1 A nd it came to pass in Iconium, that they did enter together into the synagogue of the Jews, and spake, so that there believed both of Jews and Greeks a great multitude;

Anche a Iconio Paolo e Barnaba entrarono nella sinagoga dei Giudei e parlarono in modo tale che una gran folla di Giudei e di Greci credette.

2 a nd the unbelieving Jews did stir up and made evil the souls of the nations against the brethren;

Ma i Giudei che avevano rifiutato di credere aizzarono e inasprirono gli animi dei pagani contro i fratelli.

3 l ong time, indeed, therefore, did they abide speaking boldly in the Lord, who is testifying to the word of His grace, and granting signs and wonders to come to pass through their hands.

Tuttavia rimasero là per molto tempo, predicando con franchezza e confidando nel Signore che rendeva testimonianza alla Parola della sua grazia e concedeva che per mano loro avvenissero segni e prodigi.

4 A nd the multitude of the city was divided, and some were with the Jews, and some with the apostles,

5 a nd when there was a purpose both of the nations and of the Jews with their rulers to use despitefully, and to stone them,

6 t hey having become aware, did flee to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and to the region round about,

7 a nd there they were proclaiming good news.

8 A nd a certain man in Lystra, impotent in the feet, was sitting, being lame from the womb of his mother -- who never had walked,

A Listra c’era un uomo che, paralizzato ai piedi, se ne stava sempre seduto e, siccome era zoppo fin dalla nascita, non aveva mai potuto camminare.

9 t his one was hearing Paul speaking, who, having stedfastly beheld him, and having seen that he hath faith to be saved,

Egli udì parlare Paolo, il quale, fissati gli occhi su di lui e vedendo che aveva fede per essere guarito,

10 s aid with a loud voice, `Stand up on thy feet upright;' and he was springing and walking,

11 a nd the multitudes having seen what Paul did, did lift up their voice, in the speech of Lycaonia, saying, `The gods, having become like men, did come down unto us;'

La folla, veduto ciò che Paolo aveva fatto, alzò la voce, dicendo in lingua licaonica: «Gli dèi hanno preso forma umana e sono scesi fino a noi».

12 t hey were calling also Barnabas Zeus, and Paul Hermes, since he was the leader in speaking.

E chiamavano Barnaba, Giove e Paolo, Mercurio, perché era lui che teneva il discorso.

13 A nd the priest of the Zeus that is before their city, oxen and garlands unto the porches having brought, with the multitudes did wish to sacrifice,

Il sacerdote di Giove, il cui tempio era all’entrata della città, condusse davanti alle porte tori e ghirlande e voleva offrire un sacrificio con la folla.

14 a nd having heard, the apostles Barnabas and Paul, having rent their garments, did spring into the multitude, crying

Ma gli apostoli Barnaba e Paolo, udito ciò, si strapparono le vesti e balzarono in mezzo alla folla, gridando:

15 a nd saying, `Men, why these things do ye? and we are men like-affected with you, proclaiming good news to you, from these vanities to turn unto the living God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all the things in them;

«Uomini, perché fate queste cose? Anche noi siamo esseri umani come voi; e vi predichiamo che da queste vanità vi convertiate al Dio vivente, che ha fatto il cielo, la terra, il mare e tutte le cose che sono in essi.

16 w ho in the past generations did suffer all the nations to go on in their ways,

Egli, nelle generazioni passate, ha lasciato che ogni popolo seguisse la propria via,

17 t hough, indeed, without witness He did not leave himself, doing good -- from heaven giving rains to us, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness;'

senza però lasciare se stesso privo di testimonianza, facendo del bene, mandandovi dal cielo pioggia e stagioni fruttifere e saziando i vostri cuori di cibo e di letizia».

18 a nd these things saying, scarcely did they restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.

E con queste parole riuscirono a stento a impedire che la folla offrisse loro un sacrificio. Lapidazione di Paolo a Listra

19 A nd there came thither, from Antioch and Iconium, Jews, and they having persuaded the multitudes, and having stoned Paul, drew him outside of the city, having supposed him to be dead;

Allora giunsero da Antiochia e da Iconio alcuni Giudei, i quali sobillarono la folla; essi lapidarono Paolo e lo trascinarono fuori dalla città, credendolo morto.

20 a nd the disciples having surrounded him, having risen he entered into the city, and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe.

Ma mentre i discepoli venivano attorno a lui, egli si rialzò ed entrò nella città. Evangelizzazione a Derba e ritorno ad Antiochia Il giorno seguente partì con Barnaba per Derba.

21 H aving proclaimed good news also to that city, and having discipled many, they turned back to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch,

E, dopo aver evangelizzato quella città e fatto molti discepoli, se ne tornarono a Listra, a Iconio e ad Antiochia,

22 c onfirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting to remain in the faith, and that through many tribulations it behoveth us to enter into the reign of God,

fortificando gli animi dei discepoli ed esortandoli a perseverare nella fede, dicendo loro che dobbiamo entrare nel regno di Dio attraverso molte tribolazioni.

23 a nd having appointed to them by vote elders in every assembly, having prayed with fastings, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

Dopo aver designato per loro degli anziani in ciascuna chiesa, e aver pregato e digiunato, li raccomandarono al Signore, nel quale avevano creduto.

24 A nd having passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia,

Quindi, attraversata la Pisidia, giunsero in Panfilia.

25 a nd having spoken in Perga the word, they went down to Attalia,

Dopo aver annunciato la Parola a Perga, scesero ad Attalia;

26 a nd thence did sail to Antioch, whence they had been given by the grace of God for the work that they fulfilled;

e di là salparono verso Antiochia, da dove erano stati raccomandati alla grazia di Dio per l’opera che avevano compiuta.

27 a nd having come and gathered together the assembly, they declared as many things as God did with them, and that He did open to the nations a door of faith;

Giunti là e riunita la chiesa, riferirono tutte le cose che Dio aveva compiute per mezzo di loro e come aveva aperto la porta della fede agli stranieri.

28 a nd they abode there not a little time with the disciples.

E rimasero con i discepoli parecchio tempo.
