1 T hen said Solomon, `Jehovah said -- to dwell in thick darkness,

Atunci Solomon a zis:,, Domnul a zis că vrea să locuiască în întunerec!

2 a nd I -- I have built a house of habitation for Thee, and a fixed place for Thy dwelling to the ages.'

Şi eu am zidit o casă care-Ţi va fi locuinţa, un loc unde vei locui în veci!``

3 A nd the king turneth round his face, and blesseth the whole assembly of Israel, and the whole assembly of Israel is standing,

Împăratul şi -a întors faţa, şi a binecuvîntat toată adunarea lui Israel. Şi toată adunarea lui Israel stătea în picioare.

4 a nd he saith, `Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath spoken with His mouth with David my father, and with His hands hath fulfilled, saying:

Şi el a zis:,, Binecuvîntat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, care a vorbit cu gura Sa tatălui meu David, şi a împlinit prin puterea Sa ce spusese, cînd a zis:

5 ` From the day that I brought out My people from the land of Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for my name being there, and I have not fixed on a man to be leader over My people Israel;

Din ziua cînd am scos pe poporul Meu din ţara Egiptului, n'am ales nicio cetate dintre toate seminţiile lui Israel, ca să se zidească acolo o casă în care să locuiască Numele Meu, şi n-am ales pe niciun om, care să fie căpetenia poporului Meu Israel.

6 a nd I fix on Jerusalem for My name being there, and I fix on David to be over My people Israel.

Ci Ierusalimul l-am ales, pentruca în el să locuiască Numele Meu, şi pe David l-am ales, ca să domnească peste poporul Meu Israel!`

7 ` And it is with the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah God of Israel,

Tatăl meu David avea de gînd să zidească o casă Numelui Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

8 a nd Jehovah saith unto David my father, Because that it hath been with thy heart to build a house for My name, thou hast done well that it hath been with thy heart,

Şi Domnul a zis tatălui meu David:, Fiindcă ai avut de gînd să zideşti o casă Numelui Meu, bine ai făcut că ai avut gîndul acesta.

9 b ut thou dost not build the house, for thy son who cometh forth out from thy loins, he doth build the house for My name.

Numai că nu tu vei zidi casa; ci fiul tău, ieşit din tine, va zidi Numelui Meu o casă.`

10 ` And Jehovah doth establish His word that He spake, and I rise up in the stead of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah spake, and I build the house for the name of Jehovah, God of Israel,

Domnul a împlinit cuvîntul pe care -l spusese. Eu m'am ridicat în locul tatălui meu David, şi am şezut pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel, cum vestise Domnul, şi am zidit o casă Numelui Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

11 a nd I place there the ark, where the covenant of Jehovah that He made with the sons of Israel.'

Am aşezat în ea chivotul, în care este legămîntul Domnului, legămîntul pe care l -a făcut El cu copiii lui Israel.``

12 A nd he standeth before the altar of Jehovah, over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreadeth out his hand, --

Solomon s'a aşezat înaintea altarului Domnului, în faţa întregei adunări a lui Israel, şi a întins mînile.

13 f or Solomon hath made a scaffold of brass, and putteth it in the midst of the court, five cubits its length, and five cubits its breadth, and three cubits its height, and he standeth upon it, and kneeleth on his knees over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreadeth forth his hands towards the heavens --

Căci Solomon făcuse o treaptă de aramă, şi o pusese în mijlocul curţii. Ea era lungă de cinci coţi, lată de cinci coţi, şi înaltă de trei coţi; a şezut pe ea, s'a aşezat în genunchi în faţa întregei adunări a lui Israel, şi a întins mînile spre cer.

14 a nd saith, `O Jehovah God of Israel, there is not like Thee a god in the heavens and in the earth, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Thy servants who are walking before Thee with all their heart;

Şi a zis:,, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel! Nu este Dumnezeu ca Tine, în ceruri şi pe pămînt: Tu ţii legămîntul şi îndurarea Ta faţă de robii Tăi, cari umblă înaintea Ta cu toată inima lor!

15 w ho hast kept for Thy servant David my father that which Thou didst speak to him; yea, Thou dost speak with Thy mouth, and with Thy hand hast fulfilled, as at this day.

Astfel, Ţi-ai ţinut cuvîntul dat robului Tău David, tatăl meu; şi ce ai spus cu gura Ta, împlineşti astăzi prin puterea Ta.

16 ` And now, O Jehovah, God of Israel, keep for Thy servant David my father that which Thou didst speak to him, saying, There is not cut off to thee a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Israel, only, if thy sons watch their way to walk in My law, as thou hast walked before Me.

Acum, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, ţine făgăduinţa pe care ai făcut -o tatălui meu David, cînd ai zis:, Niciodată nu vei fi lipsit înaintea Mea de un urmaş care să şadă pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel, numai fiii tăi să ia seama la calea lor şi să meargă în legea Mea, cum ai mers tu înaintea Mea.`

17 ` And now, O Jehovah, God of Israel, is Thy word stedfast that Thou hast spoken to Thy servant, to David,

Împlinească-se dar, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, făgăduinţa pe care ai făcut -o robului Tău David!

