1 A nd the people is evil, as those sighing habitually in the ears of Jehovah, and Jehovah heareth, and His anger burneth, and the fire of Jehovah burneth among them, and consumeth in the extremity of the camp.

El pueblo comenzó a quejarse en la adversidad a oídos del Señor; y cuando el Señor lo oyó, se encendió Su ira, y el fuego del Señor ardió entre ellos y consumió un extremo del campamento.

2 A nd the people cry unto Moses, and Moses prayeth unto Jehovah, and the fire is quenched;

Entonces el pueblo clamó a Moisés, y Moisés oró al Señor y el fuego se apagó.

3 a nd he calleth the name of that place Taberah, for the fire of Jehovah hath `burned' among them.

Y se le dio a aquel lugar el nombre de Tabera (Encendido), porque el fuego del Señor había ardido entre ellos.

4 A nd the rabble who in its midst have lusted greatly, and the sons of Israel also turn back and weep, and say, `Who doth give us flesh?

El populacho que estaba entre ellos tenía un deseo insaciable; y también los Israelitas volvieron a llorar, y dijeron: “¿Quién nos dará carne para comer ?

5 W e have remembered the fish which we do eat in Egypt for nought, the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick;

Nos acordamos del pescado que comíamos gratis en Egipto, de los pepinos, de los melones, los puerros, las cebollas y los ajos;

6 a nd now our soul dry, there is not anything, save the manna, before our eyes.'

pero ahora no tenemos apetito. Nada hay para nuestros ojos excepto este maná.”

7 A nd the manna is as coriander seed, and its aspect as the aspect of bdolach;

Y el maná era como una semilla de cilantro, y su aspecto como el del bedelio.

8 t he people have turned aside and gathered, and ground with millstones, or beat in a mortar, and boiled in a pan, and made it cakes, and its taste hath been as the taste of the moisture of oil.

El pueblo iba, lo recogía y lo molía entre dos piedras de molino, o lo machacaba en el mortero, y lo hervía en el caldero y hacía tortas con él; y tenía el sabor de tortas cocidas con aceite.

9 A nd in the descending of the dew on the camp by night, the manna descendeth upon it.

Cuando el rocío caía en el campamento por la noche, con él caía el maná.

10 A nd Moses heareth the people weeping by its families, each at the opening of his tent, and the anger of Jehovah burneth exceedingly, and in the eyes of Moses evil.

Y Moisés oyó llorar al pueblo, por sus familias, cada uno a la puerta de su tienda; y la ira del Señor se encendió en gran manera, y a Moisés no le agradó.

11 A nd Moses saith unto Jehovah, `Why hast Thou done evil to Thy servant? and why have I not found grace in Thine eyes -- to put the burden of all this people upon me?

Entonces Moisés dijo al Señor: “¿Por qué has tratado tan mal a Tu siervo? ¿Y por qué no he hallado gracia ante Tus ojos para que hayas puesto la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí ?

12 I -- have I conceived all this people? I -- have I begotten it, that Thou sayest unto me, Carry it in thy bosom as the nursing father beareth the suckling, unto the ground which Thou hast sworn to its fathers?

¿Acaso concebí yo a todo este pueblo? ¿Fui yo quien lo dio a luz para que me dijeras: ‘Llévalo en tu seno, como la nodriza lleva al niño de pecho, a la tierra que Yo juré a sus padres ’?

13 W hence have I flesh to give to all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give to us flesh, and we eat.

¿De dónde he de conseguir carne para dar a todo este pueblo ? Porque claman a mí, diciendo: ‘Danos carne para que comamos.’

14 I am not able -- I alone -- to bear all this people, for too heavy for me;

Yo solo no puedo llevar a todo este pueblo, porque es mucha carga para mí.

15 a nd if thus Thou art doing to me -- slay me, I pray Thee; slay, if I have found grace in thine eyes, and let me not look on mine affliction.'

Y si así me vas a tratar, Te ruego que me mates si he hallado gracia ante Tus ojos, y no me permitas ver mi desventura.”

16 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou hast known that they are elders of the people, and its authorities; and thou hast taken them unto the tent of meeting, and they have stationed themselves there with thee,

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Reúneme a setenta hombres de los ancianos de Israel, a quienes tú conozcas como los ancianos del pueblo y a sus oficiales, y tráelos a la tienda de reunión y que permanezcan allí contigo.

17 a nd I have come down and spoken with thee there, and have kept back of the Spirit which upon thee, and have put on them, and they have borne with thee some of the burden of the people, and thou dost not bear thyself alone.

Entonces descenderé y hablaré contigo allí, y tomaré del Espíritu que está sobre ti y lo pondré sobre ellos, y llevarán contigo la carga del pueblo para que no la lleves tú solo.

18 ` And unto the people thou dost say, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow, and ye have eaten flesh (for ye have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who doth give us flesh? for we good in Egypt) -- and Jehovah hath given to you flesh, and ye have eaten.

Y dile al pueblo: ‘Conságrense para mañana, y comerán carne, pues han llorado a oídos del Señor, diciendo: “¡Quién nos diera de comer carne! Porque nos iba mejor en Egipto.” El Señor, pues, les dará carne y comerán.

