1 A nd Korah, son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, taketh both Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, sons of Reuben,

Y se rebeló Coré, hijo de Izhar, hijo de Coat, hijo de Leví, con Datán y Abiram, hijos de Eliab, y On, hijo de Pelet, hijos de Rubén,

2 a nd they rise up before Moses, with men of the sons of Israel, two hundred and fifty, princes of the company, called of the convention, men of name,

y se alzaron contra Moisés, junto con algunos de los Israelitas, 250 jefes de la congregación, escogidos en la asamblea, hombres de renombre.

3 a nd they are assembled against Moses and against Aaron, and say unto them, `Enough of you! for all the company -- all of them holy, and in their midst Jehovah; and wherefore do ye lift yourselves up above the assembly of Jehovah?'

Y se juntaron contra Moisés y Aarón, y les dijeron: “¡Basta ya de ustedes! Porque toda la congregación, todos ellos son santos, y el Señor está en medio de ellos. ¿Por qué, entonces, ustedes se levantan por encima de la asamblea del Señor ?”

4 A nd Moses heareth, and falleth on his face,

Cuando Moisés escuchó esto, cayó sobre su rostro;

5 a nd he speaketh unto Korah, and unto all his company, saying, `Morning! -- and Jehovah is knowing those who are his, and him who is holy, and hath brought near unto Him; even him whom He doth fix on He bringeth near unto Him.

y habló a Coré y a todo su grupo y dijo: “Mañana temprano el Señor mostrará quién es de El, y quién es santo, y lo acercará a El; aquél a quien El escoja, lo acercará a El.

6 T his do: take to yourselves censers, Korah, and all his company,

Hagan esto, Coré y todo el grupo suyo: tomen incensarios para ustedes,

7 a nd put in them fire, and put on them perfume, before Jehovah to-morrow, and it hath been, the man whom Jehovah chooseth, he the holy one; -- enough of you, sons of Levi.'

y pongan fuego en ellos, y echen incienso sobre ellos mañana en la presencia del Señor; y el hombre a quien el Señor escoja será el que es santo. ¡Basta ya de ustedes, hijos de Leví!”

8 A nd Moses saith unto Korah, `Hear ye, I pray you, sons of Levi;

Entonces Moisés dijo a Coré: “Oigan ahora, hijos de Leví.

9 i s it little to you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the company of Israel to bring you near unto Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of Jehovah, and to stand before the company to serve them? --

¿No les es suficiente que el Dios de Israel los haya separado del resto de la congregación de Israel, para acercarlos a El, a fin de cumplir el ministerio del tabernáculo del Señor, y para estar ante la congregación para ministrarles,

10 y ea, He doth bring thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee -- and ye have sought also the priesthood!

y que se te ha acercado a ti, Coré, y a todos tus hermanos, hijos de Leví, contigo? ¿Y pretenden también el sacerdocio ?

11 T herefore, thou and all thy company who are met against Jehovah; and Aaron, what he, that ye murmur against him?'

Por tanto, tú y toda tu compañía se han juntado contra el Señor; pues en cuanto a Aarón, ¿quién es él para que murmuren contra él ?”

12 A nd Moses sendeth to call for Dathan and for Abiram sons of Eliab, and they say, `We do not come up;

Entonces Moisés mandó llamar a Datán y a Abiram, hijos de Eliab, pero ellos dijeron: “No iremos.

13 i s it little that thou hast brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to put us to death in a wilderness that thou also certainly makest thyself prince over us?

¿No es suficiente que nos hayas sacado de una tierra que mana leche y miel para que muramos en el desierto, sino que también quieras enseñorearte sobre nosotros?

14 Y ea, unto a land flowing with milk and honey thou hast not brought us in, nor dost thou give to us an inheritance of field and vineyard; the eyes of these men dost thou pick out? we do not come up.'

En verdad, tú no nos has traído a una tierra que mana leche y miel, ni nos has dado herencia de campos y viñas. ¿Les sacarías los ojos a estos hombres ? ¡No iremos!”

15 A nd it is very displeasing to Moses, and he saith unto Jehovah, `Turn not Thou unto their present; not one ass from them have I taken, nor have I afflicted one of them.'

Moisés se enojó mucho y dijo al Señor: “¡No aceptes su ofrenda! No he tomado de ellos ni un solo asno, ni le he hecho daño a ninguno de ellos.”

