1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the seventh year, in the fifth, in the tenth of the month, come in have certain of the elders of Israel to seek Jehovah, and they sit before me;

În al şaptelea an, în ziua a zecea a lunii a cincea, unii din bătrînii lui Israel au venit la mine să întrebe pe Domnul, şi au şezut jos înaintea mea.

2 a nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Şi Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

3 ` Son of man, speak with the elders of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: To seek Me are ye coming in? I live -- I am not sought by you -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Fiul omului, vorbeşte bătrînilor lui Israel, şi spune-le:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Să Mă întrebaţi aţi venit? Pe viaţa Mea, că nu Mă voi lăsa să fiu întrebat de voi, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

4 D ost thou judge them? Dost thou judge, son of man? The abominations of their fathers cause them to know,

Vrei să -i judeci, fiul omului? Dacă vrei să -i judeci, pune-le înainte urîciunile părinţilor lor!

5 a nd thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the day of My fixing on Israel, I lift up My hand, To the seed of the house of Jacob, And am known to them in the land of Egypt, And I lift up My hand to them, Saying, I Jehovah your God.

Spune-le:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,În ziua cînd am ales pe Israel, Mi-am ridicat mîna spre sămînţa casei lui Iacov, şi M'am arătat lor în ţara Egiptului; Mi-am ridicat mîna spre ei, şi am zis:,, Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru!``

6 I n that day I did lift up My hand to them, To bring them forth from the land of Egypt, Unto a land that I spied out for them, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it to all the lands,

În ziua aceea, Mi-am ridicat mîna spre ei, ca să -i duc din ţara Egiptului într'o ţară, pe care o căutasem pentru ei, ţară în care curge lapte şi miere, cea mai frumoasă dintre toate ţările.

7 A nd I say unto them, Let each cast away the detestable things of his eyes, And with the idols of Egypt be not defiled, I Jehovah your God.

Atunci le-am zis:,, Lepădaţi fiecare urîciunile cari vă atrag privirile, şi nu vă spurcaţi cu idolii Egiptului! Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru!``

8 A nd -- they rebel against Me, And have not been willing to hearken to Me, Each, the detestable things of their eyes, They have not cast away, And the idols of Egypt have not forsaken, And I say -- to pour out My fury on them, To complete Mine anger against them, In the midst of the land of Egypt.

Dar ei s'au răzvrătit împotriva Mea, şi n'au vrut să Mă asculte. Niciunul n'a lepădat urîciunile, cari îi atrăgeau privirile, şi n'au părăsit idolii Egiptului. Atunci am pus de gînd să-Mi vărs mînia peste ei, să-Mi sleiesc mînia împotriva lor, în mijlocul ţării Egiptului.

9 A nd I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, In whose midst they, Before whose eyes I became known to them, To bring them out from the land of Egypt.

Dar am avut în vedere Numele Meu, ca să nu fie pîngărit în ochii neamurilor printre cari se aflau, şi în faţa cărora Mă arătasem lor, ca să -i scot din ţara Egiptului.

10 A nd I bring them out of the land of Egypt, And I bring them in unto the wilderness,

Şi i-am scos astfel din ţara Egiptului, şi i-am dus în pustie.

11 A nd I give to them My statutes, And my judgments I caused them to know, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them.

Le-am dat legile Mele şi le-am făcut cunoscut poruncile Mele, pe cari trebuie să le împlinească omul, ca să trăiască prin ele.

12 A nd also My sabbaths I have given to them, To be for a sign between Me and them, To know that I Jehovah their sanctifier.

Le-am dat şi Sabatele Mele, să fie ca un semn între Mine şi ei, pentruca să ştie că Eu sînt Domnul, care -i sfinţesc.

