1 A nd these they the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;

Esto, pues, es lo que los hijos de Israel tomaron por heredad en la tierra de Canaán, lo cual les repartieron el sacerdote Eleazar, Josué hijo de Nun, y los cabezas de los padres de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.

2 b y lot their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe;

El reparto de la heredad a las nueve tribus y a la media tribu se hizo a suertes, como Jehová había mandado a Moisés que se les diera.

3 f or Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst;

Porque a las dos tribus y a la media tribu les había dado Moisés heredad al otro lado del Jordán; sin dar a los levitas heredad entre ellos.

4 f or the sons of Joseph hath been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle, and for their possessions;

Porque los hijos de José fueron dos tribus, Manasés y Efraín; y no dieron parte a los levitas en su tierra, sino ciudades en que morasen, con los ejidos de ellas para sus ganados y rebaños.

5 a s Jehovah commanded Moses, so have the sons of Israel done, and they apportion the land.

De la manera que Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés, así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel en el repartimiento de la tierra. Caleb recibe Hebrón

6 A nd the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, `Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea:

Y los hijos de Judá vinieron a Josué en Gilgal; y Caleb, hijo de Jefuné cenezeo, le dijo: Tú sabes lo que Jehová dijo a Moisés, varón de Dios, en Cadés-barnea, tocante a mí y a ti.

7 a son of forty years I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;

Yo era de edad de cuarenta años cuando Moisés siervo de Jehová me envió de Cadés-barnea a reconocer la tierra; y yo le traje noticias como lo sentía en mi corazón.

8 a nd my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God;

Y mis hermanos, los que habían subido conmigo, hicieron desfallecer el corazón del pueblo; pero yo cumplí siguiendo a Jehová mi Dios.

9 a nd Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not -- the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons -- to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God.

Entonces Moisés juró diciendo: Ciertamente la tierra que holló tu pie será para ti, y para tus hijos en herencia perpetua, por cuanto cumpliste siguiendo a Jehová mi Dios.

10 ` And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I to-day a son of five and eighty years;

Ahora bien, Jehová me ha hecho vivir, como él dijo, estos cuarenta y cinco años, desde el tiempo que Jehová habló estas palabras a Moisés, cuando Israel andaba por el desierto; y ahora, he aquí, hoy soy de edad de ochenta y cinco años.

11 y et I to-day strong as in the day of Moses' sending me; as my power then, so my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.

Todavía estoy tan fuerte como el día que Moisés me envió; conservo todo mi vigor de entonces, para combatir, y para ir y venir.

12 ` And now, give to me this hill-country, of which Jehovah spake in that day, for thou didst hear in that day, for Anakim there, and cities, great, fenced; if so be Jehovah with me, then I have dispossessed them, as Jehovah hath spoken.'

Dame, pues, ahora este monte, del cual habló Jehová aquel día; porque tú oíste en aquel día que los anaceos están allí, y que hay ciudades grandes y fortificadas. Si Jehová está conmigo, los echaré, como me prometió Jehová.

13 A nd Joshua blesseth him, and giveth Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance,

Josué entonces le bendijo, y dio a Caleb hijo de Jefuné a Hebrón por heredad.

14 t herefore hath Hebron been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance unto this day, because that he was fully after Jehovah, God of Israel;

Por tanto, Hebrón vino a ser heredad de Caleb hijo de Jefuné cenezeo, hasta hoy, por cuanto había seguido cumplidamente a Jehová Dios de Israel.

15 a nd the name of Hebron formerly Kirjath-Arba (he the great man among the Anakim); and the land hath rest from war.

El nombre primitivo de Hebrón fue Quiryat-arbá; porque Arbá fue el mayor gigante entre los anaceos. Y la tierra descansó de la guerra.