16 A nd Moses saith unto Korah, `Thou and all thy company, be ye before Jehovah, thou, and they, and Aaron, to-morrow;

Y dijo Moisés a Coré: “Tú y toda tu compañía preséntense mañana delante del Señor; tú, ellos y Aarón.

17 a nd take ye each his censer, and ye have put on them perfume, and brought near before Jehovah, each his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; and thou and Aaron, each his censer.'

Cada uno de ustedes tome su incensario y ponga incienso en él, y cada uno de ustedes traiga su incensario delante del Señor, 250 incensarios; tú también, y Aarón, cada uno traiga su incensario.”

18 A nd they take each his censer, and put on them fire, and lay on them perfume, and they stand at the opening of the tent of meeting, with Moses and Aaron.

Y cada uno tomó su incensario y puso fuego en él, y echó incienso en él; y se pusieron a la puerta de la tienda de reunión con Moisés y Aarón.

19 A nd Korah assembleth against them all the company unto the opening of the tent of meeting, and the honour of Jehovah is seen by all the company.

Así reunió Coré a toda la congregación en contra de ellos a la puerta de la tienda de reunión, y la gloria del Señor apareció a toda la congregación. Castigo de Coré, sus Compañeros y sus Familias

20 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

Entonces el Señor habló a Moisés y a Aarón:

21 ` Be ye separated from the midst of this company, and I consume them in a moment;'

“Apártense de entre esta congregación, para que Yo la destruya en un instante.”

22 a nd they fall on their faces, and say, `God, God of the spirits of all flesh -- the one man sinneth, and against all the company Thou art wroth!'

Pero ellos cayeron sobre sus rostros, y dijeron: “Oh Dios, Dios de los espíritus de toda carne (de todo ser humano), cuando un hombre peque, ¿te enojarás con toda la congregación ?”

23 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Entonces respondió el Señor a Moisés:

24 ` Speak unto the company, saying, Go ye up from round about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.'

“Habla a la congregación, y diles: ‘Aléjense de los alrededores de las tiendas de Coré, Datán y Abiram.’”

25 A nd Moses riseth, and goeth unto Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel go after him,

Entonces se levantó Moisés y fue a Datán y a Abiram, y le seguían los ancianos de Israel,

26 a nd he speaketh unto the company, saying, `Turn aside, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and come not against anything that they have, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.'

y habló a la congregación: “Apártense ahora de las tiendas de estos malvados, y no toquen nada que les pertenezca, no sea que perezcan con todo su pecado.”

27 A nd they go up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, from round about, and Dathan, and Abiram have come out, standing at the opening of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their infants.

Se retiraron, pues, de los alrededores de las tiendas de Coré, Datán y Abiram; y Datán y Abiram salieron y se pusieron a la puerta de sus tiendas, junto con sus mujeres, sus hijos y sus pequeños.

28 A nd Moses saith, `By this ye do know that Jehovah hath sent me to do all these works, that not from my own heart;

Y Moisés dijo: “En esto conocerán que el Señor me ha enviado para hacer todas estas obras, y que no es iniciativa mía.

29 i f according to the death of all men these die -- or the charge of all men is charged upon them -- Jehovah hath not sent me;

Si éstos mueren como mueren todos los hombres o si sufren la suerte de todos los hombres, entonces el Señor no me envió.

30 a nd if a strange thing Jehovah do, and the ground hath opened her mouth and swallowed them, and all that they have, and they have gone down alive to Sheol -- then ye have known that these men have despised Jehovah.'

Pero si el Señor hace algo enteramente nuevo y la tierra abre su boca y los traga con todo lo que les pertenece, y descienden vivos al Seol (región de los muertos), entonces sabrán que estos hombres han despreciado al Señor.”

31 A nd it cometh to pass at his finishing speaking all these words, that the ground which under them cleaveth,

Y aconteció que cuando terminó de hablar todas estas palabras, la tierra debajo de ellos se partió,

32 a nd the earth openeth her mouth, and swalloweth them, and their houses, and all the men who for Korah, and all the goods,

y la tierra abrió su boca y se los tragó, a ellos y a sus casas y a todos los hombres de Coré con todos sus bienes.

33 a nd they go down, they, and all that they have, alive to Sheol, and the earth closeth over them, and they perish from the midst of the assembly;

Ellos y todo lo que les pertenecía descendieron vivos al Seol; y la tierra los cubrió y perecieron de en medio de la asamblea.