13 A nd -- rebel against me do the house of Israel in the wilderness, In My statutes they have not walked, And My judgments they have despised, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them. And My sabbaths they have greatly polluted, And I say to pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Dar casa lui Israel s'a răzvrătit împotriva Mea în pustie. N'au urmat legile Mele, ci au lepădat poruncile Mele, pe cari trebuie să le împlinească omul, ca să trăiască prin ele, şi Mi-au pîngărit peste măsură de mult Sabatele Mele. Atunci am avut de gînd să-Mi vărs mînia peste ei în pustie, ca să -i nimicesc.

14 A nd I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them forth.

Dar am avut în vedere Numele Meu, ca să nu fie pîngărit în ochii neamurilor în faţa cărora îi scosesem din Egipt.

15 A nd also, I, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, Not to bring them in to the land that I had given, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it to all the lands,

Chiar şi în pustie Mi-am ridicat mîna spre ei şi le-am jurat că nu -i voi duce în ţara pe care le -o hotărîsem, ţară în care curge lapte şi miere, cea mai frumoasă din toate ţările;

16 B ecause against My judgments they did kick, And in My statutes they have not walked, And My sabbaths they have polluted, For after their idols their heart is going.

şi aceasta pentrucă au lepădat poruncile Mele şi n'au urmat legile Mele, şi pentrucă au pîngărit Sabatele Mele, căci inima nu li s'a depărtat dela idolii lor.

17 A nd Mine eye hath pity on them -- against destroying them, And I have not made of them an end in the wilderness.

Dar m'am uitat cu milă la ei, nu i-am nimicit, şi nu i-am stîrpit în pustie.

18 A nd I say to their sons in the wilderness: In the statutes of your fathers ye walk not, And their judgments ye do not observe, And with their idols ye are not defiled.

Atunci am zis fiilor lor în pustie:,, Nu vă luaţi după rînduielile părinţilor voştri, nu ţineţi obiceiurile lor, şi nu vă spurcaţi cu idolii lor!

19 I Jehovah your God, in My statutes walk, And My judgments observe, and do them,

Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru; umblaţi întocmai după rînduielile Mele, păziţi poruncile Mele, şi împliniţi-le.

20 A nd My sabbaths sanctify, And they have been for a sign between Me and you, To know that I, Jehovah, your God.

Sfinţiţi Sabatele Mele, căci ele sînt un semn între Mine şi voi, ca să ştiţi că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru!``

21 A nd -- the sons rebel against Me, In My statutes they have not walked, And My judgments they have not observed -- to do them, Which the man who doth -- liveth by them. My sabbaths they have polluted, And I say to pour out My fury upon them, To complete Mine anger against them in the wilderness.

Dar fiii s'au răzvrătit şi ei împotriva Mea. N'au umblat după rînduielile Mele, n'au păzit şi n'au împlinit poruncile Mele, pe cari trebuie să le împlinească omul, ca să trăiască prin ele, şi au pîngărit Sabatele Mele. Atunci am avut de gînd să-Mi vărs urgia peste ei, să-Mi sting mînia împotiva lor în pustie.

22 A nd I have turned back My hand, And I do for My name's sake, Not to pollute before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them out.

Dar Mi-am tras mîna înapoi, şi am avut în vedere Numele Meu, ca să nu fie pîngărit înaintea neamurilor în faţa cărora îi scosesem din Egipt.

23 I also, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, To scatter them among nations, And to spread them through lands.

În pustie, Mi-am ridicat iarăş mîna spre ei, şi le-am jurat că am să -i împrăştii printre neamuri, şi să -i risipesc în felurite ţări,

24 B ecause My judgments they have not done, And My statutes they have despised, And My sabbaths they have polluted, And after idols of their fathers have their eyes been.

pentrucă n'au împlinit poruncile Mele, şi au lepădat învăţăturile Mele, au pîngărit Sabatele mele, şi şi-au întors ochii spre idolii părinţilor lor.

25 A nd I also, I have given to them statutes not good, And judgments by which they do not live.

Ba încă le-am dat şi legi cari nu erau bune, şi porunci prin cari nu puteau să trăiască.

26 A nd I defile them by their own gifts, By causing to pass away every opener of a womb, So that I make them desolate, So that they know that I Jehovah.

