1 I n the third month of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in this day they have come into the wilderness of Sinai,

În luna a treia după ieşirea lor din ţara Egiptului, copiii lui Israel au ajuns în ziua aceea în pustia Sinai.

2 a nd they journey from Rephidim, and enter the wilderness of Sinai, and encamp in the wilderness; and Israel encampeth there before the mount.

Dupăce au plecat de la Refidim, au ajuns în pustia Sinai, şi au tăbărît în pustie. Israel a tăbărît acolo, în faţa muntelui.

3 A nd Moses hath gone up unto God, and Jehovah calleth unto him out of the mount, saying, `Thus dost thou say to the house of Jacob, and declare to the sons of Israel,

Moise s'a suit la Dumnezeu. Si Domnul l -a chemat de pe munte, zicînd:,, Aşa să vorbeşti casei lui Iacov, şi să spui copiilor lui Israel:

4 Y e -- ye have seen that which I have done to the Egyptians, and I bear you on eagles' wings, and bring you in unto Myself.

Aţi văzut ce am făcut Egiptului, şi cum v'am purtat pe aripi de vultur şi v'am adus aici la Mine.

5 ` And now, if ye really hearken to My voice, then ye have kept My covenant, and been to Me a peculiar treasure more than all the peoples, for all the earth Mine;

Acum, dacă veţi asculta glasul meu, şi dacă veţi păzi legămîntul Meu, veţi fi ai Mei dintre toate popoarele, căci tot pămîntul este al Meu;

6 a nd ye -- ye are to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation: these the words which thou dost speak unto the sons of Israel.'

Îmi veţi fi o împărăţie de preoţi şi un neam sfînt. Acestea sînt cuvintele pe cari le vei spune copiilor lui Israel.``

7 A nd Moses cometh, and calleth for the elders of the people, and setteth before them all these words which Jehovah hath commanded him;

Moise a venit de a chemat pe bătrînii poporului, şi le -a pus înainte toate cuvintele acestea, cum îi poruncise Domnul.

8 a nd all the people answer together and say, `All that Jehovah hath spoken we do;' and Moses returneth the words of the people unto Jehovah.

Tot poporul a răspuns:,, Vom face tot ce a zis Domnul!`` Moise a spus Domnului cuvintele poporului.

9 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am coming unto thee in the thickness of the cloud, so that the people hear in My speaking with thee, and also believe in thee to the age;' and Moses declareth the words of the people unto Jehovah.

Şi Domnul a zis lui Moise:,, Iată, voi veni la tine într-un nor gros, pentruca să audă poporul cînd îţi voi vorbi, şi să aibă totdeauna încredere în tine.`` Moise a spus Domnului cuvintele poporului.

10 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go unto the people; and thou hast sanctified them to-day and to-morrow, and they have washed their garments,

Şi Domnul a zis lui Moise:,, Du-te la popor, sfinţeşte -i azi şi mîne, şi pune -i să-şi spele hainele.

11 a nd have been prepared for the third day; for on the third day doth Jehovah come down before the eyes of all the people, on mount Sinai.

Să fie gata pentru a treia zi; căci a treia zi Domnul Se va pogorî, în faţa întregului popor, pe muntele Sinai.

12 ` And thou hast made a border the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, going up into the mount, or coming against its extremity; whoever is coming against the mount is certainly put to death;

Să hotărăşti poporului anumite margini dejurîmprejur, şi să spui:, Să nu cumva să vă suiţi pe munte sau să vă atingeţi de poalele lui. Oricine se va atinge de munte, va fi pedepsit cu moartea.

13 a hand cometh not against him, for he is certainly stoned or shot through, whether beast or man it liveth not; in the drawing out of the jubilee cornet they go up into the mount.'

Nici o mînă să nu se atingă de el; ci pe oricine se va atinge, să -l omoare cu pietre, sau să -l străpungă cu săgeţi: dobitoc sau om, nu va trăi.` Cînd va suna trîmbiţa, ei vor înainta spre munte.``

14 A nd Moses cometh down from the mount unto the people, and sanctifieth the people, and they wash their garments;

Moise s'a pogorît de pe munte la popor: a sfinţit poporul, şi ei şi-au spălat hainele.

15 a nd he saith unto the people, `Be ye prepared for the third day, come not nigh unto a woman.'

Şi a zis poporului:,, Fiţi gata în trei zile; să nu vă apropiaţi de vreo femeie.``

16 A nd it cometh to pass, on the third day, while it is morning, that there are voices, and lightnings, and a heavy cloud, on the mount, and the sound of a trumpet very strong; and all the people who in the camp do tremble.

A treia zi dimineaţa, au fost tunete, fulgere, şi un nor gros pe munte; trîmbiţa răsuna cu putere, şi tot poporul din tabără a fost apucat de spaimă.

17 A nd Moses bringeth out the people to meet God from the camp, and they station themselves at the lower part of the mount,

Moise a scos poporul din tabără, spre întîmpinarea lui Dumnezeu, şi s'au aşezat la poalele muntelui.

18 a nd mount Sinai wholly a smoke from the presence of Jehovah, who hath come down on it in fire, and its smoke goeth up as smoke of the furnace, and the whole mount trembleth exceedingly;

Muntele Sinai era tot numai fum, pentrucă Domnul Se pogorîse pe el în mijlocul focului. Fumul acesta se înălţa ca fumul unui cuptor, şi tot muntele se cutremura cu putere.

19 a nd the sound of the trumpet is going on, and very strong; Moses speaketh, and God doth answer him with a voice.

Trîmbiţa răsuna tot mai puternic. Moise vorbea, şi Dumnezeu îi răspundea cu glas tare.

20 A nd Jehovah cometh down on mount Sinai, unto the top of the mount, and Jehovah calleth for Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses goeth up.

Domnul S'a pogorît pe muntele Sinai, şi anume pe vîrful muntelui. Domnul a chemat pe Moise pe vîrful muntelui. Şi Moise s'a suit sus.

21 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go down, protest to the people, lest they break through unto Jehovah to see, and many of them have fallen;

Domnul a zis lui Moise:,, Pogoară-te şi porunceşte poporului cu totdinadinsul să nu dea busna spre Domnul, ca să se uite, pentru ca nu cumva să piară un mare număr dintre ei.

22 a nd also the priests who are coming nigh unto Jehovah do sanctify themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.'

Preoţii, cari se apropie de Domnul, să se sfinţească şi ei, ca nu cumva să -i lovească Domnul cu moartea.``

23 A nd Moses saith unto Jehovah, `The people unable to come up unto mount Sinai, for Thou -- Thou hast protested to us, saying, Make a border the mount, then thou hast sanctified it.'

Moise a zis Domnului:,, Poporul nu va putea să se suie pe muntele Sinai, căci ne-ai oprit cu tot dinadinsul, zicînd:, Hotărăşte anumite margini în jurul muntelui, şi sfinţeşte -l.``

24 A nd Jehovah saith unto him, `Go, descend, then thou hast come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; and the priests and the people do not break through, to come up unto Jehovah, lest He break forth upon them.'

Domnul i -a zis:,, Du-te, pogoară-te, şi suie-te apoi iarăş cu Aaron; dar preoţii şi poporul să nu dea busna să se suie la Domnul, ca nu cumva să -i lovească cu moartea.``

25 A nd Moses goeth down unto the people, and saith unto them: --

Moise s'a pogorît la popor, şi i -a spus aceste lucruri.
