1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, come hath Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, he and all his force, against Jerusalem, and encampeth against it, and buildeth against it a fortification round about.

L’anno nono del regno di Sedechia, il decimo giorno del decimo mese, Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, venne con tutto il suo esercito contro Gerusalemme; si accampò di fronte a essa e le costruì attorno delle trincee.

2 A nd the city entereth into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah,

La città fu assediata fino all’undicesimo anno del re Sedechia.

3 o n the ninth of the month -- when the famine is severe in the city, and there hath not been bread for the people of the land,

Il nono giorno del quarto mese la carestia era grave nella città; e non c’era più pane per il popolo del paese.

4 t hen the city is broken up, and all the men of war by night the way of the gate, between the two walls that by the garden of the king, and the Chaldeans against the city round about, and goeth the way of the plain.

Allora venne fatta una breccia nelle mura della città. Tutta la gente di guerra fuggì, di notte, per la via della porta fra le due mura, in prossimità del giardino del re, mentre i Caldei stringevano la città da ogni parte; e il re prese la via della pianura,

5 A nd the force of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake him in the plains of Jericho, and all his force have been scattered from him;

ma l’esercito dei Caldei lo inseguì, lo raggiunse nella pianura di Gerico e tutto l’esercito di lui si disperse e lo abbandonò.

6 a nd they seize the king, and bring him up unto the king of Babylon, to Riblah, and they speak with him -- judgment.

Allora i Caldei presero il re e lo condussero al re di Babilonia a Ribla, dove fu pronunciata la sentenza contro di lui.

7 A nd the sons of Zedekiah they have slaughtered before his eyes, and the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and bindeth him with brazen fetters, and they bring him to Babylon.

8 A nd in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month (it the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), hath Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners, servant of the king of Babylon, come to Jerusalem,

Il settimo giorno del quinto mese – era il diciannovesimo anno di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia – Nebuzaradan, capitano della guardia del corpo, funzionario del re di Babilonia, giunse a Gerusalemme,

9 a nd he burneth the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, yea, every great house he hath burned with fire;

bruciò il tempio del Signore e il palazzo del re e diede alle fiamme tutte le case di Gerusalemme, tutte le case dei grandi personaggi.

10 a nd the walls of Jerusalem round about have all the forces of the Chaldeans, who with the chief of the executioners, broken down.

Tutto l’esercito dei Caldei, che era con il capitano della guardia, abbatté tutte le mura di Gerusalemme.

11 A nd the rest of the people, those left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude, hath Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners removed;

Nebuzaradan, capitano della guardia, deportò i superstiti che erano rimasti nella città, i fuggiaschi che si erano arresi al re di Babilonia e il resto della popolazione.

12 a nd of the poor of the land hath the chief of the executioners left for vine-dressers and for husbandmen.

Il capitano della guardia non lasciò che alcuni dei più poveri del paese a coltivare le vigne e i campi.

13 A nd the pillars of brass that in the house of Jehovah, and the bases, and the sea of brass, that in the house of Jehovah, have the Chaldeans broken in pieces, and bear away their brass to Babylon.

I Caldei spezzarono le colonne di bronzo che erano nella casa del Signore, le basi e il Mare di bronzo che era nella casa del Signore, e ne portarono via il metallo a Babilonia.

14 A nd the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they minister they have taken,

Presero le pignatte, le palette, i coltelli, le coppe e tutti gli utensili di bronzo con i quali si faceva il servizio.

15 a nd the fire-pans, and the bowls that wholly of silver, hath the chief of the executioners taken.

Il capitano della guardia prese pure i bracieri, le bacinelle: ciò che era d’oro e ciò che era d’argento.

16 T he two pillars, the one sea, and the bases that Solomon made for the house of Jehovah, there was no weighing of the brass of all these vessels;

Quanto alle due colonne, al Mare e alle basi che Salomone aveva fatte per la casa del Signore, il metallo di tutti questi oggetti aveva un peso incalcolabile.

17 e ighteen cubits the height of the one pillar, and the chapiter on it of brass, and the height of the chapiter three cubits, and the net and the pomegranates on the chapiter round about -- the whole of brass; and like these hath the second pillar, with the net.

