1 A nd Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,

După aceea, Isus străbătea Galilea; nu voia să stea în Iudea, pentrucă Iudeii căutau să -L omoare.

2 a nd the feast of the Jews was nigh -- that of tabernacles --

Şi praznicul Iudeilor, praznicul zis al Corturilor, era aproape.

3 h is brethren, therefore, said unto him, `Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;

Fraţii Lui I-au zis:,, Pleacă de aici, şi du-Te în Iudea, ca să vadă şi ucenicii Tăi lucrările, pe cari le faci.

4 f or no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things -- manifest thyself to the world;'

Nimeni nu face ceva în ascuns, cînd caută să se facă cunoscut: dacă faci aceste lucruri, arată-Te lumii.``

5 f or not even were his brethren believing in him.

Căci nici fraţii Lui nu credeau în El.

6 J esus, therefore, saith to them, `My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;

Isus le -a zis:,, Vremea Mea n'a sosit încă, dar vouă vremea totdeauna vă este prielnică.

7 t he world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.

Pe voi lumea nu vă poate urî; pe Mine Mă urăşte, pentrucă mărturisesc despre ea că lucrările ei sînt rele.

8 Y e -- go ye up to this feast; I do not yet go up to this feast, because my time hath not yet been fulfilled;'

Suiţi-vă voi la praznicul acesta; Eu încă nu Mă sui la praznicul acesta, fiindcă nu Mi s'a împlinit încă vremea.``

9 a nd saying these things to them, he remained in Galilee.

Dupăce le -a spus aceste lucruri, a rămas în Galilea.

10 A nd when his brethren went up, then also he himself went up to the feast, not manifestly, but as in secret;

După ce s'au suit fraţii Lui la praznic, S'a suit şi El, dar nu pe faţă, ci cam pe ascuns.

11 t he Jews, therefore, were seeking him, in the feast, and said, `Where is that one?'

Iudeii Îl căutau în timpul praznicului, şi ziceau:,, Unde este?``

12 a nd there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said -- `He is good;' and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;'

Noroadele vorbeau mult în şoaptă despre El. Unii ziceau:,, Este un om bun.`` Alţii ziceau:,, Nu, ci duce norodul în rătăcire.``

13 n o one, however, was speaking freely about him, through fear of the Jews.

Totuş, de frica Iudeilor, nimeni nu vorbea de El pe faţă.

14 A nd it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple, and he was teaching,

Pela jumătatea praznicului, Isus S'a suit la Templu. Şi învăţa norodul.

15 a nd the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters -- not having learned?'

Iudeii se mirau, şi ziceau:,, Cum are omul acesta învăţătură, căci n'a învăţat niciodată?``

16 J esus answered them and said, `My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me;

Isus le -a răspuns:,,Învăţătura Mea nu este a Mea, ci a Celuice M'a trimes pe Mine.

17 i f any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or -- I do speak from myself.

Dacă vrea cineva să facă voia Lui, va ajunge să cunoască dacă învăţătura este de la Dumnezeu, sau dacă Eu vorbesc dela Mine.

18 ` He who is speaking from himself his own glory doth seek, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;

Cine vorbeşte dela sine, caută slava lui însuş; dar cine caută slava Celuice l -a trimes, acela este adevărat, şi în el nu este strîmbătate.

19 h ath not Moses given you the law? and none of you doth the law; why me do ye seek to kill?'

Oare nu v'a dat Moise Legea? Totuş nimeni din voi nu ţine Legea. De ce căutaţi să Mă omorîţi?``

20 T he multitude answered and said, `Thou hast a demon, who doth seek to kill thee?'

Norodul I -a răspuns:,, Ai drac. Cine caută să Te omoare?``

21 J esus answered and said to them, `One work I did, and ye all wonder,

Drept răspuns, Isus le -a zis:,, O lucrare am făcut, şi toţi vă miraţi de ea.

22 b ecause of this, Moses hath given you the circumcision -- not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers -- and on a sabbath ye circumcise a man;

Moise v'a dat porunca privitoare la tăierea împrejur-nu că ea vine dela Moise, ci dela patriarhi-şi voi tăiaţi împrejur pe om în ziua Sabatului.

23 i f a man doth receive circumcision on a sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye wroth with me that I made a man all whole on a sabbath?

Dacă un om primeşte tăierea împrejur în ziua Sabatului, ca să nu se calce Legea lui Moise, de ce turbaţi de mînie împotriva Mea, pentrucă am însănătoşat un om întreg în ziua Sabatului?

24 j udge not according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.'

Nu judecaţi după înfăţişare, ci judecaţi după dreptate.``

25 C ertain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, `Is not this he whom they are seeking to kill?

Nişte locuitori din Ierusalim ziceau:,, Nu este El acela, pe care caută ei să -L omoare?

26 a nd, lo, he doth speak freely, and they say nothing to him; did the rulers at all know truly that this is truly the Christ?

Şi totuş, iată că vorbeşte pe faţă, şi ei nu -I zic nimic! Nu cumva, în adevăr, cei mai mari vor fi cunoscut că El este Hristosul?

27 b ut this one -- we have known whence he is; and the Christ, when he doth come, no one doth know whence he is.'

