1 A nd having entered, he was passing through Jericho,

Isus a intrat în Ierihon, şi trecea prin cetate.

2 a nd lo, a man, by name called Zaccheus, and he was a chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich,

Şi un om bogat, numit Zacheu, mai marele vameşilor,

3 a nd he was seeking to see Jesus, who he is, and was not able for the multitude, because in stature he was small,

căuta să vadă care este Isus; dar nu putea din pricina norodului, căci era mic de statură.

4 a nd having run forward before, he went up on a sycamore, that he may see him, because through that he was about to pass by.

A alergat înainte, şi s'a suit într'un dud ca să -L vadă; pentrucă pe drumul acela avea să treacă.

5 A nd as Jesus came up to the place, having looked up, he saw him, and said unto him, `Zaccheus, having hastened, come down, for to-day in thy house it behoveth me to remain;'

Isus, cînd a ajuns la locul acela, Şi -a ridicat ochii în sus, şi i -a zis:,, Zachee, dă-te jos de grabă, căci astăzi trebuie să rămîn în casa ta.``

6 a nd he having hastened did come down, and did receive him rejoicing;

Zacheu s'a dat jos în grabă, şi L -a primit cu bucurie.

7 a nd having seen, they were all murmuring, saying -- `With a sinful man he went in to lodge!'

Cînd au văzut lucrul acesta, toţi cîrteau şi ziceau:,, A intrat să găzduiască la un om păcătos!``

8 A nd Zaccheus having stood, said unto the Lord, `Lo, the half of my goods, sir, I give to the poor, and if of any one anything I did take by false accusation, I give back fourfold.'

Dar Zacheu a stătut înaintea Domnului, şi I -a zis:,, Iată, Doamne, jumătate din avuţia mea o dau săracilor; şi, dacă am năpăstuit pe cineva cu ceva, îi dau înapoi împătrit.``

9 A nd Jesus said unto him -- `To-day salvation did come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;

Isus i -a zis:,, Astăzi a intrat mîntuirea în casa aceasta, căci şi el este fiul lui Avraam.

10 f or the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.'

Pentrucă Fiul omului a venit să caute şi să mîntuiască ce era pierdut.``

11 A nd while they are hearing these things, having added he spake a simile, because of his being nigh to Jerusalem, and of their thinking that the reign of God is about presently to be made manifest.

Pe cînd ascultau ei aceste lucruri, Isus a mai spus o pildă, pentrucă era aproape de Ierusalim, şi ei credeau că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu are să se arate îndată.

12 H e said therefore, `A certain man of birth went on to a far country, to take to himself a kingdom, and to return,

Deci a zis:,, Un om de neam mare s'a dus într'o ţară depărtată, ca să-şi ia o împărăţie, şi apoi să se întoarcă.

13 a nd having called ten servants of his own, he gave to them ten pounds, and said unto them, Do business -- till I come;

A chemat zece din robii săi, le -a dat zece poli (Greceşte: mine.), şi le -a zis:,, Puneţi -i în negoţ pînă mă voi întoarce.``

14 a nd his citizens were hating him, and did send an embassy after him, saying, We do not wish this one to reign over us.

Dar cetăţenii lui îl urau; şi au trimes după el o solie să -i spună:,, Nu vrem ca omul acesta să împărăţească peste noi.``

15 ` And it came to pass, on his coming back, having taken the kingdom, that he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he gave the money, that he might know what any one had done in business.

Cînd s'a întors înapoi, după ce îşi luase împărăţia, a spus să cheme pe robii aceia, cărora le dăduse banii, ca să vadă cît cîştigase fiecare cu ei din negoţ.

16 ` And the first came near, saying, Sir, thy pound did gain ten pounds;

Cel dintîi a venit, şi i -a zis:,, Doamne, polul tău a mai adus zece poli.``

17 a nd he said to him, Well done, good servant, because in a very little thou didst become faithful, be having authority over ten cities.

El i -a zis:,, Bine, rob bun; fiindcă ai fost credincios în puţine lucruri, primeşte cîrmuirea a zece cetăţi.``

18 ` And the second came, saying, Sir, thy pound made five pounds;

A venit al doilea, şi i -a zis:,, Doamne, polul tău a mai adus cinci poli.``

19 a nd he said also to this one, And thou, become thou over five cities.

El i -a zis şi lui:,, Primeşte şi tu cîrmuirea a cinci cetăţi.``

20 ` And another came, saying, Sir, lo, thy pound, that I had lying away in a napkin;

A venit un altul, şi i -a zis:,, Doamne, iată-ţi polul, pe care l-am păstrat învelit într'un ştergar;

21 f or I was afraid of thee, because thou art an austere man; thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow.

căci m'am temut de tine, fiindcă eşti un om aspru; iei ce n'ai pus, şi seceri ce n'ai sămănat.``

22 ` And he saith to him, Out of thy mouth I will judge thee, evil servant: thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow!

Stăpînul i -a zis:,, Rob rău; te voi judeca după cuvintele tale. Ştiai că sînt un om aspru, care iau ce n'am pus şi secer ce n'am sămănat;

23 a nd wherefore didst thou not give my money to the bank, and I, having come, with interest might have received it?

atunci de ce nu mi-ai pus banii la zarafi, pentruca, la întoarcerea mea, să -i fi luat înapoi cu dobîndă?``

24 ` And to those standing by he said, Take from him the pound, and give to him having the ten pounds --

Apoi a zis celor ce erau de faţă:,, Luaţi -i polul, şi daţi -l celui ce are zece poli.``

25 ( and they said to him, Sir, he hath ten pounds) --

Doamne``, i-au zis ei,,, el are zece poli.``

26 f or I say to you, that to every one having shall be given, and from him not having, also what he hath shall be taken from him,

Iar el le -a zis:,, Vă spun că celui ce are, i se va da; dar dela cel ce n'are, se va lua chiar şi ce are.

