16 a nd Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was begotten Jesus, who is named Christ.

17 A ll the generations, therefore, from Abraham unto David fourteen generations, and from David unto the Babylonian removal fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian removal unto the Christ, fourteen generations.

18 A nd of Jesus Christ, the birth was thus: For his mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, before their coming together she was found to have conceived from the Holy Spirit,

El nacimiento de Jesucristo fue así: Estando su madre María desposada con José, antes de que viviesen juntos se halló que estaba encinta por obra del Espíritu Santo.

19 a nd Joseph her husband being righteous, and not willing to make her an example, did wish privately to send her away.

20 A nd on his thinking of these things, lo, a messenger of the Lord in a dream appeared to him, saying, `Joseph, son of David, thou mayest not fear to receive Mary thy wife, for that which in her was begotten of the Holy Spirit,

Y pensando él en esto, he aquí que un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños y le dijo: José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María por mujer, porque lo engendrado en ella es del Espíritu Santo.

21 a nd she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.'

Y dará a luz un hijo, y llamarás su nombre Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados.

22 A nd all this hath come to pass, that it may be fulfilled that was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

Todo esto aconteció para que se cumpliese lo dicho por el Señor por medio del profeta, cuando dijo:

23 ` Lo, the virgin shall conceive, and she shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,' which is, being interpreted `With us God.'

He aquí que la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, Y llamarán su nombre Emanuel, que traducido es: Dios con nosotros.

24 A nd Joseph, having risen from the sleep, did as the messenger of the Lord directed him, and received his wife,

Y despertando José del sueño, hizo como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y recibió en su hogar a María como su esposa.

25 a nd did not know her till she brought forth her son -- the first-born, and he called his name Jesus.

Pero no la conoció hasta que dio a luz a su hijo primogénito y le puso por nombre Jesús.
