1 A nd in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, dreamed hath Nebuchadnezzar dreams, and his spirit doth move itself, and his sleep hath been against him;

En el segundo año del reinado de Nabucodonosor, tuvo Nabucodonosor unos sueños, y se turbó su espíritu, y no podía dormir.

2 a nd the king saith to call for scribes, and for enchanters, and for sorcerers, and for Chaldeans, to declare to the king his dreams. And they come in and stand before the king;

Hizo llamar el rey a magos, astrólogos, encantadores y adivinos caldeos, para que le explicasen sus sueños. Vinieron, pues, y se presentaron delante del rey.

3 a nd the king saith to them, `A dream I have dreamed, and moved is my spirit to know the dream.'

Y el rey les dijo: He tenido un sueño, y mi espíritu se ha turbado por el deseo de comprender el sueño.

4 A nd the Chaldeans speak to the king Aramaean, `O king, to the ages live, tell the dream to thy servants, and the interpretation we do shew.'

Entonces hablaron los caldeos al rey en lengua aramea: Rey, para siempre vive: di el sueño a tus siervos, y te mostraremos la interpretación.

5 T he king hath answered and said to the Chaldeans, `The thing from me is gone; if ye do not cause me to know the dream and its interpretation, pieces ye are made, and your houses are made dunghills;

Respondió el rey y dijo a los caldeos: El asunto lo olvidé; si no me mostráis el sueño y su interpretación, seréis hechos pedazos, y vuestras casas serán convertidas en muladares.

6 a nd if the dream and its interpretation ye do shew, gifts, and fee, and great glory ye receive from before me, therefore the dream and its interpretation shew ye me.'

Pero si me mostráis el sueño y su interpretación, recibiréis de mí dones y favores y gran honra. Decidme, pues, el sueño y su interpretación.

7 T hey have answered a second time, and are saying, `Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and the interpretation we do shew.

Respondieron por segunda vez, y dijeron: Diga el rey el sueño a sus siervos, y le mostraremos la interpretación.

8 T he king hath answered and said, `Of a truth I know that time ye are gaining, because that ye have seen that the thing is gone from me,

El rey respondió y dijo: Me doy perfecta cuenta de que ponéis dilaciones, porque veis que el asunto se me ha ido.

9 t hat, if the dream ye do not cause me to know -- one is your sentence, seeing a word lying and corrupt ye have prepared to speak before me, till that the time is changed, therefore the dream tell ye to me, then do I know that its interpretation ye do shew me.'

Si no me mostráis el sueño, una misma será vuestra sentencia. Ciertamente preparáis respuesta mentirosa y falsa que decir delante de mí, entretanto que pasa el tiempo. Decidme, pues, el sueño, para que yo sepa que me podéis dar su interpretación.

10 T he Chaldeans have answered before the king, and are saying, `There is not a man on the earth who is able to shew the king's matter; therefore, no king, chief, and ruler, hath asked such a thing as this of any scribe, and enchanter, and Chaldean;

Los caldeos respondieron delante del rey, y dijeron: No hay hombre sobre la tierra que pueda declarar el asunto del rey; por esto, ningún rey, príncipe ni señor exigió cosa semejante a ningún mago ni astrólogo ni caldeo.

11 a nd the thing that the king is asking precious, and others are there not that do shew it before the king, save the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.'

Porque el asunto que el rey demanda es difícil, y no hay quien lo pueda declarar al rey, salvo los dioses que no viven entre los seres de carne.

12 T herefore the king hath been angry and very wroth, and hath said to destroy all the wise men of Babylon;

Ante esto, el rey, con ira y con gran enojo, mandó que matasen a todos los sabios de Babilonia.

13 A nd the sentence hath gone forth, and the wise men are being slain, and they have sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.

Y se publicó el edicto de que los sabios fueran llevados a la muerte; y buscaron a Daniel y a sus compañeros para matarlos. Intervención de Daniel

14 T hen Daniel hath replied counsel and discretion to Arioch chief of the executioners of the king, who hath gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon.

Entonces Daniel habló sabia y prudentemente a Arioc, capitán de la guardia del rey, que había salido para matar a los sabios de Babilonia.

15 H e hath answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, `Wherefore the sentence so urgent from before the king?' Then Arioch hath made the thing known to Daniel,

Tomó la palabra y dijo a Arioc capitán del rey: ¿Cuál es la causa de que este edicto se publique de parte del rey tan apresuradamente? Entonces Arioc explicó a Daniel lo que ocurría.

16 a nd Daniel hath gone up, and sought of the king that he would give him time to shew the interpretation to the king.

Y Daniel entró y pidió al rey que le diese un plazo para declarar la interpretación al rey.

17 T hen Daniel to his house hath gone, and to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, he hath made the thing known,

Luego se fue Daniel a su casa y comunicó la cosa a Ananías, Misael y Azarías, sus compañeros,

18 a nd to seek mercies from before the God of the heavens concerning this secret, that they destroy not Daniel and his companions with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

instándoles a implorar la misericordia del Dios del cielo sobre este misterio, a fin de que Daniel y sus compañeros no pereciesen con los otros sabios de Babilonia.