Dar noi ştim de unde este omul acesta; însă, cînd va veni Hristosul, nimeni nu va şti de unde este.``

28 J esus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, `Ye have both known me, and ye have known whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, whom ye have not known;

Şi Isus, pe cînd învăţa pe norod în Templu, striga:,, Mă cunoaşteţi şi Mă ştiţi de unde sînt! Eu n'am venit dela Mine însumi, ci Cel ce M'a trimes, este adevărat, şi voi nu -L cunoaşteţi.

29 a nd I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He did send me.'

Eu Îl cunosc, căci vin dela El, şi El M'a trimes.``

30 T hey were seeking, therefore, to seize him, and no one laid the hand on him, because his hour had not yet come,

Ei căutau deci să -L prindă; şi nimeni n'a pus mîna pe El, căci încă nu -I sosise ceasul.

31 a nd many out of the multitude did believe in him, and said -- `The Christ -- when he may come -- will he do more signs than these that this one did?'

Mulţi din norod au crezut în El, şi ziceau:,, Cînd va veni Hristosul, va face mai multe semne decît a făcut omul acesta?``

32 T he Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take him;

Fariseii au auzit pe norod spunînd în şoaptă aceste lucruri despre El. Atunci preoţii cei mai de seamă şi Fariseii au trimes nişte aprozi să -L prindă.

33 J esus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time I am with you, and I go away unto Him who sent me;

Isus a zis:,, Mai sînt cu voi puţină vreme, şi apoi Mă duc la Cel ce M'a trimes.

34 y e will seek me, and ye shall not find; and where I am, ye are not able to come.'

Voi Mă veţi căuta, şi nu Mă veţi găsi; şi unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni.``

35 T he Jews, therefore, said among themselves, `Whither is this one about to go that we shall not find him? -- to the dispersion of the Greeks is he about to go? and to teach the Greeks;

Iudeii au zis între ei:,, Unde are de gînd să se ducă omul acesta, ca să nu -l putem găsi? Doar n'o avea de gînd să se ducă la cei împrăştiaţi printre Greci, şi să înveţe pe Greci?

36 w hat is this word that he said, Ye will seek me, and ye shall not find? and, Where I am, ye are not able to come?'

Ce însemnează cuvintele acestea, pe cari le -a spus:, Mă veţi căuta, şi nu Mă veţi găsi; şi unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni?``

37 A nd in the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, `If any one doth thirst, let him come unto me and drink;

În ziua de pe urmă, care era ziua cea mare a praznicului, Isus a stătut în picioare, şi a strigat:,, Dacă însetează cineva, să vină la Mine, şi să bea.

38 h e who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;'

Cine crede în Mine, din inima lui vor curge rîuri de apă vie, cum zice Scriptura.``

39 a nd this he said of the Spirit, which those believing in him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Spunea cuvintele acestea despre Duhul, pe care aveau să -L primească ceice vor crede în El. Căci Duhul Sfînt încă nu fusese dat, fiindcă Isus nu fusese încă proslăvit.

40 M any, therefore out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, `This is truly the Prophet;'

Unii din norod, cînd au auzit aceste cuvinte, ziceau:,, Acesta este cu adevărat Proorocul.``

41 o thers said, `This is the Christ;' and others said, `Why, out of Galilee doth the Christ come?

Alţii ziceau:,, Acesta este Hristosul.`` Şi alţii ziceau:,, Cum, din Galilea are să vină Hristosul?

42 D id not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem -- the village where David was -- the Christ doth come?'

Nu zice Scriptura că Hristosul are să vină din sămînţa lui David, şi din satul Betleem, unde era David?``

43 A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of him.

S'a făcut deci desbinare în norod din pricina Lui.

44 A nd certain of them were willing to seize him, but no one laid hands on him;

Unii din ei voiau să -L prindă; dar nimeni n'a pus mîna pe El.

45 t he officers came, therefore, unto the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, `Wherefore did ye not bring him?'

Aprozii s'au întors deci la preoţii cei mai de seamă şi la Farisei. Şi aceştia le-au zis:,, De ce nu L-aţi adus?``

46 T he officers answered, `Never so spake man -- as this man.'

Aprozii au răspuns:,, Niciodată n'a vorbit vreun om ca omul acesta.``

47 T he Pharisees, therefore, answered them, `Have ye also been led astray?

Fariseii le-au răspuns:,, Doar n'aţi fi fost duşi şi voi în rătăcire?

48 d id any one out of the rulers believe in him? or out of the Pharisees?

A crezut în El vreunul din mai marii noştri sau din Farisei?

49 b ut this multitude, that is not knowing the law, is accursed.'

Dar norodul acesta, care nu ştie Legea, este blestemat!``

50 N icodemus saith unto them -- he who came by night unto him -- being one of them,

Nicodim, cel care venise la Isus noaptea, şi care era unul din ei, le -a zis:

51 ` Doth our law judge the man, if it may not hear from him first, and know what he doth?'

Legea noastră osîndeşte ea pe un om înainte ca să -l asculte şi să ştie ce face?``

52 T hey answered and said to him, `Art thou also out of Galilee? search and see, that a prophet out of Galilee hath not risen;'

Drept răspuns, ei i-au zis:,,Şi tu eşti din Galilea? Cercetează bine, şi vei vedea că din Galilea nu s'a ridicat niciun prooroc.``

53 a nd each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the mount of the Olives.
