1 W ords of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, of the priests who in Anathoth, in the land of Benjamin,

Palabras de Jeremías, hijo de Hilcías, de los sacerdotes que habitaban en Anatot, en la tierra de Benjamín,

2 u nto whom the word of Jehovah hath been in the days of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign,

a quien vino la palabra del Señor en los días de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, en el año trece de su reinado.

3 a nd it is in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, till the completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah, king of Judah, till the removal of Jerusalem in the fifth month.

También vino a él la palabra en los días de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, hasta el fin del año once de Sedequías, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, o sea, hasta el destierro de Jerusalén en el mes quinto.

4 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

5 ` Before I form thee in the belly, I have known thee; and before thou comest forth from the womb I have separated thee, a prophet to nations I have made thee.'

“Antes que Yo te formara en el seno materno, te conocí, Y antes que nacieras, te consagré; Te puse por profeta a las naciones.”

6 A nd I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah! lo, I have not known -- to speak, for I a youth.'

Entonces dije: “¡Ah, Señor Dios! No sé hablar, Porque soy joven.”

7 A nd Jehovah saith unto me, `Do not say, I a youth, for to all to whom I send thee thou goest, and all that I command thee thou speakest.

Pero el Señor me dijo: “No digas: ‘Soy joven,’ Porque adondequiera que te envíe, irás, Y todo lo que te mande, dirás.

8 B e not afraid of their faces, for with thee I to deliver thee, -- an affirmation of Jehovah.'

No tengas temor ante ellos, Porque contigo estoy para librarte,” declara el Señor.

9 A nd Jehovah putteth forth His hand, and striketh against my mouth, and Jehovah saith unto me, `Lo, I have put my words in thy mouth.

Entonces el Señor extendió Su mano y tocó mi boca. Y el Señor me dijo: “Yo he puesto Mis palabras en tu boca.

10 S ee, I have charged thee this day concerning the nations, and concerning the kingdoms, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.'

Mira, hoy te he dado autoridad sobre las naciones y sobre los reinos, Para arrancar y para derribar, Para destruir y para derrocar, Para edificar y para plantar.”

11 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `What art thou seeing, Jeremiah?' And I say, `A rod of an almond tree I am seeing.'

Vino entonces a mí la palabra del Señor: “¿Qué ves tú, Jeremías ?” “Veo una vara de almendro,” respondí.

12 A nd Jehovah saith unto me, `Thou hast well seen: for I am watching over My word to do it.'

“Bien has visto,” me dijo el Señor, “porque Yo velo sobre Mi palabra para cumplirla.”

13 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me a second time, saying, `What art thou seeing?' And I say, `A blown pot I am seeing, and its face from the north.'

Por segunda vez vino a mí la palabra del Señor: “¿Qué ves tú ?” “Veo una olla hirviendo que se vuelca desde el norte,” respondí.

14 A nd Jehovah saith unto me, `From the north is the evil loosed against all inhabitants of the land.

Entonces me dijo el Señor: “Desde el norte vendrá el mal Sobre todos los habitantes de esta tierra.

15 F or, lo, I am calling for all families of the kingdoms of the north, -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and they have come, and put each his throne at the opening of the gates of Jerusalem, and by its walls round about, and by all cities of Judah.

Porque Yo voy a llamar A todas las familias de los reinos del norte,” Declara el Señor. “Vendrán, y cada uno pondrá su trono A la entrada de las Puertas de Jerusalén, Frente a todos sus muros alrededor Y frente a todas las ciudades de Judá.

16 A nd I have spoken My judgments with them concerning all their evil, in that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other gods, and bow themselves to the works of their own hands.

17 ` And thou, thou dost gird up thy loins, and hast arisen, and spoken unto them all that I command thee: be not affrighted because of them, lest I affright thee before them.

Tú, pues, prepárate, Levántate y diles todo lo que Yo te mande. No temas ante ellos, No sea que Yo te infunda temor delante de ellos.

18 A nd I, lo, I have given thee this day for a fenced city, and for an iron pillar, and for brazen walls over all the land, to the kings of Judah, to its heads, to its priests, and to the people of the land;

Yo te he puesto hoy Como ciudad fortificada, Como columna de hierro y como muro de bronce Contra toda esta tierra: Contra los reyes de Judá, sus príncipes, Sus sacerdotes y el pueblo de la tierra.

19 a nd they have fought against thee, and they prevail not against thee; for with thee I, -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- to deliver thee.

Pelearán contra ti, pero no te vencerán, Porque Yo estoy contigo,” declara el Señor, “para librarte.”