18 ( for is it true? -- God dwelleth with man on the earth! Lo, the heavens, and the heavens of the heavens, do not contain Thee, how much less this house that I have built?)

Dar ce! Să locuiască Dumnezeu cu adevărat împreună cu omul pe pămînt? Iată că cerurile, şi cerurile cerurilor nu Te pot cuprinde: cu cît mai puţin această casă, pe care am zidit -o eu!

19 ` And Thou hast turned unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer that Thy servant is praying before Thee,

Totuş, Doamne, Dumnezeul meu, ia aminte la rugăciunea robului Tău şi la cererea lui! Ascultă strigătul şi rugăciunea pe care Ţi -o face robul Tău.

20 f or Thine eyes being open towards this house by day and by night, towards the place that Thou hast said to put Thy name there, to hearken unto the prayer that Thy servant prayeth towards this place.

Ochii Tăi să fie zi şi noapte deschişi peste casa aceasta, peste locul despre care ai zis că acolo va fi Numele Tău! Ascultă rugăciunea pe care o face robul Tău în locul acesta!

21 ` And Thou hast hearkened unto the supplications of Thy servant, and of Thy people Israel, that they pray towards this place, and Thou dost hear from the place of Thy dwelling, from the heavens, and hast hearkened, and forgiven.

Ascultă cererile robului Tău şi ale poporului Tău Israel, cînd se vor ruga în locul acesta! Ascultă din locul locuinţei Tale, din ceruri, ascultă şi iartă!

22 ` If a man doth sin against his neighbour, and he hath lifted up on him an oath to cause him to swear, and the oath hath come in before Thine altar in this house --

Dacă va păcătui cineva împotriva aproapelui său, şi se va pune peste el un jurămînt ca să -l facă să jure, şi dacă va veni să jure înaintea altarului Tău, în casa aceasta, -

23 t hen Thou dost hear from the heavens, and hast done, and hast judged Thy servants, to give back to the wicked, to put his way on his head, and to declare righteous the righteous, to give to him according to his righteousness.

ascultă -l din ceruri, lucrează, şi judecă pe robii Tăi: osîndeşte pe cel vinovat, şi fă ca purtarea lui să cadă asupra capului lui; fă dreptate celui nevinovat, şi răsplăteşte -i, după nevinovăţia lui!

24 ` And if Thy people Israel is smitten before an enemy, because they sin against Thee, and they have turned back and confessed Thy name, and prayed and made supplication before Thee in this house --

Cînd poporul tău Israel va fi bătut de vrăjmaş, pentrucă a păcătuit împotriva Ta: dacă se vor întoarce la Tine şi vor da slavă Numelui Tău, dacă Îţi vor face rugăciuni şi cereri în casa aceasta, -

25 t hen Thou dost hear from the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy people Israel, and caused them to turn back unto the ground that Thou hast given to them, and to their fathers.

ascultă -i din ceruri, iartă păcatul poporului Tău Israel, şi adu -i înapoi în ţara pe care ai dat -o lor şi părinţilor lor.

26 ` In the heavens being restrained, and there is no rain, because they sin against Thee, and they have prayed towards this place, and confessed Thy name -- from their sin they turn back because Thou dost afflict them --

Cînd cerul va fi închis, şi nu va fi ploaie, din pricina păcatelor lor împotriva Ta: dacă se vor ruga în acest loc, şi vor da slavă Numelui Tău, şi dacă se vor întoarce dela păcatele lor (pentrucă -i vei fi pedepsit),

27 t hen Thou dost hear in the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy servants, and of Thy people Israel, because Thou directest them unto the good way in which they walk, and hast given rain on Thy land that Thou hast given to Thy people for an inheritance.

ascultă -i din ceruri, iartă păcatul robilor Tăi şi al poporului Tău Israel, învaţă -i calea cea bună în care trebuie să meargă, şi trimete ploaie pe pămîntul pe care l-ai dat de moştenire poporului Tău!

28 ` Famine, when it is in the land, pestilence, when it is, blasting, and mildew, locust, and caterpillar, when they are, when its enemies have distressed it in the land -- its gates, any plague and any sickness;

Cînd vor fi în ţară foametea, ciuma, rugina în grîu, şi mălura, lăcustele de un soi sau altul, cînd vrăjmaşul va împresura pe poporul Tău, în ţara lui, în cetăţile lui, cînd vor fi urgii sau boli de vreun fel:

29 a ny prayer, any supplication that is for any man, and for all Thy people Israel, when they know each his own plague, and his own pain, and he hath spread out his hands towards this house:

dacă un om, dacă tot poporul Tău Israel va face rugăciuni şi cereri, şi fiecare îşi va cunoaşte rana şi durerea şi va întinde mînile spre casa aceasta, -

30 t hen Thou dost hear from the heavens, the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast forgiven, and hast given to each according to all his ways (because Thou knowest his heart, for Thou -- Thou only -- hast known the heart of the sons of men),

ascultă -l din ceruri, din locul locuinţei Tale, şi iartă -l; răsplăteşte fiecăruia după căile lui, Tu care cunoşti inima fiecăruia, -căci numai Tu cunoşti inima copiilor oamenilor, -

31 s o that they fear Thee, to walk in Thy ways, all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that Thou hast given to our fathers.

ca să se teamă de Tine, şi să umble în căile Tale tot timpul cît vor trăi în ţara, pe care ai dat -o părinţilor noştri!

