1 A nd Boaz hath gone up to the gate, and sitteth there, and lo, the redeemer is passing by of whom Boaz had spoken, and he saith, `Turn aside, sit down here, such a one, such a one;' and he turneth aside and sitteth down.

Booz subió a la puerta y allí se sentó, y cuando el pariente más cercano de quien Booz había hablado iba pasando, le dijo: “Oye, amigo, ven acá y siéntate.” Y él vino y se sentó.

2 A nd he taketh ten men of the elders of the city, and saith, `Sit down here;' and they sit down.

Y Booz tomó diez hombres de los ancianos de la ciudad, y les dijo: “Siéntense aquí.” Y ellos se sentaron.

3 A nd he saith to the redeemer, `A portion of the field which to our brother, to Elimelech, hath Naomi sold, who hath come back from the fields of Moab;

Entonces dijo al pariente más cercano: “Noemí, que volvió de la tierra de Moab, tiene que vender la parte de la tierra que pertenecía a nuestro hermano Elimelec.

4 a nd I said, I uncover thine ear, saying, Buy before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people; if thou dost redeem -- redeem, and if none doth redeem -- declare to me, and I know, for there is none save thee to redeem, and I after thee.' And he saith, I redeem.'

Y pensé informarte, diciéndo te: ‘Cómpra la en presencia de los que están aquí sentados, y en presencia de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si la vas a redimir, redíme la; y si no, díme lo para que yo lo sepa; porque no hay otro aparte de ti que la redima, y yo después de ti.’” El dijo: “ La redimiré.”

5 A nd Boaz saith, `In the day of thy buying the field from the hand of Naomi, then from Ruth the Moabitess, wife of the dead, thou hast bought, to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance.'

Entonces Booz dijo: “El día que compres el campo de manos de Noemí, también debes adquirir a Rut la Moabita, viuda del difunto, a fin de conservar el nombre del difunto en su heredad.”

6 A nd the redeemer saith, `I am not able to redeem for myself, lest I destroy mine inheritance; redeem for thyself -- thou -- my right of redemption, for I am not able to redeem.'

Y el pariente más cercano respondió: “No puedo redimir la para mí mismo, no sea que perjudique mi heredad. Redíme la para ti; usa tú mi derecho de redención, pues yo no puedo redimir la.”

7 A nd this formerly in Israel for redemption and for changing, to establish anything: a man hath drawn off his sandal, and given to his neighbour, and this the testimony in Israel.

Y la costumbre en tiempos pasados en Israel tocante a la redención y el intercambio de tierras para confirmar cualquier asunto era ésta: uno se quitaba la sandalia y se la daba al otro; y ésta era la manera de confirmar tratos en Israel.

8 A nd the redeemer saith to Boaz, `Buy for thyself,' and draweth off his sandal.

El pariente más cercano dijo a Booz: “Cómpra la para ti.” Y se quitó la sandalia.

9 A nd Boaz saith to the elders, and all the people, `Witnesses ye to-day that I have bought all that to Elimelech, and all that to Chilion and Mahlon, from the hand of Naomi;

Entonces Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: “Ustedes son testigos hoy que he comprado de la mano de Noemí todo lo que pertenecía a Elimelec y todo lo que pertenecía a Quelión y a Mahlón.

10 a nd also Ruth the Moabitess, wife of Mahlon, I have bought to myself for a wife, to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance; and the name of the dead is not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place; witnesses ye to-day.'

Además, he adquirido a Rut la Moabita, la viuda de Mahlón, para que sea mi mujer a fin de preservar el nombre del difunto en su heredad, para que el nombre del difunto no sea cortado de entre sus hermanos, ni del atrio de su lugar de nacimiento; ustedes son testigos hoy.”

11 A nd all the people who in the gate say -- also the elders -- `Witnesses! Jehovah make the woman who is coming in unto thy house as Rachel and as Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel; and do thou virtuously in Ephrathah, and proclaim the Name in Beth-Lehem;

Y todo el pueblo que estaba en el atrio, y los ancianos, dijeron: “ Somos testigos. Haga el Señor a la mujer que entra en tu casa como a Raquel y a Lea, las cuales edificaron la casa de Israel; y que tú adquieras riquezas en Efrata y seas célebre en Belén (Casa del Pan).

12 a nd let thy house be as the house of Pharez (whom Tamar bare to Judah), of the seed which Jehovah doth give to thee of this young woman.'

Además, sea tu casa como la casa de Fares, el que Tamar dio a luz a Judá, por medio de la descendencia que el Señor te dará de esta joven.” Booz se Casa con Rut

13 A nd Boaz taketh Ruth, and she becometh his wife, and he goeth in unto her, and Jehovah giveth to her conception, and she beareth a son.

Booz tomó a Rut y ella fue su mujer, y se llegó a ella. Y el Señor hizo que concibiera, y ella dio a luz un hijo.

14 A nd the women say unto Naomi, `Blessed Jehovah who hath not let a redeemer cease to thee to-day, and his name is proclaimed in Israel,

Entonces las mujeres dijeron a Noemí: “Bendito sea el Señor que no te ha dejado hoy sin redentor; que su nombre sea célebre en Israel.

15 a nd he hath been to thee for a restorer of life, and for a nourisher of thine old age, for thy daughter-in-law who hath loved thee -- who is better to thee than seven sons -- hath borne him.'

Que el niño también sea para ti restaurador de tu vida y sustentador de tu vejez; porque tu nuera, que te ama y que es de más valor para ti que siete hijos, lo ha dado a luz.”

16 A nd Naomi taketh the lad, and layeth him in her bosom, and is to him for a nurse;

Entonces Noemí tomó al niño, lo puso en su regazo y se encargó de criarlo.

17 a nd the neighbouring women give to him a name, saying, `There hath been a son born to Naomi,' and they call his name Obed; he father of Jesse, father of David.

Las mujeres vecinas le dieron un nombre y dijeron: “Le ha nacido un hijo a Noemí.” Y lo llamaron Obed. El es el padre de Isaí, padre de David.

18 A nd these are genealogies of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

19 a nd Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminidab,