27 b ut those my enemies, who did not wish me to reign over them, bring hither and slay before me.'

Cît despre vrăjmaşii mei, cari n'au vrut să împărăţesc eu peste ei, aduceţi -i încoace, şi tăiaţi -i înaintea mea.``

28 A nd having said these things, he went on before, going up to Jerusalem.

După ce a vorbit astfel, Isus a pornit în frunte şi Se suia spre Ierusalim.

29 A nd it came to pass, as he came nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, unto the mount called of the Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

Cînd S'a apropiat de Betfaghe şi de Betania, înspre muntele numit al Măslinilor, Isus a trimes pe doi din ucenicii Săi,

30 h aving said, Go away to the village over-against, in which, entering into, ye shall find a colt bound, on which no one of men did ever sit, having loosed it, bring;

şi le -a zis:,, Duceţi-vă în satul dinaintea voastră. Cînd veţi intra în el, veţi găsi un măgăruş legat, pe care n'a încălecat nimeni niciodată: deslegaţi -l, şi aduceţi-Mi -l.

31 a nd if any one doth question you, Wherefore do ye loose ? thus ye shall say to him -- The Lord hath need of it.'

Dacă vă va întreba cineva:, Pentruce -l deslegaţi?` să -i spuneţi aşa:, Pentrucă Domnul are trebuinţă de el.``

32 A nd those sent, having gone away, found according as he said to them,

Ceice fuseseră trimeşi, s'au dus şi au găsit aşa cum le spusese Isus.

33 a nd while they are loosing the colt, its owners said unto them, `Why loose ye the colt?'

Pe cînd deslegau măgăruşul, stăpînii lui le-au zis:,, Pentruce deslegaţi măgăruşul?``

34 a nd they said, `The Lord hath need of it;'

Ei au răspuns:,, Domnul are trebuinţă de el.``

35 a nd they brought it unto Jesus, and having cast their garments upon the colt, they did set Jesus upon it.

Şi au adus măgăruşul la Isus. Apoi şi-au aruncat hainele pe el, şi au aşezat pe Isus, călare deasupra.

36 A nd as he is going, they were spreading their garments in the way,

Pe cînd mergea Isus, oamenii îşi aşterneau hainele pe drum.

37 a nd as he is coming nigh now, at the descent of the mount of the Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began rejoicing to praise God with a great voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

Şi cînd S'a apropiat de Ierusalim, spre pogorîşul muntelui Măslinilor, toată mulţimea ucenicilor, plină de bucurie, a început să laude pe Dumnezeu cu glas tare pentru toate minunile, pe cari le văzuseră.

38 s aying, `blessed he who is coming, a king in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.'

Ei ziceau:,, Binecuvîntat este Împăratul care vine în Numele Domnului! Pace în cer, şi slavă în locurile prea înalte!``

39 A nd certain of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, `Teacher, rebuke thy disciples;'

Unii Farisei, din norod, au zis lui Isus:,,Învăţătorule, ceartă-Ţi ucenicii!``

40 a nd he answering said to them, `I say to you, that, if these shall be silent, the stones will cry out!'

Şi El a răspuns:,, Vă spun că, dacă vor tăcea ei, pietrele vor striga.``

41 A nd when he came nigh, having seen the city, he wept over it,

Cînd S'a apropiat de cetate şi a văzut -o, Isus a plîns pentru ea,

42 s aying -- `If thou didst know, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things for thy peace; but now they were hid from thine eyes.

şi a zis:,, Dacă ai fi cunoscut şi tu, măcar în această zi, lucrurile, cari puteau să-ţi dea pacea! Dar acum, ele sînt ascunse de ochii tăi.

43 ` Because days shall come upon thee, and thine enemies shall cast around thee a rampart, and compass thee round, and press thee on every side,

Vor veni peste tine zile, cînd vrăjmaşii tăi te vor înconjura cu şanţuri, te vor împresura, şi te vor strînge din toate părţile:

44 a nd lay thee low, and thy children within thee, and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone, because thou didst not know the time of thy inspection.'

te vor face una cu pămîntul, pe tine şi pe copiii tăi din mijlocul tău; şi nu vor lăsa în tine piatră pe piatră, pentrucă n'ai cunoscut vremea cînd ai fost cercetată.``

45 A nd having entered into the temple, he began to cast forth those selling in it, and those buying,

În urmă a intrat în Templu, şi a început să scoată afară pe ceice vindeau şi cumpărau în el.

46 s aying to them, `It hath been written, My house is a house of prayer -- but ye made it a den of robbers.'

Şi le -a zis:,, Este scris:, Casa Mea va fi o casă de rugăciune. Dar voi aţi făcut din ea o peşteră de tîlhari.``

47 A nd he was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes were seeking to destroy him -- also the chiefs of the people --

Isus învăţa în toate zilele pe norod în Templu. Şi preoţii cei mai de seamă, cărturarii şi bătrînii norodului căutau să -L omoare;

48 a nd they were not finding what they shall do, for all the people were hanging on him, hearing him.

dar nu ştiau cum să facă, pentrucă tot norodul Îi sorbea vorbele de pe buze.
