1 A nd in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, dreamed hath Nebuchadnezzar dreams, and his spirit doth move itself, and his sleep hath been against him;

En el segundo año del reinado de Nabucodonosor, éste tuvo sueños, y se turbó su espíritu y no podía dormir.

2 a nd the king saith to call for scribes, and for enchanters, and for sorcerers, and for Chaldeans, to declare to the king his dreams. And they come in and stand before the king;

Entonces el rey mandó a llamar a los magos (sacerdotes adivinos), encantadores, hechiceros y Caldeos (astrólogos), para que le explicaran al rey sus sueños. Vinieron, pues, y se presentaron ante el rey.

3 a nd the king saith to them, `A dream I have dreamed, and moved is my spirit to know the dream.'

Y el rey les dijo: “He tenido un sueño, y mi espíritu se ha turbado por el deseo de entender el sueño.”

4 A nd the Chaldeans speak to the king Aramaean, `O king, to the ages live, tell the dream to thy servants, and the interpretation we do shew.'

Entonces los Caldeos hablaron al rey en Arameo: “¡Oh rey, viva para siempre! Cuente el sueño a sus siervos, y nosotros le declararemos la interpretación.”

5 T he king hath answered and said to the Chaldeans, `The thing from me is gone; if ye do not cause me to know the dream and its interpretation, pieces ye are made, and your houses are made dunghills;

El rey respondió a los Caldeos: “Mis órdenes son firmes: si no me dan a conocer el sueño y su interpretación, serán descuartizados y sus casas serán reducidas a escombros.

6 a nd if the dream and its interpretation ye do shew, gifts, and fee, and great glory ye receive from before me, therefore the dream and its interpretation shew ye me.'

Pero si me declaran el sueño y su interpretación, recibirán de mí regalos, recompensas y grandes honores. Por tanto, declárenme el sueño y su interpretación.”

7 T hey have answered a second time, and are saying, `Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and the interpretation we do shew.

Respondieron ellos por segunda vez: “Refiera el rey su sueño a sus siervos, y declararemos la interpretación.”

8 T he king hath answered and said, `Of a truth I know that time ye are gaining, because that ye have seen that the thing is gone from me,

Respondió el rey: “Ciertamente sé que quieren ganar tiempo, porque ven que mis órdenes son firmes.

9 t hat, if the dream ye do not cause me to know -- one is your sentence, seeing a word lying and corrupt ye have prepared to speak before me, till that the time is changed, therefore the dream tell ye to me, then do I know that its interpretation ye do shew me.'

Si no me declaran el sueño, hay una sola sentencia para ustedes. Porque se han concertado para hablar delante de mí palabras falsas y perversas hasta que cambie la situación. Por tanto, díganme el sueño para que yo sepa que me pueden dar su interpretación.”

10 T he Chaldeans have answered before the king, and are saying, `There is not a man on the earth who is able to shew the king's matter; therefore, no king, chief, and ruler, hath asked such a thing as this of any scribe, and enchanter, and Chaldean;

Los Caldeos respondieron al rey: “No hay hombre sobre la tierra que pueda declarar el asunto al rey, puesto que ningún gran rey o gobernante jamás ha pedido cosa semejante a ningún mago (sacerdote adivino), encantador o Caldeo.

11 a nd the thing that the king is asking precious, and others are there not that do shew it before the king, save the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.'

Lo que el rey demanda es difícil y no hay nadie que lo pueda declarar al rey sino los dioses cuya morada no está entre los hombres.”

12 T herefore the king hath been angry and very wroth, and hath said to destroy all the wise men of Babylon;

A causa de esto el rey se indignó y se enfureció en gran manera y dio la orden de que mataran a todos los sabios de Babilonia.

13 A nd the sentence hath gone forth, and the wise men are being slain, and they have sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.

Y se publicó el decreto de que mataran a todos los sabios. Buscaron también a Daniel y a sus amigos para matar los.

14 T hen Daniel hath replied counsel and discretion to Arioch chief of the executioners of the king, who hath gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon.

Entonces Daniel habló con discreción y sensatez a Arioc, capitán de la guardia del rey, que había salido para matar a los sabios de Babilonia.

15 H e hath answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, `Wherefore the sentence so urgent from before the king?' Then Arioch hath made the thing known to Daniel,

Y preguntó a Arioc, capitán del rey: “¿Por qué es tan riguroso el decreto del rey?” Y Arioc informó a Daniel sobre el asunto.

16 a nd Daniel hath gone up, and sought of the king that he would give him time to shew the interpretation to the king.

Así que Daniel fue a pedirle al rey que le diera tiempo para declarar la interpretación al rey.

17 T hen Daniel to his house hath gone, and to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, he hath made the thing known,

Entonces Daniel fue a su casa e informó el asunto a sus amigos Ananías, Misael y Azarías,

18 a nd to seek mercies from before the God of the heavens concerning this secret, that they destroy not Daniel and his companions with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

para que pidieran misericordia del Dios del cielo acerca de este misterio, a fin de que no perecieran Daniel y sus amigos con el resto de los sabios de Babilonia.

