1 A nd he came to Derbe and Lystra, and lo, a certain disciple was there, by name Timotheus son of a certain woman, a believing Jewess, but of a father, a Greek,

Pablo llegó también a Derbe y a Listra. Y estaba allí cierto discípulo llamado Timoteo, hijo de una mujer Judía creyente, pero de padre Griego,

2 w ho was well testified to by the brethren in Lystra and Iconium;

del cual hablaban elogiosamente los hermanos que estaban en Listra y en Iconio.

3 t his one did Paul wish to go forth with him, and having taken, he circumcised him, because of the Jews who are in those places, for they all knew his father -- that he was a Greek.

Pablo quiso que éste fuera con él, y lo tomó y lo circuncidó por causa de los Judíos que había en aquellas regiones, porque todos sabían que su padre era Griego.

4 A nd as they were going on through the cities, they were delivering to them the decrees to keep, that have been judged by the apostles and the elders who in Jerusalem,

Según pasaban por las ciudades, entregaban los acuerdos tomados por los apóstoles y los ancianos que estaban en Jerusalén, para que los observaran.

5 t hen, indeed, were the assemblies established in the faith, and were abounding in number every day;

Así que las iglesias eran confirmadas en la fe, y diariamente crecían en número. Visión de Pablo del Hombre Macedonio

6 a nd having gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia,

Pasaron por la región de Frigia y Galacia, habiendo sido impedidos por el Espíritu Santo de hablar la palabra en Asia (provincia occidental de Asia Menor).

7 h aving gone toward Mysia, they were trying to go on toward Bithynia, and the Spirit did not suffer them,

Cuando llegaron a Misia, intentaron ir a Bitinia, pero el Espíritu de Jesús no se lo permitió.

8 a nd having passed by Mysia, they came down to Troas.

Entonces pasando por Misia, descendieron a Troas.

9 A nd a vision through the night appeared to Paul -- a certain man of Macedonia was standing, calling upon him, and saying, `Having passed through to Macedonia, help us;' --

Por la noche se le mostró a Pablo una visión: un hombre de Macedonia estaba de pie, suplicándole: “Pasa a Macedonia y ayúdanos.”

10 a nd when he saw the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go forth to Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord hath called us to preach good news to them,

11 h aving set sail, therefore, from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, on the morrow also to Neapolis,

12 t hence also to Philippi, which is a principal city of the part of Macedonia -- a colony. And we were in this city abiding certain days,

De allí fuimos a Filipos, que es una ciudad principal de la provincia de Macedonia, una colonia Romana; en esta ciudad nos quedamos por varios días.

13 o n the sabbath-day also we went forth outside of the city, by a river, where there used to be prayer, and having sat down, we were speaking to the women who came together,

14 a nd a certain woman, by name Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, worshipping God, was hearing, whose heart the Lord did open to attend to the things spoken by Paul;

Y estaba escuchando cierta mujer llamada Lidia, de la ciudad de Tiatira, vendedora de telas de púrpura, que adoraba a Dios; y el Señor abrió su corazón para que recibiera lo que Pablo decía.

15 a nd when she was baptized, and her household, she did call upon us, saying, `If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, having entered into my house, remain;' and she constrained us.

16 A nd it came to pass in our going on to prayer, a certain maid, having a spirit of Python, did meet us, who brought much employment to her masters by soothsaying,

Mientras íbamos al lugar de oración, nos salió al encuentro una muchacha esclava que tenía espíritu de adivinación, la cual daba grandes ganancias a sus amos, adivinando.

17 s he having followed Paul and us, was crying, saying, `These men are servants of the Most High God, who declare to us a way of salvation;'

Esta, siguiendo a Pablo y a nosotros, gritaba: “Estos hombres son siervos del Dios Altísimo, quienes les proclaman el camino de salvación.”

18 a nd this she was doing for many days, but Paul having been grieved, and having turned, said to the spirit, `I command thee, in the name of Jesus Christ, to come forth from her;' and it came forth the same hour.

Esto lo hacía por muchos días; pero desagradando esto a Pablo, se volvió y dijo al espíritu: “¡Te ordeno, en el nombre de Jesucristo, que salgas de ella!” Y el espíritu salió en aquel mismo momento.

19 A nd her masters having seen that the hope of their employment was gone, having caught Paul and Silas, drew to the market-place, unto the rulers,

Pero cuando sus amos vieron que se les había ido la esperanza de ganancia para ellos, prendieron a Pablo y a Silas, y los arrastraron hasta la plaza, ante las autoridades.

