1 A nd Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,

În locul lui a domnit fiul său Iosafat. El s'a întărit împotriva lui Israel:

2 a nd putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.

a pus oşti în toate cetăţile întărite ale lui Iuda, şi a rînduit căpetenii în ţara lui Iuda şi în cetăţile lui Efraim, pe cari le luase tatăl său Asa.

3 A nd Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,

Domnul a fost cu Iosafat, pentrucă a umblat în cele dintîi căi ale tatălui său David, şi n'a căutat pe Baali;

4 f or to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.

căci a alergat la Dumnezeul tatălui său, şi a urmat poruncile Lui, fără să facă ce făcea Israel.

5 A nd Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,

Domnul a întărit domnia în mînile lui Iosafat, căruia tot Iuda îi aducea daruri. Şi a avut o mulţime de bogăţii şi slavă.

6 a nd his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.

Inima lui s'a întărit din ce în ce în căile Domnului, şi a îndepărtat din Iuda chiar şi înălţimile şi idolii.

7 A nd in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,

În al treilea an al domniei lui, a însărcinat pe căpeteniile sale Ben-Hail, Obadia, Zaharia, Netaneel şi Mica, să se ducă să înveţe pe oameni în cetăţile lui Iuda.

8 a nd with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

A trimes cu ei pe Leviţii Şemaia, Netania, Zebadia, Asael, Şemiramot, Ionatan, Adonia, Tobia şi Tob-Adonia, Leviţi, şi pe preoţii Elişama şi Ioram.

9 A nd they teach in Judah, and with them the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.

Ei au învăţat pe oameni în Iuda, avînd cu ei cartea legii Domnului. Au străbătut toate cetăţile lui Iuda, şi au învăţat pe oameni în mijlocul poporului.

10 A nd here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;

Groaza Domnului a apucat toate împărăţiile ţărilor dimprejurul lui Iuda, şi n'au făcut război împotriva lui Iosafat.

11 a nd of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.

Nişte Filisteni au adus lui Iosafat daruri şi un bir în argint; şi Arabii i-au adus şi ei vite, şapte mii şapte sute de berbeci şi şapte mii şapte sute de ţapi.

12 A nd Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,

Iosafat se ridicase la cea mai înaltă treaptă de mărire. A zidit în Iuda cetăţui şi cetăţi pentru merinde.

13 a nd he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, in Jerusalem.

A strîns merinde în cetăţile lui Iuda, şi avea la Ierusalim o ceată de oameni viteji ca ostaşi.

14 A nd these their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.

Iată numărul lor, după casele părinţilor lor. Din Iuda, căpetenii peste o mie: Adna, căpetenia, cu trei sute de mii de viteji;

15 A nd at his hand Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.

după el, Iohanan, căpetenia, cu două sute optzeci de mii de oameni;

16 A nd at his hand Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.

după el, Amasia, fiul lui Zicri, care se predase de bunăvoie Domnului, cu două sute de mii de viteji.

17 A nd of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.

Din Beniamin: Eliada, om viteaz, cu două sute de mii de oameni înarmaţi cu arc şi cu scut,

18 A nd at his hand Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.

şi după el, Zozabad, cu o sută optzeci de mii de oameni înarmaţi pentru război.

19 T hese those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.

Aceştia sînt cei ce erau în slujba împăratului, afară de aceia pe cari îi pusese împăratul în toate cetăţile întărite ale lui Iuda.