I-am spurcat prin darurile lor de mîncare, cînd treceau prin foc pe toţi întîii lor născuţi; am vrut să -i pedepsesc astfel, şi să le arăt că Eu sînt Domnul.``

27 T herefore, speak unto the house of Israel, son of man, and thou hast said unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Still in this have your fathers reviled Me, In their committing against Me a trespass.

De aceea, fiul omului, vorbeşte casei lui Israel, şi spune-le:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Părinţii voştri M'au batjocorit şi mai mult, arătîndu-se necredincioşi faţă de Mine.

28 A nd I bring them in unto the land, That I did lift up My hand to give to them, And they see every high hill, and every thick tree, And they sacrifice there their sacrifices, And give there the provocation of their offering, And make there their sweet fragrance, And they pour out there their libations.

Şi anume, cînd i-am dus în ţara pe care jurasem că le -o voi da, şi ei şi-au aruncat ochii spre orice deal înalt şi spre orice copac stufos, acolo şi-au adus jertfele, acolo şi-au adus darurile de mîncare cari Mă mîniau, acolo şi-au ars mirezmele de un miros plăcut, şi acolo şi-au turnat jertfele de băutură.

29 A nd I say unto them: What the high place whither ye are going in? And its name is called `high place' to this day.

Eu i-am întrebat:,, Ce sînt aceste înălţimi, la cari vă duceţi?`` De aceea li s'a dat numele de,înălţimi` pînă în ziua de azi!

30 T herefore, say unto the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the way of your fathers are ye defiled? And after their detestable things go a-whoring?

Deaceea spune casei lui Israel:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Voiţi voi să spurcaţi în felul părinţilor voştri şi să curviţi alergînd după urîciunile lor?

31 A nd in the offering of your gifts, In causing your sons to pass through fire, Ye are defiled by all your idols to this day, And I am sought by you, O house of Israel! I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, I am not sought by you.

Da, aducîndu-vă darurile de mîncare, trecîndu-vă copiii prin foc, vă spurcaţi şi azi prin idolii voştri. Şi Eu să Mă las să fiu întrebat de voi, casa lui Israel! Pe viaţa Mea, zice Domnul, Dumnezeul, că nu Mă voi lăsa întrebat de voi!

32 A nd that which is going up on your mind, It is not at all -- in that ye are saying: We will be as the nations, as the families of the lands, To serve wood and stone.

Nu veţi vedea împlinindu-se ce vă închipuiţi, cînd ziceţi:,, Vrem să fim ca neamurile, ca familiile celorlalte ţări, vrem să slujim lemnului şi pietrei!``

33 I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Do not I, with a strong hand, And with a stretched-out arm, And with fury poured out -- rule over you?

Pe viaţa Mea, --zice Domnul Dumnezeu--că Eu însumi voi fi Împărat peste voi, cu mînă tare şi cu braţ întins, şi vărsîndu-Mi urgia.

34 A nd I have brought you forth from the peoples, And assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, With a strong hand and with a stretched-out arm, And with fury poured out.

Vă voi scoate din mijlocul popoarelor, şi vă voi strînge din ţările în cari v'am risipit, cu mînă tare şi cu braţ întins, şi vărsîndu-Mi urgia.

35 A nd I have brought you in unto the wilderness of the peoples, And have been judged with you there face to face.

Vă voi aduce în pustia popoarelor, şi acolo Mă voi judeca faţă în faţă cu voi.

36 A s I was judged with your fathers, In the wilderness of the land of Egypt, So I am judged with you, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Cum M'am judecat cu părinţii voştri în pustia ţării Egiptului, aşa Mă voi judeca şi cu voi, -zice Domnul Dumnezeu.

37 A nd I have caused you to pass under the rod, And brought you into the bond of the covenant,

Vă voi trece pe supt toiag, şi vă voi pune supt mustrarea legămîntului.

