1 F ollowers of me become ye, as I also of Christ.

2 A nd I praise you, brethren, that in all things ye remember me, and according as I did deliver to you, the deliverances ye keep,

Os alabo, hermanos, porque en todo os acordáis de mí, y retenéis las instrucciones tal como os las entregué.

3 a nd I wish you to know that of every man the head is the Christ, and the head of a woman is the husband, and the head of Christ is God.

Pero quiero que sepáis que Cristo es la cabeza de todo varón, y el varón es la cabeza de la mujer, y Dios la cabeza de Cristo.

4 E very man praying or prophesying, having the head covered, doth dishonour his head,

Todo varón que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta, afrenta a su cabeza.

5 a nd every woman praying or prophesying with the head uncovered, doth dishonour her own head, for it is one and the same thing with her being shaven,

Pero toda mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta, afrenta a su cabeza; porque se hace enteramente igual que la que se ha rapado.

6 f or if a woman is not covered -- then let her be shorn, and if a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven -- let her be covered;

Porque si la mujer no se cubre, que se corte también el cabello; y si le es vergonzoso a la mujer cortarse el cabello o raparse, que se cubra.

7 f or a man, indeed, ought not to cover the head, being the image and glory of God, and a woman is the glory of a man,

Porque el varón no debe cubrirse la cabeza, pues él es imagen y gloria de Dios; pues la mujer es gloria del varón.

8 f or a man is not of a woman, but a woman of a man,

Porque el varón no procede de la mujer, sino la mujer del varón,

9 f or a man also was not created because of the woman, but a woman because of the man;

y tampoco el varón fue creado por causa de la mujer, sino la mujer por causa del varón.

10 b ecause of this the woman ought to have authority upon the head, because of the messengers;

Por tanto, la mujer debe tener señal de autoridad sobre su cabeza, por causa de los ángeles.

11 b ut neither a man apart from a woman, nor a woman apart from a man, in the Lord,

Sin embargo, en el Señor, ni el varón es aparte de la mujer, ni la mujer aparte del varón;

12 f or as the woman of the man, so also the man through the woman, and the all things of God.

porque así como la mujer procede del varón, también el varón nace mediante la mujer; pero todo procede de Dios.

13 I n your own selves judge ye; is it seemly for a woman uncovered to pray to God?

Juzgad entre vosotros mismos: ¿Es propio que la mujer ore a Dios sin cubrirse la cabeza?

14 d oth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man indeed have long hair, a dishonour it is to him?

La naturaleza misma ¿no os enseña que al varón le es deshonroso dejarse crecer el cabello?

15 a nd a woman, if she have long hair, a glory it is to her, because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her;

Por el contrario, a la mujer dejarse crecer el cabello le es honroso; porque en lugar de velo le es dado el cabello.

16 a nd if any one doth think to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the assemblies of God.

Con todo eso, si alguno es amigo de discusiones, nosotros no tenemos tal costumbre, ni las iglesias de Dios. Abusos en la Cena del Señor

17 A nd this declaring, I give no praise, because not for the better, but for the worse ye come together;

Pero al daros las instrucciones que siguen, no os alabo; porque no os congregáis para lo mejor, sino para lo peor.

18 f or first, indeed, ye coming together in an assembly, I hear of divisions being among you, and partly I believe,

Pues en primer lugar, cuando os reunís como iglesia, oigo que hay entre vosotros divisiones; y en parte lo creo.

19 f or it behoveth sects also to be among you, that those approved may become manifest among you;

Porque es preciso que entre vosotros haya diferentes bandos, para que se hagan manifiestos entre vosotros los que son aprobados.

20 y e, then, coming together at the same place -- it is not to eat the Lord's supper;

Cuando, pues, os reunís vosotros, eso no es comer la cena del Señor.

21 f or each his own supper doth take before in the eating, and one is hungry, and another is drunk;

Porque al comer, cada uno se adelanta a tomar su propia cena; y el uno tiene hambre, y el otro se embriaga.

22 w hy, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or the assembly of God do ye despise, and shame those not having? what may I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I do not praise!

¿Pues acaso no tenéis casas en que comáis y bebáis? ¿O menospreciáis la iglesia de Dios, y avergonzáis a los que no tienen nada? ¿Qué os diré? ¿Os alabaré? En esto no os alabo. Institución de la Cena del Señor

23 F or I -- I received from the Lord that which also I did deliver to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was delivered up, took bread,

Porque yo recibí de parte del Señor lo que también os he enseñado: Que el Señor Jesús, la noche que fue entregado, tomó pan;

24 a nd having given thanks, he brake, and said, `Take ye, eat ye, this is my body, that for you is being broken; this do ye -- to the remembrance of me.'

y después de dar gracias, lo partió, y dijo: Tomad, comed; esto es mi cuerpo que por vosotros es partido; haced esto en memoria de mí.

25 I n like manner also the cup after the supping, saying, `This cup is the new covenant in my blood; this do ye, as often as ye may drink -- to the remembrance of me;'

Asimismo tomó también la copa, después de haber cenado, diciendo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre; haced esto todas las veces que la bebáis, en memoria de mí.

26 f or as often as ye may eat this bread, and this cup may drink, the death of the Lord ye do shew forth -- till he may come;

Porque todas las veces que comáis este pan, y bebáis esta copa, la muerte del Señor estáis proclamando hasta que él venga. Tomando la Cena indignamente

27 s o that whoever may eat this bread or may drink the cup of the Lord unworthily, guilty he shall be of the body and blood of the Lord:

De manera que cualquiera que coma este pan o beba esta copa del Señor indignamente, será culpable del cuerpo y de la sangre del Señor.

28 a nd let a man be proving himself, and so of the bread let him eat, and of the cup let him drink;

Por tanto, examínese cada uno a sí mismo, y coma entonces del pan, y beba de la copa.

29 f or he who is eating and drinking unworthily, judgment to himself he doth eat and drink -- not discerning the body of the Lord.

Porque el que come y bebe indignamente, sin discernir el cuerpo del Señor, come y bebe su propio juicio.

30 B ecause of this, among you many weak and sickly, and sleep do many;

Por lo cual hay muchos enfermos y debilitados entre vosotros, y bastantes duermen.

31 f or if ourselves we were discerning, we would not be being judged,

Si, pues, nos examinásemos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos juzgados;

32 a nd being judged by the Lord, we are chastened, that with the world we may not be condemned;

mas al ser juzgados, somos corregidos por el Señor, para que no seamos condenados con el mundo.

33 s o then, my brethren, coming together to eat, for one another wait ye;

Así que, hermanos míos, cuando os reunís a comer, esperaos unos a otros.

34 a nd if any one is hungry, at home let him eat, that to judgment ye may not come together; and the rest, whenever I may come, I shall arrange.

Si alguno tiene hambre, coma en su casa, para que no os reunáis para juicio. Las demás cosas las pondré en orden cuando vaya.
