1 A nd Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,

Entonces su hijo Josafat reinó en su lugar, y afirmó su dominio sobre Israel.

2 a nd putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.

Puso tropas en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá. También puso guarniciones en el territorio de Judá y en las ciudades de Efraín que su padre Asa había tomado.

3 A nd Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,

Y el Señor estuvo con Josafat porque anduvo en los primeros caminos de su padre David y no buscó a los Baales,

4 f or to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.

sino que buscó al Dios de su padre, anduvo en sus mandamientos y no hizo como Israel.

5 A nd Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,

El Señor, pues, afirmó el reino bajo su mano; y todo Judá le traía presentes a Josafat, y tuvo grandes riquezas y honores.

6 a nd his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.

Y su corazón se entusiasmó en los caminos del Señor, y además quitó de Judá los lugares altos y las Aseras.

7 A nd in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,

En el año tercero de su reinado envió a sus oficiales Ben Hail, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Micaías, para que instruyeran a los habitantes de las ciudades de Judá.

8 a nd with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

Con ellos envió a los Levitas Semaías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asael, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías y Tobadonías, Levitas todos; y con éstos a los sacerdotes Elisama y Joram.

9 A nd they teach in Judah, and with them the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.

Ellos enseñaron a la gente en Judá, teniendo consigo el Libro de la Ley del Señor. Recorrieron todas las ciudades de Judá y enseñaron al pueblo.

10 A nd here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;

Y el terror del Señor vino sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá, y no hicieron guerra contra Josafat.

11 a nd of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.

Algunos de los Filisteos trajeron presentes y plata como tributo a Josafat; también los Arabes le trajeron rebaños: 7, 700 carneros y 7, 700 machos cabríos.

12 A nd Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,

Josafat se engrandecía más y más, y edificó fortalezas y ciudades de almacenaje en Judá.

13 a nd he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, in Jerusalem.

Tenía muchas provisiones en las ciudades de Judá, y hombres de guerra, valientes guerreros, en Jerusalén.

14 A nd these their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.

Este era su número según sus casas paternas: De Judá, de los capitanes de millares, Adnas era el capitán, y con él 300, 000 valientes guerreros;

15 A nd at his hand Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.

después de él estaba el capitán Johanán, y con él 280, 000;

16 A nd at his hand Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.

y tras éste, Amasías, hijo de Zicri, que se ofreció voluntariamente al Señor, y con él 200, 000 valientes guerreros.

17 A nd of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.

De Benjamín, estaba Eliada, un valiente guerrero, y con él 200, 000 armados de arco y escudo;

18 A nd at his hand Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.

y después de éste, Jozabad, y con él 180, 000 armados para la guerra.

19 T hese those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.

Estos son los que sirvieron al rey, sin contar los que el rey puso en las ciudades fortificadas por todo Judá.
