1 A nd it cometh to pass as David sat in his house, that David saith unto Nathan the prophet, `Lo, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah under curtains;'

Pe cînd locuia David în casa lui, a zis proorocului Natan:,, Iată, eu locuiesc într'o casă de cedru, şi chivotul legămîntului Domnului este într'un cort.``

2 a nd Nathan saith unto David, `All that in thy heart do, for God with thee.'

Natan a răspuns lui David:,, Fă tot ce-ţi spune inima, căci Dumnezeu este cu tine.``

3 A nd it cometh to pass on that night that a word of God is unto Nathan, saying,

În noaptea următoare, cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Natan:

4 ` Go, and thou hast said unto David My servant, Thus said Jehovah, Thou dost not build for Me the house to dwell in:

Du-te şi spune robului Meu David:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Nu tu Îmi vei zidi o casă de locuit.

5 f or I have not dwelt in a house from the day that I brought up Israel till this day, and I am from tent unto tent: and from the tabernacle,

Căci Eu n'am locuit într'o casă din ziua cînd am scos pe Israel din Egipt pînă în ziua de azi; ci am mers din cort în cort, şi din locaş în locaş.

6 w hithersoever I have walked up and down among all Israel, a word spake I, with one of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people, saying, Why have ye not built for Me a house of cedars?

Pretutindeni pe unde am mers cu tot Israelul, am spus Eu o vorbă vreunuia din judecătorii lui Israel, cărora le poruncisem să pască pe poporul Meu, am zis Eu:, Pentruce nu-Mi zidiţi o casă de cedru?`

7 ` And now, thus dost thou say to My servant, to David, Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, I have taken thee from the habitation, from after the sheep, to be leader over My people Israel,

Acum să spui robului Meu David:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor:, Te-am luat dela păşune, dinapoia oilor, ca să fii căpetenia poporului Meu Israel;

8 a nd I am with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and I cut off all thine enemies from thy presence, and have made for thee a name like the name of the great ones who in the earth.

am fost cu tine pretutindeni pe unde ai mers, am nimicit pe toţi vrăjmaşii tăi dinaintea ta, şi ţi-am făcut nume ca numele celor mari de pe pămînt:

9 ` And I have prepared a place for My people Israel, and planted it, and it hath dwelt in its place, and is not troubled any more, and the sons of perverseness add not to wear it out as at first,

am dat o locuinţă poporului Meu Israel, şi l-am sădit ca să fie statornic acolo şi să nu mai fie turburat, pentruca cei răi să nu -l mai nimicească aşa cum îl nimiceau mai înainte

10 y ea, even from the days that I appointed judges over My people Israel. `And I have humbled all thine enemies, and I declare to thee that a house doth Jehovah build for thee,

şi pe vremea cînd pusesem judecători peste poporul Meu Israel. Am smerit pe toţi vrăjmaşii tăi. Şi îţi vestesc că Domnul îţi va zidi o casă.

11 a nd it hath come to pass, when thy days have been fulfilled to go with thy fathers, that I have raised up thy seed after thee, who is of thy sons, and I have established his kingdom,

Cînd ţi se vor împlini zilele, şi cînd te vei duce la părinţii tăi, voi ridica sămînţa ta după tine, şi anume pe unul din fiii tăi, şi -i voi întări domnia.

12 h e doth build for Me a house, and I have established his throne unto the age;

El Îmi va zidi o casă, şi -i voi întări pe vecie scaunul lui de domnie.

13 I am to him for a father, and he is to Me for a son, and My kindness I turn not aside from him as I turned it aside from him who was before thee,

Eu îi voi fi Tată şi el Îmi va fi fiu; şi nu voi îndepărta bunătatea Mea dela el, cum am îndepărtat -o dela cel dinaintea ta.

14 a nd I have established him in My house, and in My kingdom unto the age, and his throne is established unto the age.'

Îl voi aşeza pentru totdeauna în Casa Mea, şi în împărăţia Mea scaunul lui de domnie va fi întărit pe vecie.``

15 A ccording to all these words, and according to all this vision, so spake Nathan unto David.

Natan a spus lui David toate aceste cuvinte şi toată vedenia aceasta.

