1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the seventh year, in the fifth, in the tenth of the month, come in have certain of the elders of Israel to seek Jehovah, and they sit before me;

Il settimo anno, il decimo giorno del quinto mese, alcuni anziani d’Israele vennero a consultare il Signore e si sedettero davanti a me.

2 a nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:

3 ` Son of man, speak with the elders of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: To seek Me are ye coming in? I live -- I am not sought by you -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

«Figlio d’uomo, parla agli anziani d’Israele e di’ loro: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Siete venuti per consultarmi? Com’è vero che io vivo, io non mi lascerò consultare da voi”, dice il Signore, Dio.

4 D ost thou judge them? Dost thou judge, son of man? The abominations of their fathers cause them to know,

“Giudicali tu, figlio d’uomo, giudicali tu! Fa’ loro conoscere le abominazioni dei loro padri”.

5 a nd thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the day of My fixing on Israel, I lift up My hand, To the seed of the house of Jacob, And am known to them in the land of Egypt, And I lift up My hand to them, Saying, I Jehovah your God.

Di’ loro: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Il giorno che io scelsi Israele e alzai la mano per fare un giuramento alla discendenza della casa di Giacobbe, e mi feci loro conoscere nel paese d’Egitto, alzai la mano per loro, dicendo: ‘Io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio’. Quel giorno alzai la mano,

6 I n that day I did lift up My hand to them, To bring them forth from the land of Egypt, Unto a land that I spied out for them, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it to all the lands,

giurando che li avrei fatti uscire dal paese d’Egitto per introdurli in un paese che io avevo cercato per loro, paese dove scorrono il latte e il miele, il più splendido di tutti i paesi.

7 A nd I say unto them, Let each cast away the detestable things of his eyes, And with the idols of Egypt be not defiled, I Jehovah your God.

Dissi loro: ‘Gettate via, ognuno di voi, le abominazioni che attirano i vostri sguardi e non vi contaminate con gli idoli d’Egitto; io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio!’

8 A nd -- they rebel against Me, And have not been willing to hearken to Me, Each, the detestable things of their eyes, They have not cast away, And the idols of Egypt have not forsaken, And I say -- to pour out My fury on them, To complete Mine anger against them, In the midst of the land of Egypt.

Ma essi si ribellarono a me e non vollero darmi ascolto; nessuno di essi gettò via le abominazioni che attiravano il loro sguardo e non abbandonarono gli idoli d’Egitto. Allora parlai di voler riversare su di loro il mio furore e di sfogare su di loro la mia ira in mezzo al paese d’Egitto.

9 A nd I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, In whose midst they, Before whose eyes I became known to them, To bring them out from the land of Egypt.

Tuttavia io agii per amore del mio nome, perché non fosse profanato agli occhi delle nazioni in mezzo alle quali essi si trovavano, in presenza delle quali io mi ero fatto loro conoscere, allo scopo di farli uscire dal paese d’Egitto.

10 A nd I bring them out of the land of Egypt, And I bring them in unto the wilderness,

Così li condussi fuori dal paese d’Egitto e li guidai nel deserto.

11 A nd I give to them My statutes, And my judgments I caused them to know, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them.

Diedi loro le mie leggi e feci loro conoscere i miei precetti, per i quali l’uomo che li metterà in pratica vivrà.

12 A nd also My sabbaths I have given to them, To be for a sign between Me and them, To know that I Jehovah their sanctifier.

A loro diedi anche i miei sabati perché servissero di segno tra me e loro, perché conoscessero che io sono il Signore che li santifico.

13 A nd -- rebel against me do the house of Israel in the wilderness, In My statutes they have not walked, And My judgments they have despised, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them. And My sabbaths they have greatly polluted, And I say to pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Ma la casa d’Israele si ribellò contro di me nel deserto; non camminarono secondo le mie leggi, rigettarono i miei precetti, per i quali l’uomo che li metterà in pratica vivrà, e profanarono gravemente i miei sabati; perciò io parlai di riversare su di loro il mio furore nel deserto, per distruggerli.

14 A nd I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them forth.

Io agii tuttavia per amore del mio nome, perché non fosse profanato agli occhi delle nazioni, in presenza delle quali io li avevo condotti fuori dall’Egitto.

15 A nd also, I, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, Not to bring them in to the land that I had given, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it to all the lands,

Alzai perfino la mano nel deserto, giurando loro che non li avrei fatti entrare nel paese che avevo dato loro, paese dove scorrono il latte e il miele, il più splendido di tutti i paesi,

16 B ecause against My judgments they did kick, And in My statutes they have not walked, And My sabbaths they have polluted, For after their idols their heart is going.

perché avevano rigettato i miei precetti, non avevano camminato secondo le mie leggi e avevano profanato i miei sabati, poiché il loro cuore andava dietro ai loro idoli.

