1 A nd Samson goeth down to Timnath, and seeth a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines,

Samson s'a pogorît la Timna, şi a văzut acolo o femeie din fetele Filistenilor.

2 a nd cometh up and declareth to his father, and to his mother, and saith, `A woman I have seen in Timnath, of the daughters of the Philistines; and now, take her for me for a wife.'

Cînd s'a suit înapoi, a spus lucrul acesta tatălui său şi mamei sale, şi a zis:,, Am văzut la Timna o femeie din fetele Filistenilor; luaţi-mi -o acum de nevastă``.

3 A nd his father saith to him -- also his mother, `Is there not among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, a woman, that thou art going to take a woman from the uncircumcised Philistines?' and Samson saith unto his father, `Take her for me, for she is right in mine eyes.'

Tatăl său şi mama sa i-au zis:,, Nu este nici o femeie între fetele fraţilor tăi şi în tot poporul nostru, de te duci să-ţi iei nevastă dela Filisteni, cari sînt netăiaţi împrejur?`` Şi Samson a zis tatălui său:,, Ia-mi -o, căci îmi place.``

4 A nd his father and his mother have not known that from Jehovah it, that a meeting he is seeking of the Philistines; and at that time the Philistines are ruling over Israel.

Tatăl său şi mama sa nu ştiau că lucrul acesta venea dela Domnul: căci Samson căuta un prilej de ceartă din partea Filistenilor. În vremea aceea Filistenii stăpîneau peste Israel.

5 A nd Samson goeth down -- also his father and his mother, to Timnath, and they come unto the vineyards of Timnath, and lo, a lion's whelp roareth at meeting him,

Samson s'a pogorît împreună cu tatăl său şi cu mama sa la Timna. Cînd au ajuns la viile din Timna, iată că i -a ieşit înainte un leu tînăr mugind.

6 a nd the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and he rendeth it as the rending of a kid, and there is nothing in his hand, and he hath not declared to his father and to his mother that which he hath done.

Duhul Domnului a venit peste Samson; şi, fără să aibă ceva în mînă, Samson a sfîşiat pe leu cum se sfîşie un ied. N'a spus tatălui său şi mamei sale ce făcuse.

7 A nd he goeth down and speaketh to the woman, and she is right in the eyes of Samson;

S'a pogorît şi a vorbit cu femeia aceea, şi ea i -a plăcut.

8 a nd he turneth back after days to take her, and turneth aside to see the carcase of the lion, and lo, a company of bees in the body of the lion -- and honey.

După cîtva timp, s'a dus iarăşi la Timna ca s'o ia, şi s'a abătut să vadă hoitul leului. Şi iată că în trupul leului era un roi de albine şi miere.

9 A nd he taketh it down on to his hands, and goeth on, going and eating; and he goeth unto his father, and unto his mother, and giveth to them, and they eat, and he hath not declared to them that from the body of the lion he took down the honey.

A luat mierea în mînă, şi a mîncat -o pe drum; şi cînd a ajuns la tatăl său şi la mama sa, le -a dat, şi au mîncat şi ei din ea. Dar nu le -a spus că luase mierea aceasta din trupul leului.

10 A nd his father goeth down unto the woman, and Samson maketh there a banquet, for so the young men do;

Tatăl lui Samson s'a pogorît la femeia aceea. Şi acolo Samson a făcut un ospăţ, căci aşa făceau tinerii.

11 a nd it cometh to pass when they see him, that they take thirty companions, and they are with him.

Cum l-au văzut, au poftit treizeci de tovarăşi, cari au stat împreună cu el.

12 A nd Samson saith to them, `Let me, I pray you, put forth to you a riddle; if ye certainly declare it to me the seven days of the banquet, and have found out, then I have given to you thirty linen shirts, and thirty changes of garments;

Samson le -a zis:,, Am să vă spun o ghicitoare. Dacă mi -o veţi ghici în cele şapte zile ale ospăţului, şi dacă o veţi deslega, vă voi da treizeci de cămăşi şi treizeci de haine de schimb.

13 a nd if ye are not able to declare to me, then ye have given to me thirty linen shirts, and thirty changes of garments.' And they say to him, `Put forth thy riddle, and we hear it!'

Dar dacă n'o veţi ghici, să-mi daţi voi treizeci de cămăşi şi treizeci de haine de schimb``.,, Ei i-au zis:``,, Spune-ne ghicitoarea ta s'o auzim``.

14 A nd he saith to them: `Out of the eater came forth meat, And out of the strong came forth sweetness;' and they were not able to declare the riddle three days.

Şi el le -a zis:,, Din cel ce mănîncă a ieşit ce se mănîncă, Şi din cel tare a ieşit dulceaţă``.

15 A nd it cometh to pass, on the seventh day, that they say to Samson's wife, `Entice thy husband, that he declare to us the riddle, lest we burn thee and the house of thy father with fire; to possess us have ye called for us? is it not?'

Trei zile, n-au putut deslega ghicitoarea. În ziua a şaptea, au zis nevestei lui Samson:,,Înduplecă pe bărbatul tău să ne deslege ghicitoarea; altfel, te vom arde, pe tine şi casa tatălui tău. Ne-aţi adunat aici ca să ne jăfuiţi, nu -i aşa?``

16 A nd Samson's wife weepeth for it, and saith, `Thou hast only hated me, and hast not loved me; the riddle thou hast put forth to the sons of my people -- and to me thou hast not declared it;' and he saith to her, `Lo, to my father and to my mother I have not declared -- and to thee I declare!'

Nevasta lui Samson plîngea lîngă el şi zicea:,, Tu n'ai decît ură pentru mine, şi nu mă iubeşti; ai spus o ghicitoare copiilor poporului meu, şi nu mi-ai deslegat -o!`` Şi el i -a răspuns:,, N'am deslegat -o nici tatălui meu, nici mamei mele: să ţi -o desleg ţie``?

17 A nd she weepeth for it the seven days which their banquet hath been, and it cometh to pass on the seventh day that he declareth to her, for she hath distressed him; and she declareth the riddle to the sons of her people.

Ea a plîns lîngă el tot timpul celor şapte zile cît a ţinut ospătul; şi în ziua a şaptea, i -a deslegat -o, căci îl necăjea. Şi ea a dat copiilor poporului ei deslegarea ghicitorii.

18 A nd the men of the city say to him on the seventh day, before the sun goeth in: -- `What sweeter than honey? And what stronger than a lion?' And he saith to them: `Unless ye had ploughed with my heifer, Ye had not found out my riddle.'

Oamenii din cetate au zis lui Samson în ziua a şaptea, înainte de apusul soarelui:,, Ce este mai dulce de cît mierea, şi ce este mai tare decît leul? Şi el le -a zis:, Dacă n'aţi fi arat cu juncana mea, Nu mi-aţi fi deslegat ghicitoarea``.

19 A nd the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and he goeth down to Ashkelon, and smiteth of them thirty men, and taketh their armour, and giveth the changes to those declaring the riddle; and his anger burneth, and he goeth up to the house of his father;

Duhul Domnului a venit peste el, şi s'a pogorît la Ascalon. Acolo a ucis treizeci de oameni, le -a luat hainele şi a dat hainele de schimb celor ce deslegaseră ghicitoarea. Era aprins de mînie, şi s'a suit la casa tatălui său.

20 a nd Samson's wife becometh his companion's, who his friend.

Nevastă-sa a fost dată unuia din tovarăşii lui, cu care era prieten el.