20 a nd having brought them to the magistrates, they said, `These men do exceedingly trouble our city, being Jews;

Después de haberlos presentado a los magistrados superiores, dijeron: “Estos hombres, siendo Judíos, alborotan nuestra ciudad,

21 a nd they proclaim customs that are not lawful for us to receive nor to do, being Romans.'

y proclaman costumbres que no nos es lícito aceptar ni observar, puesto que somos Romanos.”

22 A nd the multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates having torn their garments from them, were commanding to beat with rods,

La multitud se levantó a una contra ellos, y los magistrados superiores, rasgándoles sus ropas, ordenaron que los azotaran con varas.

23 m any blows also having laid upon them, they cast them to prison, having given charge to the jailor to keep them safely,

24 w ho such a charge having received, did put them to the inner prison, and their feet made fast in the stocks.

25 A nd at midnight Paul and Silas praying, were singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were hearing them,

Como a medianoche, Pablo y Silas oraban y cantaban himnos a Dios, y los presos los escuchaban.

26 a nd suddenly a great earthquake came, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, opened also presently were all the doors, and of all -- the bands were loosed;

De repente se produjo un gran terremoto, de tal manera que los cimientos de la cárcel fueron sacudidos. Al instante se abrieron todas las puertas y las cadenas de todos se soltaron.

27 a nd the jailor having come out of sleep, and having seen the doors of the prison open, having drawn a sword, was about to kill himself, supposing the prisoners to be fled,

Al despertar el carcelero y ver abiertas todas las puertas de la cárcel, sacó su espada y se iba a matar, creyendo que los prisioneros se habían escapado.

28 a nd Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, `Thou mayest not do thyself any harm, for we are all here.'

Pero Pablo clamó a gran voz, diciendo: “No te hagas ningún mal, pues todos estamos aquí.”

29 A nd, having asked for a light, he sprang in, and trembling he fell down before Paul and Silas,

Entonces él pidió luz y se precipitó adentro, y temblando, se postró ante Pablo y Silas,

30 a nd having brought them forth, said, `Sirs, what must I do -- that I may be saved?'

y después de sacarlos, dijo: “Señores, ¿qué debo hacer para ser salvo?”

31 a nd they said, `Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved -- thou and thy house;'

Ellos respondieron: “Cree en el Señor Jesús, y serás salvo, tú y toda tu casa.”

32 a nd they spake to him the word of the Lord, and to all those in his household;

Y le hablaron la palabra del Señor a él y a todos los que estaban en su casa.

33 a nd having taken them, in that hour of the night, he did bathe from the blows, and was baptized, himself and all his presently,

El carcelero los tomó en aquella misma hora de la noche y les lavó las heridas, y enseguida fue bautizado con todos los suyos.

34 h aving brought them also into his house, he set food before, and was glad with all the household, he having believed in God.

Llevándolos a su hogar, les dio de comer, y se regocijó grandemente por haber creído en Dios con todos los suyos. Vindicación de Pablo y Silas

35 A nd day having come, the magistrates sent the rod-bearers, saying, `Let those men go;'

Cuando se hizo de día, los magistrados superiores enviaron a sus oficiales, diciendo: “Suelta a esos hombres.”

36 a nd the jailor told these words unto Paul -- `The magistrates have sent, that ye may be let go; now, therefore, having gone forth go on in peace;'

El carcelero comunicó a Pablo estas palabras, diciendo: “Los magistrados superiores han dado orden de que les suelte. Así que, salgan ahora y vayan en paz.”

37 a nd Paul said to them, `Having beaten us publicly uncondemned -- men, Romans being -- they did cast to prison, and now privately do they cast us forth! why no! but having come themselves, let them bring us forth.'

Pero Pablo les dijo: “Aunque somos ciudadanos Romanos, nos han azotado públicamente sin hacernos juicio y nos han echado a la cárcel; ¿y ahora nos sueltan en secreto? ¡De ninguna manera! Que ellos mismos vengan a sacarnos.”

38 A nd the rod-bearers told to the magistrates these sayings, and they were afraid, having heard that they are Romans,

Los oficiales informaron esto a los magistrados superiores, y al saber que eran ciudadanos Romanos, tuvieron temor.

39 a nd having come, they besought them, and having brought forth, they were asking to go forth from the city;

Entonces vinieron y les suplicaron, y después de sacarlos, les rogaban que salieran de la ciudad.

40 a nd they, having gone forth out of the prison, entered into Lydia, and having seen the brethren, they comforted them, and went forth.