17 A nd Mine eye hath pity on them -- against destroying them, And I have not made of them an end in the wilderness.

Ma l’occhio mio li guardò con misericordia e non li distrussi, non li sterminai del tutto nel deserto,

18 A nd I say to their sons in the wilderness: In the statutes of your fathers ye walk not, And their judgments ye do not observe, And with their idols ye are not defiled.

ma dissi ai loro figli nel deserto: ‘Non camminate secondo i precetti dei vostri padri, non osservate le loro prescrizioni, non vi contaminate mediante i loro idoli!

19 I Jehovah your God, in My statutes walk, And My judgments observe, and do them,

Io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio; camminate secondo le mie leggi, osservate i miei precetti e metteteli in pratica.

20 A nd My sabbaths sanctify, And they have been for a sign between Me and you, To know that I, Jehovah, your God.

Santificate i miei sabati e siano essi un segno fra me e voi, dal quale si conosca che io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio’.

21 A nd -- the sons rebel against Me, In My statutes they have not walked, And My judgments they have not observed -- to do them, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them. My sabbaths they have polluted, And I say to pour out My fury upon them, To complete Mine anger against them in the wilderness.

Ma i figli si ribellarono a me, non camminarono secondo le mie leggi e non osservarono i miei precetti per metterli in pratica (le leggi per le quali l’uomo che le mette in pratica vivrà). Profanarono i miei sabati e perciò parlai di riversare su di loro il mio furore e di sfogare su di loro la mia ira nel deserto.

22 A nd I have turned back My hand, And I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them out.

Tuttavia ritirai la mia mano e agii per amor del mio nome, perché non fosse profanato agli occhi delle nazioni, in presenza delle quali li avevo condotti fuori dall’Egitto.

23 I also, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, To scatter them among nations, And to spread them through lands.

Ma alzai pure la mano nel deserto, giurando loro che li avrei dispersi fra le nazioni e li avrei disseminati per tutti i paesi,

24 B ecause My judgments they have not done, And My statutes they have despised, And My sabbaths they have polluted, And after idols of their fathers have their eyes been.

perché non mettevano in pratica i miei precetti, rigettavano le mie leggi, profanavano i miei sabati e i loro occhi andavano dietro agli idoli dei loro padri.

25 A nd I also, I have given to them statutes not good, And judgments by which they do not live.

Diedi loro perfino delle leggi non buone e dei precetti per i quali non potevano vivere.

26 A nd I defile them by their own gifts, By causing to pass away every opener of a womb, So that I make them desolate, So that they know that I Jehovah.

Li contaminai con i loro doni, quando facevano passare per il fuoco ogni primogenito, per ridurli alla desolazione affinché conoscessero che io sono il Signore ”.

27 T herefore, speak unto the house of Israel, son of man, and thou hast said unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Still in this have your fathers reviled Me, In their committing against Me a trespass.

«Perciò, figlio d’uomo, parla alla casa d’Israele e di’ loro: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “I vostri padri mi hanno ancora oltraggiato in questo, comportandosi perfidamente verso di me:

28 A nd I bring them in unto the land, That I did lift up My hand to give to them, And they see every high hill, and every thick tree, And they sacrifice there their sacrifices, And give there the provocation of their offering, And make there their sweet fragrance, And they pour out there their libations.

quando li ebbi introdotti nel paese che avevo giurato di dare loro, volsero i loro sguardi verso ogni alto colle e verso ogni albero verdeggiante; là offrirono i loro sacrifici, presentarono le loro offerte provocanti, misero i loro profumi di odore soave e sparsero le loro libazioni.

29 A nd I say unto them: What the high place whither ye are going in? And its name is called `high place' to this day.

Io dissi loro: ‘Che cos’è l’alto luogo dove andate?’ Tuttavia si è continuato a chiamarlo alto luogo fino a oggi”.

30 T herefore, say unto the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the way of your fathers are ye defiled? And after their detestable things go a-whoring?

Perciò, di’ alla casa d’Israele: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Quando vi contaminate seguendo le vie dei vostri padri e vi prostituite ai loro idoli esecrandi,

31 A nd in the offering of your gifts, In causing your sons to pass through fire, Ye are defiled by all your idols to this day, And I am sought by you, O house of Israel! I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, I am not sought by you.

quando, offrendo i vostri doni e facendo passare per il fuoco i vostri figli, vi contaminate fino a oggi con tutti i vostri idoli, dovrei forse lasciarmi consultare da voi, casa d’Israele? Com’è vero che io vivo”, dice il Signore, Dio, “io non mi lascerò consultare da voi!

32 A nd that which is going up on your mind, It is not at all -- in that ye are saying: We will be as the nations, as the families of the lands, To serve wood and stone.

Non avverrà affatto quello che vi passa per la mente quando dite: ‘Noi saremo come le nazioni, come le famiglie degli altri paesi, e renderemo un culto al legno e alla pietra!’

33 I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Do not I, with a strong hand, And with a stretched-out arm, And with fury poured out -- rule over you?

