1 A nd Jehoshaphat lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Jehoram his son reigneth in his stead.

Durmió Josafat con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo,

2 A nd he hath brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel,

quien tuvo por hermanos, hijos de Josafat, a Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azaryahu, Miguel, y Sefatías. Todos éstos fueron hijos de Josafat rey de Judá.

3 a nd their father giveth to them many gifts of silver and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah, and the kingdom he hath given to Jehoram, for He the first-born.

Y su padre les había dado muchos regalos de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fortificadas en Judá; pero había dado el reino a Joram, porque él era el primogénito.

4 A nd Jehoram riseth up over the kingdom of his father, and strengtheneth himself, and slayeth all his brethren with the sword, and also -- of the heads of Israel.

Fue elevado, pues, Joram al reino de su padre; y luego que se hizo fuerte, mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y también a algunos de los príncipes de Israel.

5 A son of thirty and two years Jehoram in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem,

Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

6 a nd he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab hath been to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,

Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab; porque tenía por mujer a la hija de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

7 a nd Jehovah hath not been willing to destroy the house of David, for the sake of the covenant that He made with David, and as He had said to give to him a lamp, and to his sons -- all the days.

Mas Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa del pacto que había hecho con David, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente.

8 I n his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and cause a king to reign over them;

En los días de éste se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.

9 a nd Jehoram passeth over with his heads, and all the chariots with him, and it cometh to pass, he hath risen by night and smiteth the Edomites who are coming round against him, and the princes of the chariots,

Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y todos sus carros; y se levantó de noche, y derrotó a los edomitas que le habían sitiado, y a todos los comandantes de sus carros.

10 a nd Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah unto this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time from under his hand, because he hath forsaken Jehovah, God of his fathers,

No obstante, Edom se libertó del dominio de Judá, hasta hoy. También en el mismo tiempo Libná se libertó de su dominio, por cuanto él había dejado a Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

11 a lso, he hath made high places in the mountains of Judah, and causeth the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom, and compelleth Judah.

Además de esto, hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los moradores de Jerusalén fornicasen tras ellos, y a ello impelió a Judá.

12 A nd there cometh in unto him a writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, Because that thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, and in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Y le llegó una carta del profeta Elías, que decía: Jehová el Dios de David tu padre ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asá, rey de Judá,

13 a nd thou dost walk in the way of the kings of Israel, and dost cause Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom like the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also thy brethren, the house of thy father, who are better than thyself, thou hast slain;

sino que has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicase Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén, como fornicó la casa de Acab; y además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, a la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú;

14 l o, Jehovah is smiting -- a great smiting -- among thy people, and among thy sons, and among thy wives, and among all thy goods --

he aquí Jehová herirá a tu pueblo con una gran plaga, y a tus hijos y a tus mujeres, y a todo cuanto tienes;

15 a nd thou, with many sicknesses, with disease of thy bowels, till thy bowels come out, by the sickness, day by day.'

y tú mismo padecerás muchas enfermedades, y una dolencia de entrañas tal, que se te saldrán fuera a causa de tu persistente enfermedad.

16 A nd Jehovah waketh up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who beside the Cushim,

Entonces Jehová despertó contra Joram la ira de los filisteos y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes;

17 a nd they come up into Judah, and rend it, and take captive all the substance that is found at the house of the king, and also his sons, and his wives, and there hath not been left to him a son except Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.

y subieron contra Judá, e invadieron la tierra, y tomaron todos los bienes que hallaron en la casa del rey, y a sus hijos y a sus mujeres; y no le quedó más hijo sino solamente Joacaz, el menor de sus hijos.

18 A nd after all this hath Jehovah plagued him in his bowels by a disease for which there is no healing,

Después de todo esto, Jehová lo hirió con una enfermedad incurable en los intestinos.

19 a nd it cometh to pass, from days to days, and at the time of the going out of the end of two years, his bowels have gone out with his sickness, and he dieth of sore diseases, and his people have not made for him a burning like the burning of his fathers.

Y aconteció que al pasar muchos días, al fin, al cabo de dos años, los intestinos se le salieron por la enfermedad, muriendo en medio de terribles dolores. Y no encendieron fuego en su honor, como lo habían hecho con sus padres.

20 A son of thirty and two was he in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he goeth without desire, and they bury him in the city of David, and not in the graves of the kings.

Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años; y murió sin que nadie lo llorara. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.