19 T hen to Daniel, in a vision of the night, the secret hath been revealed. Then hath Daniel blessed the God of the heavens.

Entonces le fue revelado a Daniel el misterio en visión de noche, por lo cual bendijo Daniel al Dios del cielo.

20 D aniel hath answered and said, `Let the name of God be blessed from age even unto age, for wisdom and might -- for they are His.

Tomó la palabra Daniel y dijo: Bendito sea el nombre de Dios de siglos en siglos, porque suyas son la sabiduría y la fuerza.

21 A nd He is changing times and seasons, He is causing kings to pass away, and He is raising up kings; He is giving wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those possessing understanding.

Él hace alternar los tiempos y las circunstancias; quita reyes, y pone reyes; da la sabiduría a los sabios, y la ciencia a los entendidos.

22 H e is revealing deep and hidden things; He hath known what in darkness, and light with Him hath dwelt.

Él revela lo profundo y lo oculto; conoce lo que está en tinieblas, y con él mora la luz.

23 T hee, O God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising, for wisdom and might Thou hast given to me; and now, Thou hast caused me to know that which we have sought from Thee, for the king's matter Thou hast caused us to know.'

A ti, oh Dios de mis padres, te doy gracias y te alabo, porque me has dado sabiduría y fuerza, y ahora me has revelado lo que te pedimos; pues nos has dado a conocer el asunto del rey.

24 T herefore Daniel hath gone up unto Arioch, whom the king hath appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he hath gone, and thus hath said to him, `The wise men of Babylon thou dost not destroy, bring me up before the king, and the interpretation to the king I do shew.'

Después de esto fue Daniel a Arioc, al cual el rey había encargado matar a los sabios de Babilonia, y le dijo así: No mates a los sabios de Babilonia; llévame a la presencia del rey, y yo le mostraré la interpretación.

25 T hen Arioch in haste hath brought up Daniel before the king, and thus hath said to him -- `I have found a man of the sons of the Removed of Judah, who the interpretation to the king doth make known.'

Entonces Arioc llevó prontamente a Daniel ante el rey, y le dijo así: He hallado un varón de los deportados de Judá, el cual dará al rey la interpretación.

26 T he king hath answered and said to Daniel, whose name Belteshazzar, `Art thou able to cause me to know the dream that I have seen, and its interpretation?'

Respondió el rey y dijo a Daniel, al cual llamaban Beltsasar: ¿Podrás tú hacerme conocer el sueño que vi, y su interpretación?

27 D aniel hath answered before the king and said, `The secret that the king is asking, the wise men, the enchanters, the scribes, the soothsayers, are not able to shew to the king;

Daniel respondió delante del rey, diciendo: El misterio que el rey demanda, ni sabios, ni astrólogos, ni magos, ni adivinos lo pueden revelar al rey.

28 b ut there is a God in the heavens, a revealer of secrets, and He hath made known to king Nebuchadnezzar that which to be in the latter end of the days. `Thy dream and the visions of thy head on thy bed are these:

Pero hay un Dios en los cielos, el cual revela los misterios, y él ha hecho saber al rey Nabucodonosor lo que ha de acontecer en los postreros días. He aquí tu sueño, y las visiones que has tenido en tu cama:

29 T hou, O king, thy thoughts on thy bed have come up that which to be after this, and the Revealer of secrets hath caused thee to know that which to be.

Estando tú, oh rey, en tu cama, te vinieron pensamientos respecto a lo que ha de acontecer en el futuro; y el que revela los misterios te mostró lo que ha de suceder.

30 A s to me -- not for wisdom that is in me above any living hath this secret been revealed to me; but for the intent that the interpretation to the king they make known, and the thoughts of thy heart thou dost know.

Y a mí me ha sido revelado este misterio, no porque en mí haya más sabiduría que en todos los vivientes, sino para que se dé a conocer al rey la interpretación, y para que entiendas los pensamientos de tu corazón.

31 ` Thou, O king, wast looking, and lo, a certain great image. This image mighty, and its brightness excellent; it is standing over-against thee, and its appearance terrible.

Tú, oh rey, veías en tus sueños una gran estatua. Esta estatua, que era muy grande, y de un brillo extraordinario, estaba en pie delante de ti, y su aspecto era terrible.

32 T his image! its head of good gold, its breasts and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass;

La cabeza de la estatua era de oro fino; su pecho y sus brazos, de plata; su vientre y sus caderas, de bronce;

33 i ts legs of iron, its feet, part of them of iron, and part of them of clay.

sus piernas, de hierro; sus pies, en parte de hierro y en parte de barro cocido.

34 T hou wast looking till that a stone hath been cut out without hands, and it hath smitten the image on its feet, that of iron and of clay, and it hath broken them small;

Estabas mirando, cuando de pronto se desprendió una piedra, sin intervención de ninguna mano, e hirió a la estatua en sus pies de hierro y de barro cocido, y los desmenuzó.