Com’è vero che io vivo”, dice il Signore, Dio, “con mano forte, con braccio disteso, con furore scatenato, io regnerò su di voi!

34 A nd I have brought you forth from the peoples, And assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, With a strong hand and with a stretched-out arm, And with fury poured out.

Vi condurrò fuori dai popoli, vi raccoglierò dai paesi dove sarete stati dispersi, con mano forte, con braccio disteso e con furore scatenato;

35 A nd I have brought you in unto the wilderness of the peoples, And have been judged with you there face to face.

vi condurrò nel deserto dei popoli e verrò in giudizio con voi faccia a faccia.

36 A s I was judged with your fathers, In the wilderness of the land of Egypt, So I am judged with you, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Come venni in giudizio con i vostri padri nel deserto del paese d’Egitto, così verrò in giudizio con voi”, dice il Signore, Dio;

37 A nd I have caused you to pass under the rod, And brought you into the bond of the covenant,

“vi farò passare sotto la verga e vi rimetterò nei vincoli del patto;

38 A nd cleared out from you the rebels, And them transgressing against Me, From the land of their sojournings I bring them out, And unto the land of Israel they come not, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

separerò da voi i ribelli e quelli che mi sono infedeli. Io li condurrò fuori dal paese dove sono stranieri, ma non entreranno nel paese d’Israele, e voi conoscerete che io sono il Signore ”. Promessa di restaurazione

39 A nd ye, O house of Israel, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Each his idols -- go -- serve ye, And, afterwards, if ye are not hearkening to me, And My holy name ye do not pollute any more by your gifts, and by your idols.

«A voi dunque, casa d’Israele, così parla il Signore, Dio: “Andate, servite ognuno i vostri idoli, poiché non volete ascoltarmi! Ma il mio santo nome non lo profanerete più con i vostri doni e con i vostri idoli!

40 F or, in My holy mountain, In the mountain of the height of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, There serve Me do all the house of Israel, All of it, in the land -- there I accept them, And there I do seek your heave-offerings, And with the first-fruit of your gifts, With all your holy things.

Poiché sul mio monte santo, sull’alto monte d’Israele”, dice il Signore, Dio, “là tutti quelli della casa d’Israele, tutti coloro che saranno nel paese, mi serviranno; là io mi compiacerò di loro, là io chiederò le vostre offerte e le primizie dei vostri doni in tutto quello che mi consacrerete.

41 W ith sweet fragrance I do accept you, In My bringing you out from the peoples, And I have assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, And I have been sanctified in you Before the eyes of the nations.

Io mi compiacerò di voi come di un profumo di odore soave, quando vi avrò condotti fuori dai popoli e vi avrò radunati dai paesi dove sarete stati dispersi; io sarò santificato in voi davanti alle nazioni.

42 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In My bringing you to the ground of Israel, Unto the land that I did lift up My hand To give it to your fathers,

Voi conoscerete che io sono il Signore, quando vi avrò condotti nella terra d’Israele, paese che giurai di dare ai vostri padri.

43 A nd ye have remembered there your ways, And all your doings, In which ye have been defiled, And ye have been loathsome in your own faces, For all your evils that ye have done.

Là vi ricorderete della vostra condotta e di tutte le azioni con le quali vi siete contaminati; sarete disgustati di voi stessi, per tutte le malvagità che avete commesse.

44 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In My dealing with you for My name's sake, Not according to your evil ways, And according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Conoscerete che io sono il Signore, quando avrò agito con voi per amore del mio nome e non secondo la vostra condotta malvagia, né secondo le vostre azioni corrotte, o casa d’Israele!”, dice il Signore, Dio ».

45 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:

46 S on of man, set thy face the way of Teman, and prophesy unto the south, and prophesy unto the forest of the field -- the south;

«Figlio d’uomo, volgi la faccia verso il mezzogiorno, rivolgi la parola al sud, profetizza contro la foresta della regione meridionale,

47 a nd thou hast said to the forest of the south: Hear a word of Jehovah: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am kindling in thee a fire, And it hath devoured in thee every moist tree, and every dry tree, Not quenched is the glowing flames, And burnt by it have been all faces from south to north.

e di’ alla foresta della regione meridionale: “Ascolta la parola del Signore!” Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Ecco, io accendo in te un fuoco che divorerà in te ogni albero verde e ogni albero secco; la fiamma dell’incendio non si spegnerà e tutto ciò che è sulla faccia del suolo ne sarà bruciato, dalla regione meridionale al settentrione;

48 A nd seen have all flesh, that I, Jehovah, have kindled it -- it is not quenched.'

ogni carne vedrà che io, il Signore, ho acceso il fuoco, ed esso non sarà spento!”».

49 A nd I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, They are saying of me, Is he not using similes?

E io dissi: «Ahimè, Signore, Dio! Costoro dicono di me: “Egli non fa che parlare in parabole”».
