1 A son of eight years Josiah in his reigning, and thirty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Jedidah daughter of Adaiah of Boskath,

Josías tenía ocho años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó treinta y un años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Jedida, hija de Adaía, de Boscat.

2 a nd he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in all the way of David his father, and hath not turned aside -- right or left.

Hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor y anduvo en todo el camino de su padre David; no se apartó ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda.

3 A nd it cometh to pass, in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, the king hath sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Jehovah, saying,

Y en el año dieciocho del rey Josías, el rey envió al escriba Safán, hijo de Azalía, de Mesulam, a la casa del Señor, diciéndole:

4 ` Go up unto Hilkiah the high priest, and he doth complete the silver that is brought into the house of Jehovah, that the keepers of the threshold have gathered from the people,

“Ve al sumo sacerdote Hilcías para que cuente el dinero traído a la casa del Señor, que los guardianes del umbral han recogido del pueblo,

5 a nd they give it into the hand of the doers of the work, the overseers, in the house of Jehovah, and they give it to the doers of the work that in the house of Jehovah, to strengthen the breach of the house,

y que lo pongan en mano de los obreros encargados de supervisar la casa del Señor, y que ellos lo den a los obreros que están asignados en la casa del Señor para reparar los daños de la casa,

6 t o artificers, and to builders, and the wall, and to buy wood and hewn stones to strengthen the house;

a los carpinteros, a los constructores y a los albañiles, y para comprar maderas y piedra de cantería para reparar la casa.

7 o nly, the silver that is given into their hand is not reckoned with them, for in faithfulness they are dealing.

Pero no se les pedirá cuenta del dinero entregado en sus manos porque obran con fidelidad.” Hallazgo del Libro de la Ley

8 A nd Hilkiah the high priest saith unto Shaphan the scribe, `A book of the law I have found in the house of Jehovah;' and Hilkiah giveth the book unto Shaphan, and he readeth it.

Entonces el sumo sacerdote Hilcías dijo al escriba Safán: “He hallado el Libro de la Ley en la casa del Señor.” E Hilcías dio el libro a Safán, y éste lo leyó.

9 A nd Shaphan the scribe cometh in unto the king, and bringeth the king back word, and saith, `Thy servants have poured out the silver that hath been found in the house, and give it into the hand of the doers of the work, the inspectors, in the house of Jehovah.'

Y el escriba Safán vino al rey, y trajo palabra al rey, diciendo: “Sus siervos han tomado el dinero que se halló en la casa, y lo han puesto en mano de los obreros encargados de supervisar la casa del Señor.”

10 A nd Shaphan the scribe declareth to the king, saying, `A book hath Hilkiah the priest given to me;' and Shaphan readeth it before the king.

El escriba Safán informó también al rey: “El sacerdote Hilcías me ha dado un libro.” Y Safán lo leyó en la presencia del rey.

11 A nd it cometh to pass, at the king's hearing the words of the book of the law, that he rendeth his garments,

Cuando el rey oyó las palabras del Libro de la Ley, rasgó sus vestidos.

12 a nd the king commandeth Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Achbor son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah servant of the king, saying,

Entonces el rey ordenó al sacerdote Hilcías, a Ahicam, hijo de Safán, a Acbor, hijo de Micaías, al escriba Safán y a Asaías, siervo del rey:

13 ` Go, seek Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found, for great the fury of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because that our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according to all that is written for us.'

“Vayan, consulten al Señor por mí, por el pueblo y por todo Judá acerca de las palabras de este libro que se ha encontrado, porque grande es la ira del Señor que se ha encendido contra nosotros, por cuanto nuestros padres no han escuchado las palabras de este libro, haciendo conforme a todo lo que está escrito de nosotros.”

14 A nd Hilkiah the priest goeth, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, unto Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum, son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the garments, and she is dwelling in Jerusalem in the second, and they speak unto her.

Entonces el sacerdote Hilcías, y Ahicam, Acbor, Safán y Asaías fueron a la profetisa Hulda, mujer de Salum, hijo de Ticva, hijo de Harhas, encargado del vestuario. Ella habitaba en Jerusalén en el segundo sector, y hablaron con ella.

15 A nd she saith unto them, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Say to the man who hath sent you unto me:

Y ella les dijo: “Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: ‘Digan al hombre que los ha enviado a mí:

16 T hus said Jehovah, Lo, I am bringing in evil unto this place and on its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah hath read,

Así dice el Señor: “Voy a traer mal sobre este lugar y sobre sus habitantes, según todas las palabras del libro que ha leído el rey de Judá.

17 b ecause that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other gods, so as to provoke Me to anger with every work of their hands, and My wrath hath been kindled against this place, and it is not quenched.

Por cuanto Me han abandonado y han quemado incienso a otros dioses para provocarme a ira con toda la obra de sus manos, por tanto Mi ira arde contra este lugar y no se apagará.”’

18 ` And unto the king of Judah, who is sending you to seek Jehovah, thus do ye say unto him, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, The words that thou hast heard --

“Pero al rey de Judá que los envió a consultar al Señor, así le dirán: ‘Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: “ En cuanto a las palabras que has oído,

19 b ecause thy heart tender, and thou art humbled because of Jehovah, in thy hearing that which I have spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, to be for a desolation, and for a reviling, and dost rend thy garments, and weep before Me -- I also have heard -- the affirmation of Jehovah --

porque se enterneció tu corazón y te humillaste delante del Señor cuando oíste lo que hablé contra este lugar y contra sus habitantes, que vendrían a ser desolación y maldición, y has rasgado tus vestidos y has llorado delante de Mí, ciertamente te he oído,’ declara el Señor.

20 t herefore, lo, I am gathering thee unto thy fathers, and thou hast been gathered unto thy grave in peace, and thine eyes do not look on any of the evil that I am bringing in on this place;' and they bring the king back word.

Por tanto, te reuniré con tus padres y serás recogido en tu sepultura en paz, y tus ojos no verán todo el mal que Yo voy a traer sobre este lugar.”’” Y llevaron la respuesta al rey.