35 t hen broken small together have been the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, and they have been as chaff from the summer threshing-floor, and carried them away hath the wind, and no place hath been found for them: and the stone that smote the image hath become a great mountain, and hath filled all the land.

Entonces fueron desmenuzados también el hierro, el barro cocido, el bronce, la plata y el oro, y fueron como tamo de las eras en verano, y se los llevó el viento sin que de ellos quedara rastro alguno. Mas la piedra que había golpeado a la estatua fue hecha un gran monte que llenó toda la tierra.

36 T his the dream, and its interpretation we do tell before the king.

Éste es el sueño; daremos también al rey su interpretación.

37 ` Thou, O king, art a king of kings, for the God of the heavens a kingdom, strength, and might, and glory, hath given to thee;

Tú, oh rey, eres rey de reyes; porque el Dios del cielo te ha dado reino, poder, fuerza y majestad.

38 a nd whithersoever sons of men are dwelling, the beast of the field, and the fowl of the heavens, He hath given into thy hand, and hath caused thee to rule over them all; thou this head of gold.

Y dondequiera que habitan hijos de hombres, bestias del campo y aves del cielo, él los ha entregado en tus manos, y te ha dado el dominio sobre todo; tú eres aquella cabeza de oro.

39 A nd after thee doth rise up another kingdom lower than those, and another third kingdom of brass, that doth rule overall the earth.

Y después de ti se levantará otro reino inferior al tuyo; y luego un tercer reino de bronce, el cual dominará sobre toda la tierra.

40 A nd the fourth kingdom is strong as iron, because that iron is breaking small, and making feeble, all, even as iron that is breaking all these, it beateth small and breaketh.

Habrá un cuarto reino fuerte como hierro, semejante al hierro que rompe y desmenuza todas las cosas; como el hierro que todo lo hace pedazos, así él lo quebrantará todo.

41 A s to that which thou hast seen: the feet and toes, part of them potter's clay, and part of them iron, the kingdom is divided: and some of the standing of the iron to be in it, because that thou hast seen the iron mixed with miry clay.

Y lo que viste de los pies y los dedos, en parte de barro cocido de alfarero y en parte de hierro, será un reino dividido; mas habrá en él algo de la fuerza del hierro, así como viste hierro mezclado con barro cocido.

42 A s to the toes of the feet, part of them iron, and part of them clay: some part of the kingdom is strong, and some part of it is brittle.

Y por ser los dedos de los pies en parte de hierro y en parte de barro cocido, el reino será en parte fuerte, y en parte frágil.

43 B ecause thou hast seen iron mixed with miry clay, they are mixing themselves with the seed of men: and they are not adhering one with another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

Así como viste el hierro mezclado con barro, se mezclarán por medio de alianzas humanas; pero no se unirán el uno con el otro, como el hierro no se mezcla con el barro.

44 ` And in the days of these kings raise up doth the God of the heavens a kingdom that is not destroyed -- to the age, and its kingdom to another people is not left: it beateth small and endeth all these kingdoms, and it standeth to the age.

Y en los días de estos reyes el Dios del cielo levantará un reino que no será jamás destruido, ni será el reino dejado a otro pueblo; desmenuzará y consumirá a todos estos reinos, pero él permanecerá para siempre,

45 B ecause that thou hast seen that out of the mountain cut hath been a stone without hands, and it hath beaten small the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king that which to be after this; and the dream true, and its interpretation stedfast.

de la manera que viste que del monte fue cortada una piedra, sin intervención de manos humanas, la cual desmenuzó el hierro, el bronce, el barro, la plata y el oro. El gran Dios ha mostrado al rey lo que ha de acontecer en lo por venir; el sueño es verdadero, y fiel su interpretación. Profesión de fe del rey

46 T hen hath king Nebuchadnezzar fallen on his face, and to Daniel he hath done obeisance, and present, and sweet things, he hath said to pour out to him.

Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor cayó sobre su rostro y se postró ante Daniel, y mandó que le ofreciesen presentes e incienso.

47 T he king hath answered Daniel and said, `Of a truth that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since thou hast been able to reveal this secret.'

El rey tomó la palabra, y dijo a Daniel: Ciertamente vuestro Dios es el Dios de los dioses, y el Señor de los reyes, y el que revela los misterios, pues pudiste revelar este misterio.

48 T hen the king hath made Daniel great, and many great gifts he hath given to him, and hath caused him to rule over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the perfects over all the wise men of Babylon.

Entonces el rey engrandeció a Daniel, y le dio muchos honores y grandes dones, y le hizo gobernador de toda la provincia de Babilonia, y jefe supremo de todos los sabios de Babilonia.

49 A nd Daniel hath sought from the king, and he hath appointed over the work of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and Daniel in the gate of the king.

Y Daniel influyó ante el rey para que pusiera sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia a Sadrac, Mesac y Abed-negó, quedando Daniel en la corte del rey.