32 ` And also, unto the stranger who is not of Thy people Israel, and he hath come from a land afar off for the sake of Thy great name, and Thy strong hand, and Thy stretched-out arm, and they have come in and prayed towards this house:

Cînd străinul, care nu este din poporul tău Israel, va veni dintr'o ţară depărtată, din pricina Numelui Tău celui mare, din pricina mînii Tale celei tari şi din pricina braţului Tău întins, cînd va veni să se roage în casa aceasta, -

33 t hen Thou dost hear from the heavens, from the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast done according to all that the stranger calleth unto Thee for: so that all the peoples of the earth do know Thy name, so as to fear Thee, as Thy people Israel, and to know that Thy name is called on this house that I have built.

ascultă -l din ceruri, din locul locuinţei Tale, şi dă străinului aceluia tot ce-Ţi va cere, pentruca toate popoarele pămîntului să cunoască Numele Tău, să se teamă de Tine, ca poporul Tău Israel, şi să ştie că Numele Tău este chemat peste casa aceasta, pe care am zidit -o!

34 ` When Thy people doth go out to battle against its enemies in the way that Thou dost send them, and they have prayed unto Thee the way of this city that Thou hast fixed on, and the house that I have built for Thy name:

Cînd va ieşi poporul Tău la luptă împotriva vrăjmaşilor lui, urmînd calea pe care îi vei porunci s'o urmeze: dacă Îţi vor face rugăciuni, cu privirile îndreptate spre cetatea aceasta pe care ai ales -o şi spre casa pe care am zidit -o în Numele Tău, -

35 t hen Thou hast heard from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and hast maintained their cause.

ascultă din ceruri rugăciunile şi cererile lor, şi fă-le dreptate!

36 ` When they sin against Thee -- for there is not a man who sinneth not -- and Thou hast been angry with them, and hast given them before an enemy, and taken them captive have their captors, unto a land far off or near;

Cînd vor păcătui împotriva Ta, -căci nu este om care să nu păcătuiască, -şi cînd vei fi mîniat împotriva lor şi -i vei da în mîna vrăjmaşului, care -i va duce robi într'o ţară depărtată sau apropiată:

37 a nd they have turned back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto Thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have done wickedly;

dacă îşi vor veni în fire în ţara unde vor fi robi, dacă se vor întoarce la Tine, şi Îţi vor face cereri în ţara robiei lor, şi vor zice:, Am păcătuit, am săvîrşit fărădelegi, am făcut rău!`

38 y ea, they have turned back unto Thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, whither they have taken them captive, and they have prayed the way of their land that Thou hast given to their fathers, and of the city that Thou hast chosen, and of the house that I have built for Thy name:

dacă se vor întoarce la Tine din toată inima lor şi din tot sufletul lor, în ţara robiei lor, unde au fost duşi robi, dacă-Ţi vor face rugăciuni, cu privirile întoarse spre ţara lor, pe care ai dat -o părinţilor lor, spre cetatea pe care ai ales -o şi spre casa pe care am zidit -o Numelui Tău, -

39 t hen Thou hast heard from the heavens, from the settled place of Thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplications, and hast maintained their cause, and forgiven Thy people who have sinned against Thee.

ascultă din ceruri, din locul locuinţei Tale, rugăciunile şi cererile lor, şi fă-le dreptate: iartă poporului Tău păcatele făcute împotriva Ta!

40 ` Now, my God, let, I beseech Thee, Thine eyes be open, and Thine ears attentive, to the prayer of this place:

Acum, Dumnezeule, ochii Tăi să fie deschişi, şi urechile să-Ţi fie cu luare aminte la rugăciunea făcută în locul acesta!

41 a nd now, rise, O Jehovah God, to Thy rest, Thou, and the ark of Thy strength; Thy priests, O Jehovah God, are clothed with salvation, and Thy saints rejoice in the goodness,

Acum, Doamne, Dumnezeule, scoală-Te, vino la locul Tău de odihnă, Tu şi chivotul măreţiei Tale. Preoţii Tăi, Doamne Dumnezeule, să fie îmbrăcaţi cu mîntuirea, şi prea iubiţii Tăi să se bucure de fericire!

42 O Jehovah God, turn not back the face of Thine anointed, be mindful of the kind acts of David Thy servant.'

Doamne Dumnezeule, nu îndepărta pe unsul Tău, adu-Ţi aminte de bunătăţile făgăduite robului Tău David!``
