: «Portate via di qui queste cose; smettete di fare della casa del Padre mio una casa di mercato».

17 A nd his disciples remembered that it is written, `The zeal of Thy house did eat me up;'

E i suoi discepoli si ricordarono che sta scritto: «Lo zelo per la tua casa mi consuma ».

18 t he Jews then answered and said to him, `What sign dost thou shew to us -- that thou dost these things?'

I Giudei allora presero a dirgli: «Quale segno ci mostri per fare queste cose?»

19 J esus answered and said to them, `Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.'

Gesù rispose loro: «Distruggete questo tempio, e in tre giorni lo farò risorgere!»

20 T he Jews, therefore, said, `Forty and six years was this sanctuary building, and wilt thou in three days raise it up?'

Allora i Giudei dissero: «Quarantasei anni è durata la costruzione di questo tempio e tu lo faresti risorgere in tre giorni?»

21 b ut he spake concerning the sanctuary of his body;

Ma egli parlava del tempio del suo corpo.

22 w hen, then, he was raised out of the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this to them, and they believed the Writing, and the word that Jesus said.

Quando dunque fu risorto dai morti, i suoi discepoli si ricordarono che egli aveva detto questo, e credettero alla Scrittura e alla parola che Gesù aveva detta.

23 A nd as he was in Jerusalem, in the passover, in the feast, many believed in his name, beholding his signs that he was doing;

Mentre egli era in Gerusalemme, alla festa di Pasqua, molti credettero nel suo nome vedendo i segni che egli faceva.

24 a nd Jesus himself was not trusting himself to them, because of his knowing all,

Ma Gesù non si fidava di loro, perché conosceva tutti,

25 a nd because he had no need that any should testify concerning man, for he himself was knowing what was in man.

e perché non aveva bisogno della testimonianza di nessuno sull’uomo, poiché egli stesso conosceva quello che era nell’uomo.