34 a nd all Israel who round about them have fled at their voice, for they said, `Lest the earth swallow us;'

Todos los Israelitas que estaban alrededor de ellos huyeron a sus gritos, pues decían: “¡No sea que la tierra nos trague!”

35 a nd fire hath come out from Jehovah, and consumeth the two hundred and fifty men bringing near the perfume.

Salió también fuego del Señor y consumió a los 250 hombres que ofrecían el incienso.

36 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Entonces el Señor habló a Moisés y dijo:

37 ` Say unto Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, and he lifteth up the censers from the midst of the burning, and the fire scatter thou yonder, for they have been hallowed,

“Dile a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que levante los incensarios de en medio de la hoguera, pues son santos; y esparce allí las brasas.

38 t he censers of these sinners against their own souls; and they have made them spread-out plates, a covering for the altar, for they have brought them near before Jehovah, and they are hallowed; and they are become a sign to the sons of Israel.'

En cuanto a los incensarios de estos que han pecado a costa de sus vidas, que se hagan de ellos láminas batidas para cubrir el altar, puesto que los presentaron ante el Señor y son santos; y serán por señal a los Israelitas.”

39 A nd Eleazar the priest taketh the brazen censers which they who are burnt had brought near, and they spread them out, a covering for the altar --

El sacerdote Eleazar tomó los incensarios de bronce que habían presentado los que fueron quemados, y a golpe de martillo los hicieron una cubierta para el altar,

40 a memorial to the sons of Israel, so that a stranger who is not of the seed of Aaron doth not draw near to make a perfume before Jehovah, and is not as Korah, and as his company, -- as Jehovah hath spoken by the hand of Moses to him.

como recordatorio (memorial) para los Israelitas de que ningún laico (extraño), que no fuera descendiente de Aarón, debería acercarse a quemar incienso delante del Señor, para que no le sucediera como a Coré y a su grupo, tal como el Señor se lo había dicho por medio de Moisés. Plaga Mortal por Causa de las Quejas del Pueblo

41 A nd all the company of the sons of Israel murmur, on the morrow, against Moses and against Aaron, saying, `Ye -- ye have put to death the people of Jehovah.'

Pero al día siguiente, toda la congregación de los Israelitas murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón, diciendo: “Ustedes son los que han sido la causa de la muerte del pueblo del Señor.”

42 A nd it cometh to pass, in the company being assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they turn towards the tent of meeting, and lo, the cloud hath covered it, and the honour of Jehovah is seen;

Sucedió, sin embargo, que cuando la congregación se había juntado contra Moisés y Aarón, se volvieron hacia la tienda de reunión y vieron que la nube la cubría, y la gloria del Señor apareció.

43 a nd Moses cometh -- Aaron also -- unto the front of the tent of meeting.

Entonces Moisés y Aarón fueron al frente de la tienda de reunión,

44 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

y el Señor habló a Moisés y dijo:

45 ` Get you up from the midst of this company, and I consume them in a moment;' and they fall on their faces,

“Apártense de en medio de esta congregación, para que Yo la destruya en un instante.” Entonces ellos cayeron sobre sus rostros.

46 a nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take the censer, and put on it fire from off the altar, and place perfume, and go, hasten unto the company, and make atonement for them, for the wrath hath gone out from the presence of Jehovah -- the plague hath begun.'

Y Moisés le dijo a Aarón: “Toma tu incensario y pon en él fuego del altar, y echa incienso en él; tráelo entonces pronto a la congregación y haz expiación por ellos, porque la ira ha salido de parte del Señor. ¡La plaga ha comenzado!”

47 A nd Aaron taketh as Moses hath spoken, and runneth unto the midst of the assembly, and lo, the plague hath begun among the people; and he giveth the perfume, and maketh atonement for the people,

Aarón tomó el incensario como Moisés le había dicho, y corrió hacia el medio de la asamblea, pues vio que la plaga ya había comenzado entre el pueblo. Y echó el incienso e hizo expiación por el pueblo.

48 a nd standeth between the dead and the living, and the plague is restrained;

Entonces se colocó entre los muertos y los vivos, y la plaga se detuvo.

49 a nd those who die by the plague are fourteen thousand and seven hundred, apart from those who die for the matter of Korah;

Y los que murieron a causa de la plaga fueron 14, 700 sin contar los que murieron por causa de Coré.

50 a nd Aaron turneth back unto Moses, unto the opening of the tent of meeting, and the plague hath been restrained.

Después Aarón regresó a Moisés a la puerta de la tienda de reunión, pues la plaga había sido detenida.