16 A nd David the king cometh in and sitteth before Jehovah, and saith, `Who I, O Jehovah God, and what my house, that Thou hast brought me hitherto?

Şi împăratul David s'a dus şi s'a înfăţişat înaintea Domnului, şi a zis:,, Cine sînt eu, Doamne Dumnezeule, şi ce este casa mea, de m'ai făcut să ajung unde sînt?

17 A nd this is small in Thine eyes, O God, and Thou speakest concerning the house of thy servant afar off, and hast seen me as a type of the man who is on high, O Jehovah God!

Şi atîta este puţin lucru înaintea ta, Dumnezeule! Tu vorbeşti şi de casa robului Tău pentru vremile viitoare. Şi binevoieşti să-Ţi îndrepţi privirile asupra mea în felul oamenilor, Tu care eşti înălţat, Doamne Dumnezeule!

18 ` What doth David add more unto Thee for the honour of Thy servant; and Thou Thy servant hast known.

Ce ar putea să-Ţi mai spună David faţă de slava dată robului Tău? Tu cunoşti pe robul Tău.

19 O Jehovah, for Thy servant's sake, and according to Thine own heart Thou hast done all this greatness, to make known all these great things.

Doamne, din pricina robului Tău, şi după inima Ta, ai făcut aceste lucruri mari, şi i le-ai descoperit.

20 O Jehovah, there is none like Thee, and there is no god save Thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

Doamne! nimeni nu este ca Tine, şi nu este alt Dumnezeu afară de Tine, după tot ce am auzit cu urechile noastre.

21 ` And who as Thy people Israel, one nation in the earth whom God hath gone to ransom to Him for a people, to make for Thee a name great and fearful, to cast out from the presence of Thy people whom Thou hast ransomed out of Egypt -- nations?

Este oare pe pămînt un singur popor, care să fie ca poporul Tău Israel, pe care Dumnezeu a venit să -l răscumpere, ca să facă din el poporul Lui, ca să-Ţi faci un nume şi să săvîrşeşti minuni şi semne mari, izgonind neamuri dinaintea poporului Tău, pe care l-ai răscumpărat din Egipt?

22 Y ea, Thou dost appoint Thy people Israel to Thee for a people unto the age, and Thou, O Jehovah, hast been to them for God.

Tu ai pus pe poporul Tău Israel, ca să fie poporul Tău pe vecie; şi Tu, Doamne, Te-ai făcut Dumnezeul lui.

23 ` And now, O Jehovah, the word that Thou hast spoken concerning Thy servant, and concerning his house, let be stedfast unto the age, and do as Thou hast spoken;

Acum, Doamne, cuvîntul pe care l-ai rostit asupra robului Tău şi asupra casei lui să rămînă în veac, şi fă după cuvîntul Tău!

24 a nd let it be stedfast, and Thy name is great unto the age, saying, Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, is God to Israel, and the house of Thy servant David is established before Thee;

Să rămînă, pentruca Numele Tău să fie slăvit pe vecie şi să se spună:, Domnul oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, este un Dumnezeu pentru Israel!` Şi casa robului Tău David să fie întărită înaintea Ta!

25 f or Thou, O my God, Thou hast uncovered the ear of Thy servant -- to build to him a house, therefore hath Thy servant found to pray before Thee.

Căci Tu însuţi, Dumnezeule, ai descoperit robului Tău că îi vei zidi o casă. De aceea a îndrăznit robul Tău să se roage înaintea Ta.

26 ` And now, Jehovah, Thou God Himself, and Thou speakest concerning Thy servant this goodness;

Acum, Doamne, Tu eşti adevăratul Dumnezeu, şi Tu ai vestit harul acesta robului Tău.

27 a nd now, Thou hast been pleased to bless the house of Thy servant, to be to the age before Thee; for Thou, O Jehovah, hast blessed, and it is blessed to the age.'

Binecuvintează dar casa robului Tău, ca să rămînă pe vecie înaintea Ta! Căci ce binecuvîntezi Tu, Doamne, este binecuvîntat pentru vecinicie!``
