1 G o, now, ye rich! weep, howling over your miseries that are coming upon;

Ascultaţi acum voi, bogaţilor! Plîngeţi şi tînguiţi-vă, din pricina nenorocirilor, cari au să vină peste voi.

2 y our riches have rotted, and your garments have become moth-eaten;

Bogăţiile voastre au putrezit, şi hainele voastre sînt roase de molii.

3 y our gold and silver have rotted, and the rust of them for a testimony shall be to you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye made treasure in the last days!

Aurul şi argintul vostru au ruginit; şi rugina lor va fi o dovadă împotriva voastră: ca focul are să vă mănînce carnea! V'aţi strîns comori în zilele din urmă!

4 l o, the reward of the workmen, of those who in-gathered your fields, which hath been fraudulently kept back by you -- doth cry out, and the exclamations of those who did reap into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth have entered;

Iată că plata lucrătorilor, cari v'au secerat cîmpiile, şi pe care le-aţi oprit -o, prin înşelăciune, strigă! Şi strigătele secerătorilor au ajuns la urechile Domnului oştirilor.

5 y e did live in luxury upon the earth, and were wanton; ye did nourish your hearts, as in a day of slaughter;

Aţi trăit pe pămînt în plăceri şi în desfătări. V'aţi săturat inimile chiar într'o zi de măcel.

6 y e did condemn -- ye did murder the righteous one, he doth not resist you.

Aţi osîndit, aţi omorît pe cel neprihănit, care nu vi se împotrivea!

7 B e patient, then, brethren, till the presence of the Lord; lo, the husbandman doth expect the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for it, till he may receive rain -- early and latter;

Fiţi dar îndelung răbdători, fraţilor, pînă la venirea Domnului. Iată că plugarul aşteaptă roada scumpă a pămîntului, şi o aşteaptă cu răbdare, pînă primeşte ploaie timpurie şi tîrzie.

8 b e patient, ye also; establish your hearts, because the presence of the Lord hath drawn nigh;

Fiţi şi voi îndelung răbdători, întăriţi-vă inimile, căci venirea Domnului este aproape.

9 m urmur not against one another, brethren, that ye may not be condemned; lo, the Judge before the door hath stood.

Nu vă plîngeţi unii împotriva altora, fraţilor, ca să nu fiţi judecaţi: iată că Judecătorul este chiar la uşă.

10 A n example take ye of the suffering of evil, my brethren, and of the patience, the prophets who did speak in the name of the Lord;

Fraţii mei, luaţi ca pildă de suferinţă şi de răbdare pe proorocii, cari au vorbit în Numele Domnului.

11 l o, we call happy those who are enduring; the endurance of Job ye heard of, and the end of the Lord ye have seen, that very compassionate is the Lord, and pitying.

Iată, noi numim fericiţi pe cei ce au răbdat. Aţi auzit vorbindu-se despre răbdarea lui Iov, şi aţi văzut ce sfîrşit i -a dat Domnul, şi cum Domnul este plin de milă şi de îndurare.

12 A nd before all things, my brethren, do not swear, neither by the heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath, and let your Yes be Yes, and the No, No; that under judgment ye may not fall.

Mai pe sus de toate, fraţii mei, să nu vă juraţi nici pe cer, nici pe pămînt, nici cu vreun altfel de jurămînt. Ci,, da`` al vostru să fie,, da``; şi,, nu`` să fie,, nu``, ca să nu cădeţi supt judecată.

13 D oth any one suffer evil among you? let him pray; is any of good cheer? let him sing psalms;

Este vreunul printre voi în suferinţă? Să se roage! Este vreunul cu inimă bună? Să cînte cîntări de laudă!

14 i s any infirm among you? let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil, in the name of the Lord,

Este vreunul printre voi bolnav? Să cheme pe presbiterii (Sau: bătrîni.). Bisericii; şi să se roage pentru el, după ce -l vor unge cu untdelemn în Numele Domnului.

15 a nd the prayer of the faith shall save the distressed one, and the Lord shall raise him up, and if sins he may have committed, they shall be forgiven to him.

Rugăciunea făcută cu credinţă va mîntui pe cel bolnav, şi Domnul îl va însănătoşa; şi dacă a făcut păcate, îi vor fi iertate.

16 B e confessing to one another the trespasses, and be praying for one another, that ye may be healed; very strong is a working supplication of a righteous man;

Mărturisiţi-vă unii altora păcatele, şi rugaţi-vă unii pentru alţii, ca să fiţi vindecaţi. Mare putere are rugăciunea fierbinte a celui neprihănit.

17 E lijah was a man like affected as we, and with prayer he did pray -- not to rain, and it did not rain upon the land three years and six months;

Ilie era un om supus aceloraşi slăbiciuni ca şi noi; şi s'a rugat cu stăruinţă să nu ploaie, şi n'a plouat deloc în ţară trei ani şi şase luni.

18 a nd again he did pray, and the heaven did give rain, and the land did bring forth her fruit.

Apoi s'a rugat din nou, şi cerul a dat ploaie, şi pămîntul şi -a dat rodul.

19 B rethren, if any among you may go astray from the truth, and any one may turn him back,

Fraţilor, dacă s'a rătăcit vreunul dintre voi dela adevăr, şi -l întoarce un altul,

20 l et him know that he who did turn back a sinner from the straying of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.

să ştiţi că cine întoarce pe un păcătos dela rătăcirea căii lui, va mîntui un suflet dela moarte, şi va acoperi o sumedenie de păcate
