1 A nd Elihu answereth and saith: --

Continuó Eliú, y dijo:

2 T his hast thou reckoned for judgment: Thou hast said -- `My righteousness more than God's?'

“¿Piensas que esto es justo ? Dices: ‘Mi justicia es más que la de Dios.’

3 F or thou sayest, `What doth it profit Thee! What do I profit from my sin?'

Porque dices: ‘¿Qué ventaja será para Ti ? ¿Qué ganaré yo por no haber pecado ?’

4 I return thee words, and thy friends with thee,

Yo te daré razones, Y a tus amigos contigo.

5 B ehold attentively the heavens -- and see, And behold the clouds, They have been higher than thou.

Mira a los cielos y ve, Contempla las nubes, son más altas que tú.

6 I f thou hast sinned, what dost thou against Him? And thy transgressions have been multiplied, What dost thou to Him?

Si has pecado, ¿qué logras tú contra El? Y si tus transgresiones son muchas, ¿qué Le haces ?

7 I f thou hast been righteous, What dost thou give to Him? Or what from thy hand doth He receive?

Si eres justo, ¿qué Le das, O qué recibe El de tu mano?

8 F or a man like thyself thy wickedness, And for a son of man thy righteousness.

Tu maldad es para un hombre como tú, Y tu justicia para un hijo de hombre.

9 B ecause of the multitude of oppressions They cause to cry out, They cry because of the arm of the mighty.

A causa de la multitud de opresiones claman los hombres; Gritan a causa del brazo de los poderosos.

10 A nd none said, `Where God my maker? Giving songs in the night,

Pero ninguno dice: ‘¿Dónde está Dios mi Hacedor, Que inspira cánticos en la noche,

11 T eaching us more than the beasts of the earth, Yea, than the fowl of the heavens He maketh us wiser.'

Que nos enseña más que a las bestias de la tierra, Y nos hace más sabios que las aves de los cielos?’

12 T here they cry, and He doth not answer, Because of the pride of evil doers.

Allí claman, pero El no responde A causa del orgullo de los malos.

13 S urely vanity God doth not hear, And the Mighty doth not behold it.

Ciertamente el clamor vano no escuchará Dios, El Todopoderoso (Shaddai) no lo tomará en cuenta.

14 Y ea, though thou sayest thou dost not behold Him, Judgment before Him, and stay for Him.

Cuánto menos cuando dices que no Lo contemplas, Que la causa está delante de El, y tienes que esperarlo.

15 A nd, now, because there is not, He hath appointed His anger, And He hath not known in great extremity.

Y ahora, porque El no ha castigado con Su ira, Ni se ha fijado bien en la transgresión,

16 A nd Job vanity doth open his mouth, Without knowledge words he multiplieth.

Job abre vanamente su boca, Multiplica palabras sin sabiduría.”
