1 A nd they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gadarenes,

Giunsero all’altra riva del mare, nel paese dei Geraseni.

2 a nd he having come forth out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

Appena Gesù fu smontato dalla barca, gli venne subito incontro dai sepolcri un uomo posseduto da uno spirito immondo,

3 w ho had his dwelling in the tombs, and not even with chains was any one able to bind him,

il quale aveva nei sepolcri la sua dimora; nessuno poteva più tenerlo legato neppure con una catena.

4 b ecause that he many times with fetters and chains had been bound, and pulled in pieces by him had been the chains, and the fetters broken in pieces, and none was able to tame him,

Poiché spesso era stato legato con ceppi e con catene, ma le catene erano state da lui rotte e i ceppi spezzati, e nessuno aveva la forza di domarlo.

5 a nd always, night and day, in the mountains, and in the tombs he was, crying and cutting himself with stones.

Di continuo, notte e giorno, andava tra i sepolcri e su per i monti, urlando e percuotendosi con delle pietre.

6 A nd, having seen Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed before him,

Quando vide Gesù da lontano, corse, gli si prostrò davanti

7 a nd having called with a loud voice, he said, `What -- to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God the Most High? I adjure thee by God, mayest thou not afflict me!'

e a gran voce disse: «Che c’è fra me e te, Gesù, Figlio del Dio altissimo? Io ti scongiuro, in nome di Dio, di non tormentarmi».

8 ( for he said to him, `Come forth, spirit unclean, out of the man,')

Gesù, infatti, gli diceva: «Spirito immondo, esci da quest’uomo!»

9 a nd he was questioning him, `What thy name?' and he answered, saying, `Legion my name, because we are many;'

Gesù gli domandò: «Qual è il tuo nome?» Ed egli gli disse: «Il mio nome è Legione, perché siamo molti».

10 a nd he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region.

E lo pregava con insistenza che non li mandasse via dal paese.

11 A nd there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding,

C’era là un grande branco di porci che pascolava sul monte.

12 a nd all the demons did call upon him, saying, `Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter;'

lo pregarono dicendo: «Mandaci nei porci, perché entriamo in essi».

13 a nd immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea -- and they were about two thousand -- and they were choked in the sea.

Egli lo permise loro. Gli spiriti immondi, usciti, entrarono nei porci, e il branco si gettò giù a precipizio nel mare. Erano circa duemila e affogarono nel mare.

14 A nd those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;

E quelli che li custodivano fuggirono e portarono la notizia in città e per la campagna; la gente andò a vedere ciò che era avvenuto.

15 a nd they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded -- him having had the legion -- and they were afraid;

Vennero da Gesù e videro l’indemoniato seduto, vestito e sano di mente, lui che aveva avuto la legione; e s’impaurirono.

16 a nd those having seen, declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;

Quelli che avevano visto raccontarono loro ciò che era avvenuto all’indemoniato e il fatto dei porci.

17 a nd they began to call upon him to go away from their borders.

Ed essi cominciarono a pregare Gesù che se ne andasse via dai loro confini.

18 A nd he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him,

Com’egli saliva sulla barca, l’uomo che era stato indemoniato lo pregava di poter stare con lui.

19 a nd Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, `Go away to thy house, unto thine own, and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;

Gesù non glielo permise, ma gli disse: «Va’ a casa tua dai tuoi e racconta loro le grandi cose che il Signore ti ha fatte, e come ha avuto pietà di te».

20 a nd he went away, and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus did to him, and all were wondering.

Ed egli se ne andò e cominciò a proclamare nella Decapoli le grandi cose che Gesù aveva fatte per lui. E tutti si meravigliavano. Gesù guarisce una donna e risuscita la figlia di Iairo

21 A nd Jesus having passed over in the boat again to the other side, there was gathered a great multitude to him, and he was near the sea,

Gesù passò di nuovo {in barca} all’altra riva, e una gran folla si radunò attorno a lui; ed egli stava presso il mare.

22 a nd lo, there doth come one of the chiefs of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and having seen him, he doth fall at his feet,

E uno dei capi della sinagoga, chiamato Iairo, venne e, vedutolo, gli si gettò ai piedi

23 a nd he was calling upon him much, saying -- `My little daughter is at the last extremity -- that having come, thou mayest lay on her hands, so that she may be saved, and she shall live;'

e lo pregò con insistenza, dicendo: «La mia bambina sta morendo. Vieni a posare le mani su di lei, affinché sia salva e viva».