19 Y e do not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days; --

No comerán un día, ni dos días, ni cinco días, ni diez días, ni veinte días,

20 u nto a month of days, till that it come out from your nostrils, and it hath become to you an abomination; because that ye have loathed Jehovah, who in your midst, and weep before Him, saying, Why is this? -- we have come out of Egypt!'

sino todo un mes, hasta que les salga por las narices y les sea aborrecible, porque han rechazado al Señor, que está entre ustedes, y han llorado delante de El, diciendo: “¿Por qué salimos de Egipto?”’”

21 A nd Moses saith, `Six hundred thousand footmen the people in whose midst I; and Thou, Thou hast said, Flesh I give to them, and they have eaten, a month of days!

Pero Moisés dijo: “El pueblo, en medio del cual estoy, llega a 600, 000 de a pie; y Tú has dicho: ‘Les daré carne a fin de que coman, por todo un mes.’

22 I s flock and herd slaughtered for them, that one hath found for them? -- are all the fishes of the sea gathered for them -- that one hath found for them?'

¿Sería suficiente degollar para ellos las ovejas y los bueyes? ¿O sería suficiente juntar para ellos todos los peces del mar?”

23 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Is the hand of Jehovah become short? now thou dost see whether My word meeteth thee or not.'

Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: “¿Está limitado el poder del Señor ? Ahora verás si Mi palabra se te cumple o no.”

24 A nd Moses goeth out, and speaketh unto the people the words of Jehovah, and gathereth seventy men of the elders of the people, and causeth them to stand round about the tent,

Salió Moisés y dijo al pueblo las palabras del Señor. Reunió después a setenta hombres de los ancianos del pueblo y los colocó alrededor de la tienda.

25 a nd Jehovah cometh down in the cloud, and speaketh unto him, and keepeth back of the Spirit which on him, and putteth on the seventy men of the elders; and it cometh to pass at the resting of the Spirit on them, that they prophesy, and do not cease.

Entonces el Señor descendió en la nube y le habló; y tomó del Espíritu que estaba sobre él y lo colocó sobre los setenta ancianos. Y sucedió que cuando el Espíritu reposó sobre ellos, profetizaron; pero no volvieron a hacer lo más.

26 A nd two of the men are left in the camp, the name of the one Eldad, and the name of the second Medad, and the spirit resteth upon them, (and they are among those written, and have not gone out to the tent), and they prophesy in the camp;

Pero dos hombres habían quedado en el campamento; uno se llamaba Eldad, y el otro se llamaba Medad. Y el Espíritu reposó sobre ellos, (ellos estaban entre los que se habían inscrito, pero no habían salido a la tienda), y profetizaron en el campamento.

27 a nd the young man runneth, and declareth to Moses, and saith, `Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.'

Y un joven corrió y avisó a Moisés: “Eldad y Medad están profetizando en el campamento.”

28 A nd Joshua son of Nun, minister of Moses, of his young men, answereth and saith, `My lord Moses, restrain them.'

Entonces respondió Josué, hijo de Nun, ayudante de Moisés desde su juventud: “Moisés, señor mío, detenlos.”

29 A nd Moses saith to him, `Art thou zealous for me? O that all Jehovah's people were prophets! that Jehovah would put His Spirit upon them!'

Pero Moisés le dijo: “¿Tienes celos por causa mía? ¡Ojalá todo el pueblo del Señor fuera profeta, que el Señor pusiera Su Espíritu sobre ellos!”

30 A nd Moses is gathered unto the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

Después Moisés volvió al campamento, y con él los ancianos de Israel.

31 A nd a spirit hath journeyed from Jehovah, and cutteth off quails from the sea, and leaveth by the camp, as a day's journey here, and as a day's journey there, round about the camp, and about two cubits, on the face of the land.

Y salió de parte del Señor un viento que trajo codornices desde el mar y las dejó caer junto al campamento, como un día de camino de este lado, y un día de camino del otro lado, por todo alrededor del campamento, y como dos codos (90 cm) de espesor sobre la superficie de la tierra.

32 A nd the people rise all that day, and all the night, and all the day after, and gather the quails -- he who hath least hath gathered ten homers -- and they spread them out for themselves round about the camp.

Y el pueblo estuvo levantado todo el día, toda la noche, y todo el día siguiente, y recogieron las codornices, y las tendieron para sí por todos los alrededores del campamento; el que recogió menos, recogió diez montones (homeres: 2 toneladas).

33 T he flesh is yet between their teeth -- it is not yet cut off -- and the anger of Jehovah hath burned among the people, and Jehovah smiteth among the people -- a very great smiting;

Pero mientras la carne estaba aún entre sus dientes, antes que la masticaran, la ira del Señor se encendió contra el pueblo, y el Señor hirió al pueblo con una plaga muy mala.

34 a nd calleth the name of that place Kibroth-Hattaavah, for there they have buried the people who lust.

Por eso llamaron a aquel lugar Kibrot Hataava (Tumbas de la Codicia), porque allí sepultaron a los que habían sido codiciosos.

35 F rom Kibroth-Hattaavah have the people journeyed to Hazeroth, and they are in Hazeroth.

Y de Kibrot Hataava el pueblo salió para Hazerot, y permaneció en Hazerot.