38 A nd cleared out from you the rebels, And them transgressing against Me, From the land of their sojournings I bring them out, And unto the land of Israel they come not, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

Voi deosebi dintre voi pe cei îndărătnici şi pe ceice nu-Mi sînt credincioşi; îi voi scoate din ţara în care sînt străini, dar nu vor merge iarăş în ţara lui Israel. Şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul.``

39 A nd ye, O house of Israel, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Each his idols -- go -- serve ye, And, afterwards, if ye are not hearkening to me, And My holy name ye do not pollute any more by your gifts, and by your idols.

Acum, casa lui Israel, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Duceţi-vă şi slujiţi fiecare la idolii voştri! După aceea, Mă veţi asculta negreşit, şi nu veţi mai pîngări Numele Meu cel sfînt cu darurile voastre de mîncare şi cu idolii voştri!

40 F or, in My holy mountain, In the mountain of the height of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, There serve Me do all the house of Israel, All of it, in the land -- there I accept them, And there I do seek your heave-offerings, And with the first-fruit of your gifts, With all your holy things.

Căci pe muntele Meu cel sfînt, pe muntele cel înalt al lui Israel, -zice Domnul, Dumnezeu-acolo Îmi va sluji toată casa lui Israel, toţi cei ce vor fi în ţară; acolo îi voi primi cu bunăvoinţă, voi cere darurile voastre de mîncare, cele dintîi roade din darurile voastre, şi tot ce-Mi veţi închina.

41 W ith sweet fragrance I do accept you, In My bringing you out from the peoples, And I have assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, And I have been sanctified in you Before the eyes of the nations.

Vă voi primi ca pe nişte miresme cu miros plăcut, dupăce vă voi scoate din mijlocul popoarelor, şi vă voi strînge din ţările în cari sînteţi risipiţi; şi voi fi sfinţit de voi înaintea neamurilor.

42 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In My bringing you to the ground of Israel, Unto the land that I did lift up My hand To give it to your fathers,

Şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, cînd vă voi aduce înapoi în ţara lui Israel, în ţara pe care jurasem că o voi da părinţilor voştri.

43 A nd ye have remembered there your ways, And all your doings, In which ye have been defiled, And ye have been loathsome in your own faces, For all your evils that ye have done.

Acolo vă veţi aduce aminte de purtarea voastră şi de toate faptele voastre cu cari v'aţi spurcat; şi vă va fi scîrbă de voi înşivă, din pricina tuturor fărădelegilor pe cari le-aţi făcut.

44 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In My dealing with you for My name's sake, Not according to your evil ways, And according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, cînd Mă voi purta cu voi avînd în vedere Numele Meu, şi nicidecum după purtarea voastră rea, nici după faptele voastre stricate, casa lui Israel, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

45 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

46 S on of man, set thy face the way of Teman, and prophesy unto the south, and prophesy unto the forest of the field -- the south;

Fiul omului, întoarce-ţi faţa spre miazăzi, şi vorbeşte împotriva locurilor de miazăzi! Prooroceşte împotriva pădurii din cîmpiile de miazăzi!

47 a nd thou hast said to the forest of the south: Hear a word of Jehovah: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am kindling in thee a fire, And it hath devoured in thee every moist tree, and every dry tree, Not quenched is the glowing flames, And burnt by it have been all faces from south to north.

Spune pădurii de la miazăzi:,, Ascultă cuvîntul Domnului! Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Iată, voi aprinde un foc în tine, care va mistui orice copac verde şi orice copac uscat: nimeni nu va putea stinge flacăra aprinsă, şi totul va fi ars de ea, dela miazăzi pînă la miazănoapte.

48 A nd seen have all flesh, that I, Jehovah, have kindled it -- it is not quenched.'

Şi orice făptură va vedea că Eu, Domnul, l-am aprins, şi nu se va stinge nici de cum!``

49 A nd I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, They are saying of me, Is he not using similes?

Eu am zis:,, Ah! Doamne, Dumnezeule! Ei zic despre mine:,, Omul acesta face într'una la pilde!``