19 T hen to Daniel, in a vision of the night, the secret hath been revealed. Then hath Daniel blessed the God of the heavens.

Entonces el misterio fue revelado a Daniel en una visión de noche. Daniel entonces bendijo al Dios del cielo,

20 D aniel hath answered and said, `Let the name of God be blessed from age even unto age, for wisdom and might -- for they are His.

y dijo: “Sea el nombre de Dios bendito por los siglos de los siglos, Porque la sabiduría y el poder son de El.

21 A nd He is changing times and seasons, He is causing kings to pass away, and He is raising up kings; He is giving wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those possessing understanding.

El es quien cambia los tiempos y las edades; Quita reyes y pone reyes. Da sabiduría a los sabios, Y conocimiento a los entendidos.

22 H e is revealing deep and hidden things; He hath known what in darkness, and light with Him hath dwelt.

El es quien revela lo profundo y lo escondido. Conoce lo que está en tinieblas, Y la luz mora con El.

23 T hee, O God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising, for wisdom and might Thou hast given to me; and now, Thou hast caused me to know that which we have sought from Thee, for the king's matter Thou hast caused us to know.'

A ti, Dios de mis padres, yo doy gracias y alabo, Porque me has dado sabiduría y poder, Y ahora me has revelado lo que Te habíamos pedido, Pues nos has dado a conocer el asunto del rey.”

24 T herefore Daniel hath gone up unto Arioch, whom the king hath appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he hath gone, and thus hath said to him, `The wise men of Babylon thou dost not destroy, bring me up before the king, and the interpretation to the king I do shew.'

Después fue Daniel adonde estaba Arioc, a quien el rey había designado para dar muerte a los sabios de Babilonia. Fue y le habló así: “No des muerte a los sabios de Babilonia. Llévame ante el rey, y declararé al rey la interpretación.”

25 T hen Arioch in haste hath brought up Daniel before the king, and thus hath said to him -- `I have found a man of the sons of the Removed of Judah, who the interpretation to the king doth make known.'

Entonces Arioc se apresuró a llevar a Daniel ante el rey, y le dijo así: “He hallado a un hombre entre los deportados de Judá que dará a conocer al rey la interpretación.”

26 T he king hath answered and said to Daniel, whose name Belteshazzar, `Art thou able to cause me to know the dream that I have seen, and its interpretation?'

El rey le preguntó a Daniel, a quien llamaban Beltsasar: “¿Eres tú capaz de darme a conocer el sueño que he visto y su interpretación ?”

27 D aniel hath answered before the king and said, `The secret that the king is asking, the wise men, the enchanters, the scribes, the soothsayers, are not able to shew to the king;

Daniel respondió ante el rey, y dijo: “En cuanto al misterio que el rey quiere saber, no hay sabios, encantadores, magos (sacerdotes adivinos) ni adivinos que puedan declarar lo al rey.

28 b ut there is a God in the heavens, a revealer of secrets, and He hath made known to king Nebuchadnezzar that which to be in the latter end of the days. `Thy dream and the visions of thy head on thy bed are these:

Pero hay un Dios en el cielo que revela los misterios, y El ha dado a conocer al rey Nabucodonosor lo que sucederá al fin de los días. Su sueño y las visiones que usted ha tenido en su cama eran éstos:

29 T hou, O king, thy thoughts on thy bed have come up that which to be after this, and the Revealer of secrets hath caused thee to know that which to be.

A usted, oh rey, en su cama le surgieron pensamientos sobre lo que habrá de suceder en el futuro, y el que revela los misterios le ha dado a conocer lo que sucederá.

30 A s to me -- not for wisdom that is in me above any living hath this secret been revealed to me; but for the intent that the interpretation to the king they make known, and the thoughts of thy heart thou dost know.

En cuanto a mí, me ha sido revelado este misterio, no porque yo tenga más sabiduría que cualquier otro viviente, sino con el fin de dar a conocer al rey la interpretación, y para que usted entienda los pensamientos de su corazón.

31 ` Thou, O king, wast looking, and lo, a certain great image. This image mighty, and its brightness excellent; it is standing over-against thee, and its appearance terrible.

“Usted, oh rey, tuvo una visión en la que había una gran estatua. Esa estatua era enorme y su brillo extraordinario; estaba en pie delante de usted y su aspecto era terrible.

32 T his image! its head of good gold, its breasts and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass;

La cabeza de esta estatua era de oro puro, su pecho y sus brazos de plata, y su vientre y sus muslos de bronce,

33 i ts legs of iron, its feet, part of them of iron, and part of them of clay.

sus piernas de hierro, sus pies en parte de hierro y en parte de barro.

34 T hou wast looking till that a stone hath been cut out without hands, and it hath smitten the image on its feet, that of iron and of clay, and it hath broken them small;

La estuvo mirando hasta que una piedra fue cortada sin ayuda de manos, y golpeó la estatua en sus pies de hierro y de barro, y los desmenuzó.

