1 A nd it cometh to pass, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heareth that Joshua hath captured Ai, and doth devote it (as he had done to Jericho and to her king so he hath done to Ai and to her king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon have made peace with Israel, and are in their midst, --

Cuando Adonisedec rey de Jerusalén oyó que Josué había tomado a Hay, y que la había asolado (como había hecho a Jericó y a su rey, así hizo a Hay y a su rey), y que los moradores de Gabaón habían hecho paz con los israelitas, y que estaban entre ellos,

2 t hat they are greatly afraid, because Gibeon a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it greater than Ai, and all its men -- heroes.

tuvo gran temor; porque Gabaón era una gran ciudad, como una de las ciudades reales, y mayor que Hay, y todos sus hombres eran fuertes.

3 A nd Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sendeth unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

Por lo cual Adonisedec rey de Jerusalén envió a Hoham rey de Hebrón, a Piream rey de Jarmut, a Jafía rey de Laquís y a Debir rey de Eglón, diciendo:

4 ` Come up unto me, and help me, and we smite Gibeon, for it hath made peace with Joshua, and with the sons of Israel.'

Subid a mí y ayudadme, y combatamos a Gabaón; porque ha hecho paz con Josué y con los hijos de Israel.

5 A nd five kings of the Amorite (the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon) are gathered together, and go up, they and all their camps, and encamp against Gibeon, and fight against it.

Y cinco reyes de los amorreos, el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquís y el rey de Eglón, se juntaron y subieron, ellos con todos sus ejércitos, y acamparon cerca de Gabaón, y pelearon contra ella.

6 A nd the men of Gibeon send unto Joshua, unto the camp at Gilgal, saying, `Let not thy hand cease from thy servants; come up unto us haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us.'

Entonces los moradores de Gabaón enviaron a decir a Josué al campamento en Gilgal: No niegues ayuda a tus siervos; sube prontamente a nosotros para defendernos y ayudarnos; porque todos los reyes de los amorreos que habitan en las montañas se han unido contra nosotros.

7 A nd Joshua goeth up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, even all the mighty men of valour.

Y subió Josué de Gilgal, él y todo el pueblo de guerra con él, y todos los hombres valientes.

8 A nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `Be not afraid of them, for into thy hand I have given them, there doth not stand a man of them in thy presence.'

Y Jehová dijo a Josué: No tengas temor de ellos; porque yo los he entregado en tu mano, y ninguno de ellos prevalecerá delante de ti.

9 A nd Joshua cometh in unto them suddenly (all the night he hath gone up from Gilgal),

Y Josué vino a ellos de repente, habiendo subido toda la noche desde Gilgal. El socorro de lo alto

10 a nd Jehovah doth crush them before Israel, and it smiteth them -- a great smiting -- at Gibeon, and pursueth them the way of the ascent of Beth-Horon, and smiteth them unto Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

Y Jehová los llenó de consternación delante de Israel, y los batió con gran mortandad en Gabaón; y los siguió por el camino que sube a Bet-horón, y los hirió hasta Azecá y Maquedá.

11 A nd it cometh to pass, in their fleeing from the face of Israel -- they in the descent of Beth-Horon -- and Jehovah hath cast upon them great stones out of the heavens, unto Azekah, and they die; more are they who have died by the hailstones than they whom the sons of Israel have slain by the sword.

Y mientras iban huyendo de los israelitas, a la bajada de Bet-horón, Jehová arrojó desde el cielo grandes piedras sobre ellos hasta Azecá, y murieron; y fueron más los que murieron por las piedras del granizo que los que los hijos de Israel mataron a espada.

12 T hen speaketh Joshua to Jehovah in the day of Jehovah's giving up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he saith, before the eyes of Israel, `Sun -- in Gibeon stand still; and moon -- in the valley of Ajalon;'

Entonces Josué habló a Jehová el día en que Jehová entregó al amorreo delante de los hijos de Israel, y dijo en presencia de los israelitas: Sol, detente en Gabaón; Y tú, luna, en el valle de Ajalón.

13 a nd the sun standeth still, and the moon hath stood -- till the nation taketh vengeance its enemies; is it not written on the Book of the Upright, `and the sun standeth in the midst of the heavens, and hath not hasted to go in -- as a perfect day?'