24 a nd he went away with him. And there was following him a great multitude, and they were thronging him,

Gesù andò con lui, e molta gente lo seguiva e lo stringeva da ogni parte.

25 a nd a certain woman, having an issue of blood twelve years,

Una donna, che aveva perdite di sangue da dodici anni,

26 a nd many things having suffered under many physicians, and having spent all that she had, and having profited nothing, but rather having come to the worse,

e che molto aveva sofferto da molti medici e aveva speso tutto ciò che possedeva senza nessun giovamento, anzi era piuttosto peggiorata,

27 h aving heard about Jesus, having come in the multitude behind, she touched his garment,

avendo udito parlare di Gesù, venne dietro tra la folla e gli toccò la veste, perché diceva:

28 f or she said -- `If even his garments I may touch, I shall be saved;'

«Se riesco a toccare almeno le sue vesti, sarò salva».

29 a nd immediately was the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in the body that she hath been healed of the plague.

In quell’istante la sua emorragia ristagnò; ed ella sentì nel suo corpo di essere guarita da quella malattia.

30 A nd immediately Jesus having known in himself that out of him power had gone forth, having turned about in the multitude, said, `Who did touch my garments?'

Subito Gesù, conscio della potenza che era emanata da lui, voltatosi indietro verso la folla, disse: «Chi mi ha toccato le vesti?»

31 a nd his disciples said to him, `Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and thou sayest, `Who did touch me!'

I suoi discepoli gli dissero: «Tu vedi come la folla ti si stringe attorno e dici: “Chi mi ha toccato?”».

32 A nd he was looking round to see her who did this,

Ed egli guardava attorno per vedere colei che aveva fatto questo.

33 a nd the woman, having been afraid, and trembling, knowing what was done on her, came, and fell down before him, and told him all the truth,

Ma la donna paurosa e tremante, ben sapendo quello che le era accaduto, venne, gli si gettò ai piedi e gli disse tutta la verità.

34 a nd he said to her, `Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go away in peace, and be whole from thy plague.'

Ed egli le disse: «Figliola, la tua fede ti ha salvata; va’ in pace e sii guarita dal tuo male».

35 A s he is yet speaking, there come from the chief of the synagogue's, saying -- `Thy daughter did die, why still dost thou harass the Teacher?'

Mentre egli parlava ancora, vennero dalla casa del capo della sinagoga, dicendo: «Tua figlia è morta; perché incomodi ancora il Maestro?»

36 A nd Jesus immediately, having heard the word that is spoken, saith to the chief of the synagogue, `Be not afraid, only believe.'

Ma Gesù, udito quel che si diceva, disse al capo della sinagoga: «Non temere; soltanto abbi fede!»

37 A nd he did not suffer any one to follow with him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James;

E non permise a nessuno di accompagnarlo, tranne che a Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni, fratello di Giacomo.

38 a nd he cometh to the house of the chief of the synagogue, and seeth a tumult, much weeping and wailing;

Giunsero a casa del capo della sinagoga; ed egli vide una gran confusione e gente che piangeva e urlava.

39 a nd having gone in he saith to them, `Why do ye make a tumult, and weep? the child did not die, but doth sleep;

Entrato, disse loro: «Perché fate tanto strepito e piangete? La bambina non è morta, ma dorme».

40 a nd they were laughing at him. And he, having put all forth, doth take the father of the child, and the mother, and those with him, and goeth in where the child is lying,

Ed essi ridevano di lui. Ma egli li mise tutti fuori, prese con sé il padre e la madre della bambina e quelli che erano con lui, ed entrò là dove era la bambina.

41 a nd, having taken the hand of the child, he saith to her, `Talitha cumi;' which is, being interpreted, `Damsel (I say to thee), arise.'

E, presala per mano, le disse: « Talità cum! », che tradotto vuol dire: «Ragazza, ti dico: àlzati!»

42 A nd immediately the damsel arose, and was walking, for she was twelve years; and they were amazed with a great amazement,

Subito la ragazza si alzò e camminava, perché aveva dodici anni. E furono subito presi da grande stupore;

43 a nd he charged them much, that no one may know this thing, and he said that there be given to her to eat.

ed egli comandò loro con insistenza che nessuno lo venisse a sapere; e disse che le fosse dato da mangiare.