35 t hen broken small together have been the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, and they have been as chaff from the summer threshing-floor, and carried them away hath the wind, and no place hath been found for them: and the stone that smote the image hath become a great mountain, and hath filled all the land.

Entonces fueron desmenuzados, todos a la vez, el hierro, el barro, el bronce, la plata y el oro. Quedaron como el tamo de las eras en verano, y el viento se los llevó sin que quedara rastro alguno de ellos. Y la piedra que había golpeado la estatua se convirtió en un gran monte que llenó toda la tierra.

36 T his the dream, and its interpretation we do tell before the king.

“Este es el sueño. Ahora diremos ante el rey su interpretación.

37 ` Thou, O king, art a king of kings, for the God of the heavens a kingdom, strength, and might, and glory, hath given to thee;

Usted, oh rey, es rey de reyes, a quien el Dios del cielo ha dado el reino (la soberanía), el poder, la fuerza y la gloria.

38 a nd whithersoever sons of men are dwelling, the beast of the field, and the fowl of the heavens, He hath given into thy hand, and hath caused thee to rule over them all; thou this head of gold.

Y dondequiera que habiten los hijos de los hombres, las bestias del campo o las aves del cielo, El los ha entregado en su mano y lo ha hecho soberano de todos ellos; usted es la cabeza de oro.

39 A nd after thee doth rise up another kingdom lower than those, and another third kingdom of brass, that doth rule overall the earth.

Después de usted se levantará otro reino, inferior a usted, y luego un tercer reino, de bronce, que gobernará sobre toda la tierra.

40 A nd the fourth kingdom is strong as iron, because that iron is breaking small, and making feeble, all, even as iron that is breaking all these, it beateth small and breaketh.

Y habrá un cuarto reino, tan fuerte como el hierro. Y así como el hierro desmenuza y destroza todas las cosas, como el hierro que tritura, así él desmenuzará y triturará a todos éstos.

41 A s to that which thou hast seen: the feet and toes, part of them potter's clay, and part of them iron, the kingdom is divided: and some of the standing of the iron to be in it, because that thou hast seen the iron mixed with miry clay.

Lo que usted vio, los pies y los dedos, parte de barro de alfarero y parte de hierro, será un reino dividido. Pero tendrá la solidez del hierro, ya que vio el hierro mezclado con barro corriente.

42 A s to the toes of the feet, part of them iron, and part of them clay: some part of the kingdom is strong, and some part of it is brittle.

Y así como los dedos de los pies eran parte de hierro y parte de barro cocido, también parte del reino será fuerte y parte será frágil.

43 B ecause thou hast seen iron mixed with miry clay, they are mixing themselves with the seed of men: and they are not adhering one with another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

En cuanto al hierro mezclado con barro corriente que ha visto, se mezclarán mediante simiente humana. Pero no se unirán el uno con el otro, como no se mezcla el hierro con el barro.

44 ` And in the days of these kings raise up doth the God of the heavens a kingdom that is not destroyed -- to the age, and its kingdom to another people is not left: it beateth small and endeth all these kingdoms, and it standeth to the age.

En los días de estos reyes, el Dios del cielo levantará un reino que jamás será destruido, y este reino no será entregado a otro pueblo. Desmenuzará y pondrá fin a todos aquellos reinos, y él permanecerá para siempre,

45 B ecause that thou hast seen that out of the mountain cut hath been a stone without hands, and it hath beaten small the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king that which to be after this; and the dream true, and its interpretation stedfast.

tal como usted vio que una piedra fue cortada del monte sin ayuda de manos y que desmenuzó el hierro, el bronce, el barro, la plata y el oro. El gran Dios ha hecho saber al rey lo que sucederá en el futuro. Así, pues, el sueño es verdadero y la interpretación fiel.”

46 T hen hath king Nebuchadnezzar fallen on his face, and to Daniel he hath done obeisance, and present, and sweet things, he hath said to pour out to him.

Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor cayó sobre su rostro, se postró ante Daniel, y ordenó que le ofrecieran presentes e incienso.

47 T he king hath answered Daniel and said, `Of a truth that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since thou hast been able to reveal this secret.'

El rey habló a Daniel, y le dijo: “En verdad que su Dios es Dios de dioses, Señor de reyes y revelador de misterios, ya que tú has podido revelar este misterio.”

48 T hen the king hath made Daniel great, and many great gifts he hath given to him, and hath caused him to rule over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the perfects over all the wise men of Babylon.

Entonces el rey engrandeció a Daniel y le dio muchos regalos espléndidos, y le hizo gobernador sobre toda la provincia de Babilonia y jefe supremo sobre todos los sabios de Babilonia.

49 A nd Daniel hath sought from the king, and he hath appointed over the work of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and Daniel in the gate of the king.

Por solicitud de Daniel, el rey puso sobre la administración de la provincia de Babilonia a Sadrac, Mesac y a Abed Nego, mientras que Daniel quedó en la corte del rey.