Y el sol se detuvo y la luna se paró, Hasta que el pueblo se hubo vengado de sus enemigos. ¿No está escrito esto en el libro de Jaser? Y el sol se paró en medio del cielo, y no se apresuró a ponerse casi un día entero.

14 A nd there hath not been like that day before it or after it, for Jehovah's hearkening to the voice of a man; for Jehovah is fighting for Israel.

Y no hubo día como aquel, ni antes ni después de él, habiendo atendido Jehová a la voz de un hombre; porque Jehová peleaba por Israel.

15 A nd Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, unto the camp at Gilgal.

Y Josué, y todo Israel con él, volvió al campamento en Gilgal. Los cinco reyes de la cueva de Maquedá

16 A nd these five kings flee, and are hidden in a cave at Makkedah,

Y los cinco reyes huyeron, y se escondieron en una cueva en Maquedá.

17 a nd it is declared to Joshua, saying, `The five kings have been found hidden in a cave at Makkedah.'

Y fue dado aviso a Josué que los cinco reyes habían sido hallados escondidos en una cueva en Maquedá.

18 A nd Joshua saith, `Roll great stones unto the mouth of the cave, and appoint over it men to watch them;

Entonces Josué dijo: Rodad grandes piedras a la entrada de la cueva, y poned hombres junto a ella para que los guarden;

19 a nd ye, stand not, pursue after your enemies, and ye have smitten the hindmost of them; suffer them not to go in unto their cities, for Jehovah your God hath given them into your hand.'

y vosotros no os detengáis, sino seguid a vuestros enemigos, y heridles la retaguardia, sin dejarles entrar en sus ciudades; porque Jehová vuestro Dios los ha entregado en vuestra mano.

20 A nd it cometh to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to smite them -- a very great smiting, till they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go in unto the fenced cities,

Y aconteció que cuando Josué y los hijos de Israel acabaron de herirlos con gran mortandad hasta destruirlos, los que quedaron de ellos se metieron en las ciudades fortificadas.

21 t hat all the people turn back to the camp, unto Joshua, Makkedah, in peace; none moved sharply his tongue against the sons of Israel.

Todo el pueblo volvió sano y salvo a Josué, al campamento en Maquedá; y nadie osó hablar contra los hijos de Israel.

22 A nd Joshua saith, `Open ye the mouth of the cave, and bring out unto me these five kings from the cave;'

Entonces dijo Josué: Abrid la entrada de la cueva, y sacad de ella a esos cinco reyes.

23 a nd they do so, and bring out unto him these five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.

Y lo hicieron así, y sacaron de la cueva a aquellos cinco reyes: al rey de Jerusalén, al rey de Hebrón, al rey de Jarmut, al rey de Laquís y al rey de Eglón.

24 A nd it cometh to pass, when they bring out these kings unto Joshua, that Joshua calleth unto every man of Israel, and saith unto the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, `Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings;' and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.

Y cuando los hubieron llevado a Josué, llamó Josué a todos los varones de Israel, y dijo a los principales de la gente de guerra que habían venido con él: Acercaos, y poned vuestros pies sobre los cuellos de estos reyes. Y ellos se acercaron y pusieron sus pies sobre los cuellos de ellos.

25 A nd Joshua saith unto them, `Fear not, nor be affrighted; be strong and courageous; for thus doth Jehovah do to all your enemies with whom ye are fighting;'

Y Josué les dijo: No temáis, ni os atemoricéis; sed fuertes y valientes, porque así hará Jehová a todos vuestros enemigos contra los cuales peleáis.

26 a nd Joshua smiteth them afterwards, and putteth them to death, and hangeth them on five trees; and they are hanging on the trees till the evening.

Acto seguido, Josué los hirió y los mató, y los hizo colgar en cinco árboles, de los que quedaron colgados hasta caer la noche.

27 A nd it cometh to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua hath commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them unto the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave till this very day.

Y cuando el sol se iba a poner, mandó Josué que los quitasen de los árboles, y los echasen en la cueva donde se habían escondido; y pusieron grandes piedras a la entrada de la cueva, y allí están todavía hoy.

