1 A nd it cometh to pass when all the kings of the Amorite which beyond the Jordan, towards the sea, and all the kings of the Canaanite which by the sea, hear how that Jehovah hath dried up the waters of the Jordan at the presence of the sons of Israel till their passing over, that their heart is melted, and there hath not been in them any more spirit because of the presence of the sons of Israel.

Cuando todos los reyes de los Amorreos que estaban al otro lado del Jordán hacia el occidente, y todos los reyes de los Cananeos que estaban junto al mar, oyeron cómo el Señor había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los Israelitas hasta que ellos habían pasado, sus corazones se acobardaron, y ya no había ánimo en ellos a causa de los Israelitas.

2 A t that time said Jehovah unto Joshua, `Make for thee knives of flint, and turn back, circumcise the sons of Israel a second time;'

En aquel tiempo el Señor dijo a Josué: “Hazte cuchillos de pedernal y vuelve a hacer la circuncisión, por segunda vez, a los Israelitas.”

3 a nd Joshua maketh for him knives of flint, and circumciseth the sons of Israel at the height of the foreskins.

Entonces Josué hizo cuchillos de pedernal y circuncidó a los Israelitas en la colina de Aralot.

4 A nd this the thing which Joshua circumciseth: all the people who are coming out of Egypt, who are males, all the men of war have died in the wilderness, in the way, in their coming out of Egypt,

Esta es la razón por la cual Josué los circuncidó: todos los del pueblo que salieron de Egipto que eran varones, todos los hombres de guerra, murieron en el desierto, por el camino, después que salieron de Egipto.

5 f or all the people who are coming out were circumcised, and all the people who born in the wilderness, in the way, in their coming out from Egypt, they have not circumcised;

Porque todos los del pueblo que salieron fueron circuncidados, pero todos los del pueblo que nacieron en el desierto, por el camino, después de salir de Egipto, no habían sido circuncidados.

6 f or forty years have the sons of Israel gone in the wilderness, till all the nation of the men of war who are coming out of Egypt, who hearkened not to the voice of Jehovah, to whom Jehovah hath sworn not to show them the land which Jehovah sware to their fathers to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey, are consumed;

Pues los Israelitas anduvieron por el desierto cuarenta años, hasta que pereció toda la nación, es decir, los hombres de guerra que salieron de Egipto, porque no escucharon la voz del Señor. A ellos el Señor les juró que no les permitiría ver la tierra que el Señor había jurado a sus padres que nos daría, una tierra que mana leche y miel.

7 a nd their sons He raised up in their stead, them hath Joshua circumcised, for they have been uncircumcised, for they have not circumcised them in the way.

Y a los hijos de ellos, que El levantó en su lugar, Josué los circuncidó; pues eran incircuncisos, porque no los habían circuncidado en el camino.

8 A nd it cometh to pass when all the nation have completed to be circumcised, that they abide in their places in the camp till their recovering;

Cuando terminaron de circuncidar a toda la nación, permanecieron en sus lugares en el campamento hasta que sanaron.

9 a nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `To-day I have rolled the reproach of Egypt from off you;' and calleth the name of that place Gilgal unto this day.

Entonces el Señor dijo a Josué: “Hoy he quitado de ustedes el oprobio de Egipto.” Por eso aquel lugar se ha llamado Gilgal hasta hoy.

10 A nd the sons of Israel encamp in Gilgal, and make the passover on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the plains of Jericho;

Estando los Israelitas acampados en Gilgal, celebraron la Pascua en la noche del día catorce del mes en los llanos de Jericó.

11 a nd they eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow of the passover, unleavened things and roasted, in this self-same day;

El día después de la Pascua, ese mismo día, comieron del producto de la tierra, panes sin levadura y cereal tostado.

12 a nd the manna doth cease on the morrow in their eating of the old corn of the land, and there hath been no more manna to the sons of Israel, and they eat of the increase of the land of Canaan in that year.

El maná cesó el día después que habían comido del producto de la tierra, y los Israelitas no tuvieron más maná, sino que comieron del producto de la tierra de Canaán durante aquel año. El Capitán del Ejército del Señor

13 A nd it cometh to pass in Joshua's being by Jericho, that he lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, one standing over-against him, and his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua goeth unto him, and saith to him, `Art thou for us or for our adversaries?'

Cuando Josué estaba ya cerca de Jericó, levantó los ojos y vio que un hombre estaba frente a él con una espada desenvainada en la mano, y Josué fue hacia él y le dijo: “¿Es usted de los nuestros o de nuestros enemigos?”

14 A nd He saith, `No, for I Prince of Jehovah's host; now I have come;' and Joshua falleth on his face to the earth, and doth obeisance, and saith to Him, `What is my Lord speaking unto His servant?'

“No,” respondió; “más bien yo vengo ahora como capitán del ejército del Señor.” Y Josué se postró en tierra, le hizo reverencia, y dijo: “¿Qué tiene que decirle mi señor a su siervo?”

15 A nd the Prince of Jehovah's host saith unto Joshua, `Cast off thy shoe from off thy foot, for the place on which thou art standing is holy;' and Joshua doth so;

Entonces el capitán del ejército del Señor dijo a Josué: “Quítate las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo.” Y así lo hizo Josué.