Ciascuna di queste colonne era alta diciotto cubiti e aveva sopra un capitello di bronzo alto tre cubiti; e attorno al capitello c’erano un reticolato e delle melagrane, ogni cosa di bronzo; così era la seconda colonna, munita pure di reticolato.

18 A nd the chief of the executioners taketh Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold,

Il capitano della guardia prese Seraia, il sommo sacerdote, Sofonia, il secondo sacerdote,

19 a nd out of the city he hath taken a certain eunuch who is appointed over the men of war, and five men of those seeing the king's face who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host, who mustereth the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who are found in the city,

e i tre custodi della porta d’ingresso, e prese nella città un eunuco che comandava la gente di guerra, cinque uomini dei consiglieri intimi del re che furono trovati nella città, il segretario del capo dell’esercito che arruolava il popolo del paese e sessanta privati che furono anch’essi trovati nella città.

20 a nd Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners taketh them, and causeth them to go unto the king of Babylon, to Libnah,

Nebuzaradan, capitano della guardia, li prese e li condusse dal re di Babilonia a Ribla;

21 a nd the king of Babylon smiteth them, and putteth them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removeth Judah from off its land.

e il re di Babilonia li fece uccidere a Ribla, nel paese di Camat. Ghedalia, governatore di Giuda Così la popolazione di Giuda fu deportata lontano dal suo paese.

22 A nd the people that is left in the land of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath left -- he appointeth over them Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan.

Quanto al popolo che rimase nel paese di Giuda, lasciatovi da Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, il re pose a governarli Ghedalia, figlio di Aicam, figlio di Safan.

23 A nd all the heads of the forces hear -- they and the men -- that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah, and they come in unto Gedaliah, to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maachathite -- they and their men;

Quando tutti i capitani della gente di guerra e i loro uomini udirono che il re di Babilonia aveva fatto Ghedalia governatore, si recarono da Ghedalia a Mispa: erano Ismael figlio di Netania, Iocanan figlio di Carea, Seraia figlio di Tanumet da Netofa, Iaazania, figlio di uno di Maaca, con la loro gente.

24 a nd Gedaliah sweareth to them, and to their men, and saith to them, `Be not afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans, dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it is good for you.'

Ghedalia fece a loro e alla loro gente un giuramento, dicendo: «Non v’incutano timore i funzionari dei Caldei; restate nel paese, servite il re di Babilonia e vi troverete bene».

25 A nd it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nathaniah, son of Elishama of the seed of the kingdom, and ten men with him, and they smite Gedaliah, and he dieth, and the Jews and the Chaldeans who have been with him in Mizpah.

Ma il settimo mese, Ismael, figlio di Netania, figlio di Elisama, di stirpe reale, venne con dieci uomini e colpirono a morte Ghedalia insieme con i Giudei e con i Caldei che erano con lui a Mispa.

26 A nd all the people rise, from small even unto great, and the heads of the forces, and come in to Egypt, for they have been afraid of the presence of the Chaldeans.

E tutto il popolo, piccoli e grandi, e i capitani della gente di guerra partirono e andarono in Egitto, perché avevano paura dei Caldei. Ioiachin, re di Giuda, rimesso in libertà

27 A nd it cometh to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and seventh of the month hath Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reigning, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, out of the house of restraint,

Il trentasettesimo anno dalla deportazione di Ioiachin, re di Giuda, il ventisettesimo giorno del dodicesimo mese, Evil-Merodac, re di Babilonia, l’anno stesso che cominciò a regnare, fece grazia a Ioiachin, re di Giuda, e lo fece uscire di prigione;

28 a nd speaketh with him good things and putteth his throne above the throne of the kings who with him in Babylon,

gli parlò benevolmente e mise il suo trono più in alto di quello degli altri re che erano con lui a Babilonia.

29 a nd hath changed the garments of his restraint, and he hath eaten bread continually before him all days of his life,

Gli fece cambiare le vesti di prigione; e Ioiachin mangiò sempre a tavola con lui per tutto il tempo che egli visse.

30 a nd his allowance -- a continual allowance -- hath been given to him from the king, the matter of a day in its day, all days of his life.

Il re provvide continuamente al suo mantenimento quotidiano, fintanto che visse.
