1 A nd upon Azariah son of Oded hath been the Spirit of God,

El Espíritu de Dios vino sobre Azarías, hijo de Oded,

2 a nd he goeth out before Asa, and saith to him, `Hear, me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; Jehovah with you -- in your being with Him, and if ye seek Him, He is found of you, and if ye forsake Him, He forsaketh you;

y salió al encuentro de Asa y le dijo: “Oiganme, Asa y todo Judá y Benjamín: el Señor estará con ustedes mientras ustedes estén con El. Y si Lo buscan, se dejará encontrar por ustedes; pero si Lo abandonan, El los abandonará.

3 a nd many days to Israel without a true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law,

Por muchos días Israel estuvo sin el Dios verdadero y sin sacerdote que enseñara, y sin ley.

4 a nd it turneth back in its distress unto Jehovah, God of Israel, and they seek Him, and He is found of them,

Pero en su angustia se volvieron al Señor, Dios de Israel, y Lo buscaron, y El se dejó encontrar por ellos.

5 a nd in those times there is no peace to him who is going out, and to him who is coming in, for many troubles on all the inhabitants of the lands,

En aquellos tiempos no había paz para el que salía ni para el que entraba, sino muchas tribulaciones sobre todos los habitantes de las tierras.

6 a nd they have been beaten down, nation by nation, and city by city, for God hath troubled them with every adversity;

Y era destruida nación por nación, y ciudad por ciudad, porque Dios los afligió con toda clase de adversidades.

7 a nd ye, be ye strong, and let not your hands be feeble, for there is a reward for your work.'

Pero ustedes, esfuércense y no desmayen, porque hay recompensa por sus obras.”

8 A nd at Asa's hearing these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he hath strengthened himself, and doth cause the abominations to pass away out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities that he hath captured from the hill-country of Ephraim, and reneweth the altar of Jehovah that before the porch of Jehovah,

Cuando Asa oyó estas palabras y la profecía del profeta Azarías, hijo de Oded, se animó y quitó los ídolos abominables de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de las ciudades que había conquistado en la región montañosa de Efraín. También restauró el altar del Señor que estaba delante del pórtico del Señor.

9 a nd gathereth all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them out of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and out of Simeon -- for they have fallen unto him from Israel in abundance, in their seeing that Jehovah his God with him.

Entonces reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín y a los de Efraín, Manasés y Simeón que residían con ellos. Porque muchos de Israel se pasaron a él cuando vieron que el Señor su Dios estaba con él.

10 A nd they are gathered to Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,

Así que se reunieron en Jerusalén en el tercer mes del año quince del reinado de Asa.

11 a nd sacrifice to Jehovah on that day from the spoil they have brought in -- oxen seven hundred, and sheep seven thousand,

Y aquel día sacrificaron al Señor 700 bueyes y 7, 000 ovejas del botín que habían traído.

12 a nd they enter into a covenant to seek Jehovah, God of their fathers, with all their heart, and with all their soul,

Hicieron pacto para buscar al Señor, Dios de sus padres, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma;

13 a nd every one who doth not seek for Jehovah, God of Israel, is put to death, from small unto great, from man unto woman.

y que todo el que no buscara al Señor, Dios de Israel, moriría, ya fuera pequeño o grande, hombre o mujer.

14 A nd they swear to Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets,

Además, lo juraron al Señor a gran voz, con gritos, trompetas y cuernos.

15 a nd rejoice do all Judah concerning the oath, for with all their heart they have sworn, and with all their good-will they have sought Him, and He is found of them, and Jehovah giveth rest to them round about.

Y todo Judá se alegró en cuanto al juramento, porque habían jurado de todo corazón y habían buscado sinceramente al Señor y El se dejó encontrar por ellos. Y el Señor les dio tranquilidad por todas partes.

16 A nd also Maachah, mother of Asa the king -- he hath removed her from mistress, in that she hath made for a shrine a horrible thing, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and beateth small, and burneth by the brook Kidron:

El rey Asa también depuso a Maaca, su madre, de ser reina madre, porque ella había hecho una horrible imagen de Asera (diosa de Canaán). Asa derribó la horrible imagen, la hizo pedazos y la quemó junto al torrente Cedrón.

17 y et the high places have not turned aside from Israel; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect all his days.

Pero los lugares altos no fueron quitados de Israel; sin embargo, el corazón de Asa fue intachable todos sus días.

18 A nd he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

Y trajo a la casa de Dios las cosas consagradas por su padre y sus propias cosas consagradas: plata, oro y utensilios.

19 A nd war hath not been till the thirty and fifth year of the reign of Asa.

No hubo más guerra hasta el año treinta y cinco del reinado de Asa.
