1 B ecause of this it behoveth more abundantly to take heed to the things heard, lest we may glide aside,

Por tanto, debemos prestar mucha mayor atención a las cosas que hemos oído, no sea que marchemos a la deriva.

2 f or if the word being spoken through messengers did become stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience did receive a just recompense,

Porque si la palabra dicha por medio de ángeles fue firme, y toda transgresión y desobediencia recibió justa retribución,

3 h ow shall we escape, having neglected so great salvation? which a beginning receiving -- to be spoken through the Lord -- by those having heard was confirmed to us,

¿cómo escaparemos nosotros, si descuidamos una salvación tan grande? La cual, habiendo comenzado a ser anunciada por medio del Señor, nos fue confirmada por los que oyeron,

4 G od also bearing joint-witness both with signs and wonders, and manifold powers, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to His will.

testificando Dios juntamente con ellos, tanto con señales como con prodigios y diversos milagros y dones distribuidos por el Espíritu Santo según su voluntad. El autor de la salvación

5 F or not to messengers did He subject the coming world, concerning which we speak,

Porque no sometió a los ángeles el mundo venidero, acerca del cual estamos hablando;

6 a nd one in a certain place did testify fully, saying, `What is man, that Thou art mindful of him, or a son of man, that Thou dost look after him?

pero alguien testificó en cierto lugar, diciendo: ¿Qué es el hombre, para que te acuerdes de él, O el hijo del hombre, para que te preocupes de él?

7 T hou didst make him some little less than messengers, with glory and honour Thou didst crown him, and didst set him over the works of Thy hands,

Le hiciste un poco menor que a los ángeles, Le coronaste de gloria y de honra, Y le constituiste sobre las obras de tus manos;

8 a ll things Thou didst put in subjection under his feet,' for in the subjecting to him the all things, nothing did He leave to him unsubjected, and now not yet do we see the all things subjected to him,

Todo lo sometiste bajo sus pies. Porque en cuanto le sometió todas las cosas, nada dejó que no esté sometido a él; pero ahora todavía no vemos que todas las cosas le estén sometidas.

9 a nd him who was made some little less than messengers we see -- Jesus -- because of the suffering of the death, with glory and honour having been crowned, that by the grace of God for every one he might taste of death.

Pero vemos a aquel que fue hecho un poco menor que los ángeles, a Jesús, coronado de gloria y de honra, a causa del padecimiento de la muerte, para que por la gracia de Dios experimentase la muerte en provecho de todos.

10 F or it was becoming to Him, because of whom the all things, and through whom the all things, many sons to glory bringing, the author of their salvation through sufferings to make perfect,

Porque era propio de aquel por cuya causa son todas las cosas, y mediante el cual todas las cosas subsisten, que en su designio de ir llevando muchos hijos a la gloria, perfeccionase por medio de padecimientos al autor de la salvación de ellos.

11 f or both he who is sanctifying and those sanctified all of one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

Porque el que santifica y los que son santificados, de uno son todos; por lo cual no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos,

12 s aying, `I will declare Thy name to my brethren, in the midst of an assembly I will sing praise to Thee;' and again, `I will be trusting on Him;'

diciendo: Anunciaré a mis hermanos tu nombre, En medio de la congregación te cantaré himnos.

13 a nd again, `Behold I and the children that God did give to me.'

Y otra vez: Yo estaré confiado en él. Y de nuevo: He aquí, yo y los hijos que Dios me dio.

14 S eeing, then, the children have partaken of flesh and blood, he himself also in like manner did take part of the same, that through death he might destroy him having the power of death -- that is, the devil --

Así que, por cuanto los hijos han tenido en común una carne y una sangre, él también participó igualmente de lo mismo, para, por medio de la muerte, destruir el poder al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, esto es, al diablo,

15 a nd might deliver those, whoever, with fear of death, throughout all their life, were subjects of bondage,

y librar a todos los que por el temor de la muerte estaban durante toda la vida sujetos a servidumbre.

16 f or, doubtless, of messengers it doth not lay hold, but of seed of Abraham it layeth hold,

Porque ciertamente no viene en auxilio de los ángeles, sino que viene en auxilio de la descendencia de Abraham.

17 w herefore it did behove him in all things to be made like to the brethren, that he might become a kind and stedfast chief-priest in the things with God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people,

Por lo cual debía ser en todo semejante a sus hermanos, para venir a ser misericordioso y fiel sumo sacerdote en lo que a Dios se refiere, para hacer propiciación por los pecados del pueblo.

18 f or in that he suffered, himself being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

Pues en cuanto él mismo fue probado mediante el sufrimiento, es poderoso para venir en auxilio de los que son tentados.
