1 I n the thirty and sixth year of the reign of Asa, come up hath Baasha king of Israel, against Judah, and buildeth Ramah, so as not to permit any going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

En el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asa, subió Baasa, rey de Israel, contra Judá y fortificó Ramá para prevenir que nadie saliera o entrara en ayuda de Asa, rey de Judá.

2 A nd Asa bringeth out silver and gold from the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and of the house of the king, and sendeth unto Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

Entonces Asa sacó plata y oro de los tesoros de la casa del Señor y de la casa del rey, y los envió a Ben Adad, rey de Aram, que habitaba en Damasco, diciéndole:

3 ` A covenant between me and thee, and between my father and thy father, lo, I have sent to thee silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he doth go up from off me.'

“ Haya alianza entre tú y yo, como hubo entre mi padre y tu padre. Mira, te he enviado plata y oro. Ve, rompe tu alianza con Baasa, rey de Israel, para que se aparte de mí.”

4 A nd Ben-Hadad hearkeneth unto king Asa, and sendeth the heads of the forces that he hath unto cities of Israel, and they smite Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Maim, and all the stores, cities of Naphtali.

Y Ben Adad escuchó al rey Asa y envió a los capitanes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel, y conquistaron Ijón, Dan, Bel Maim y todas las ciudades de almacenaje de Neftalí.

5 A nd it cometh to pass, at Baasha's hearing, that he ceaseth from building Ramah, and letteth his work rest;

Y cuando Baasa se enteró, dejó de fortificar Ramá, y abandonó su obra.

6 a nd Asa the king hath taken all Judah, and they bear away the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha hath built, and he buildeth with them Geba and Mizpah.

Entonces el rey Asa trajo a todo Judá, y se llevaron las piedras de Ramá y la madera con que Baasa la había estado edificando, y con ellas fortificó Geba y Mizpa.

7 A nd at that time hath Hanani the seer come in unto Asa king of Judah, and saith unto him, `Because of thy leaning on the king of Aram, and thou hast not leaned on Jehovah thy God, therefore hath the force of the king of Aram escaped from thy hand.

En ese tiempo el vidente Hananí vino a Asa, rey de Judá, y le dijo: “Por cuanto te has apoyado en el rey de Aram y no te has apoyado en el Señor tu Dios, por eso el ejército del rey de Aram ha escapado de tu mano.

8 D id not the Cushim and the Lubim become a very great force for multitude, for chariot, and for horsemen? and in thy leaning on Jehovah He gave them into thy hand,

¿No eran los Etíopes y los Libios un ejército numeroso con muchísimos carros y hombres de a caballo ? Sin embargo, porque te apoyaste en el Señor, El los entregó en tu mano.

9 f or Jehovah -- His eyes go to and fro in all the earth, to show Himself strong a people whose heart perfect towards Him; thou hast been foolish concerning this, because -- henceforth there are with thee wars.'

Porque los ojos del Señor recorren toda la tierra para fortalecer a aquéllos cuyo corazón es completamente Suyo. Tú has obrado neciamente en esto. Ciertamente, desde ahora habrá guerras contra ti.”

10 A nd Asa is angry at the seer, and giveth him to the house of torture, for in a rage with him for this; and Asa oppresseth of the people at that time.

Entonces Asa se irritó contra el vidente y lo metió en la cárcel, porque estaba enojado contra él por esto. Por ese tiempo, Asa oprimió a algunos del pueblo.

11 A nd lo, the matters of Asa, the first and the last, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Los hechos de Asa, los primeros y los postreros, están escritos en el Libro de los Reyes de Judá y de Israel.

12 A nd Asa is diseased -- in the thirty and ninth year of his reign -- in his feet, till his disease is excessive, and also in his disease he hath not sought Jehovah, but among physicians.

En el año treinta y nueve de su reinado, Asa se enfermó de los pies. Su enfermedad era grave, pero aun en su enfermedad no buscó al Señor, sino a los médicos.

13 A nd Asa lieth with his fathers, and dieth in the forty and first year of his reign,

Y Asa durmió con sus padres. Murió el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado.

14 a nd they bury him in his graves, that he had prepared for himself in the city of David, and they cause him to lie on a bed that hath filled spices, and divers kinds of mixtures, with perfumed work; and they burn for him a burning -- very great.

Lo sepultaron en el sepulcro que él había excavado para sí en la ciudad de David, y lo pusieron sobre el lecho que él había llenado de especias de varias clases, mezcladas según el arte de los perfumistas. Además le encendieron una hoguera muy grande.