28 A nd Makkedah hath Joshua captured on that day, and he smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and its king he hath devoted, them and every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant; and he doth to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.

En aquel mismo día tomó Josué a Maquedá, y la hirió a filo de espada, y mató a su rey; por completo los destruyó, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, sin dejar nada; e hizo al rey de Maquedá como había hecho al rey de Jericó.

29 A nd Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah Libnah, and fighteth with Libnah;

Y de Maquedá pasó Josué, y todo Israel con él, a Libná; y peleó contra Libná;

30 a nd Jehovah giveth also it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and it smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it -- it left not in it a remnant; and it doth to its king as it did to the king of Jericho.

y Jehová la entregó también a ella y a su rey en manos de Israel; y la hirió a filo de espada, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, sin dejar nada; e hizo a su rey de la manera como había hecho al rey de Jericó.

31 A nd Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encampeth against it, and fighteth against it;

Y Josué, y todo Israel con él, pasó de Libná a Laquís, y acampó cerca de ella, y la combatió;

32 A nd Jehovah giveth Lachish into the hand of Israel, and it captureth it on the second day, and smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it, according to all that it did to Libnah.

y Jehová entregó a Laquís en mano de Israel, y la tomó al día siguiente, y la hirió a filo de espada, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, así como había hecho en Libná.

33 T han hath Horam king of Gezer come up to help Lachish, and Joshua smiteth him and his people, till he hath not left to him a remnant.

Entonces Horam rey de Gézer subió en ayuda de Laquís; mas a él y a su pueblo destruyó Josué, hasta no dejar a ningún superviviente.

34 A nd Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Lachish to Eglon, and they encamp against it, and fight against it,

De Laquís pasó Josué, y todo Israel con él, a Eglón; y acamparon cerca de ella, y la combatieron;

35 a nd capture it on that day, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it on that day he hath devoted, according to all that he did to Lachish.

y la tomaron el mismo día, y la hirieron a filo de espada; y aquel día mató a todo lo que en ella tenía vida, como había hecho en Laquís.

36 A nd Joshua goeth up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron, and they fight against it,

Subió luego Josué, y todo Israel con él, de Eglón a Hebrón, y la combatieron.

37 a nd capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant -- according to all that he did to Eglon -- and doth devote it, and every person who in it.

Y tomándola, la hirieron a filo de espada, a su rey y a todas sus ciudades, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, sin dejar nada; como había hecho a Eglón, así la destruyeron con todo lo que en ella tenía vida.

38 A nd Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fighteth against it,

Después volvió Josué, y todo Israel con él, sobre Debir, y combatió contra ella;

39 a nd captureth it, and its king, and all its cities, and they smite them by the mouth of the sword, and devote every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant; as he did to Hebron so he did to Debir, and to its king, and as he did to Libnah, and to its king.

y la tomó, y a su rey, y a todas sus ciudades; y las hirieron a filo de espada, y destruyeron todo lo que allí dentro tenía vida, sin dejar uno solo; como había hecho a Hebrón, y como había hecho a Libná y a su rey, así hizo a Debir y a su rey.

40 A nd Joshua smiteth all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings -- he hath not left a remnant, and all that doth breathe he hath devoted, as Jehovah, God of Israel, commanded.

Hirió, pues, Josué toda la región de las montañas, del Négueb, de los llanos y de las laderas, y a todos sus reyes, sin dejar nada; todo lo que tenía vida lo mató, como Jehová Dios de Israel se lo había mandado.

41 A nd Joshua smiteth them from Kadesh-Barnea, even unto Gaza, and all the land of Goshen, even unto Gibeon;

Y los hirió Josué desde Cadés-barnea hasta Gaza, y toda la tierra de Gosén hasta Gabaón.

42 a nd all these kings and their land hath Joshua captured one time, for Jehovah, God of Israel, is fighting for Israel.

Todos estos reyes y sus tierras los tomó Josué de una vez; porque Jehová el Dios de Israel peleaba por Israel.

43 a nd Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, unto the camp at Gilgal.

Y volvió Josué, y todo Israel con él, al campamento de Gilgal.
