1 C ome near, ye nations, to hear, And ye peoples, give attention, Hear doth the earth and its fulness, The world, and all its productions.

Acercaos, naciones, juntaos para oír; y vosotros, pueblos, escuchad. Oiga la tierra y cuanto hay en ella, el mundo y todo lo que produce.

2 F or wrath to Jehovah against all the nations, And fury against all their host, He hath devoted them to destruction, He hath given them to slaughter.

Porque Jehová está airado contra todas las naciones, e indignado contra todo el ejército de ellas; las destruirá y las entregará al matadero.

3 A nd their wounded are cast out, And their carcases cause their stench to ascend, And melted have been mountains from their blood.

Y los muertos de ellas serán arrojados, y de sus cadáveres se levantará hedor; y los montes se disolverán por la sangre de ellos.

4 A nd consumed have been all the host of the heavens, And rolled together as a book have been the heavens, And all their hosts do fade, As the fading of a leaf of a vine, And as the fading one of a fig-tree.

Y todo el ejército de los cielos se disolverá, y se enrollarán los cielos como un libro; y caerá todo su ejército, como se cae la hoja de la parra, y como se cae la de la higuera.

5 F or soaked in the heavens was My sword, Lo, on Edom it cometh down, On the people of My curse for judgment.

Porque en los cielos se embriagará mi espada; he aquí que descenderá sobre Edom y sobre el pueblo de mi anatema en juicio.

6 A sword to Jehovah -- it hath been full of blood, It hath been made fat with fatness, With blood of lambs and he-goats. With fat of kidneys of rams, For a sacrifice to Jehovah in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

Llena está de sangre la espada de Jehová, cubierta está de grasa, de sangre de corderos y de machos cabríos, de sebo de riñones de carneros; porque Jehová tiene un sacrificio en Bosrá, y gran matanza en la tierra de Edom.

7 A nd come down have reems with them, And bullocks with bulls, And soaked hath been their land from blood, And their dust from fatness is made fat.

Y con ellos caerán búfalos, y toros con becerros; y su tierra se embriagará de sangre, y su polvo se engrasará de sebo.

8 ( For a day of vengeance to Jehovah, A year of recompences for Zion's strife,)

Porque Jehová tiene día de venganza, un año de retribuciones en el pleito de Sión.

9 A nd turned have been her streams to pitch, And her dust to brimstone, And her land hath become burning pitch.

Y sus arroyos se convertirán en brea, y su polvo en azufre, y su tierra en brea ardiente.

10 B y night and by day she is not quenched, To the age go up doth her smoke, From generation to generation she is waste, For ever and ever, none is passing into her.

No se apagará de noche ni de día, perpetuamente subirá su humo; de generación en generación será asolada, y nunca jamás pasará nadie por ella.

11 A nd possess her do pelican and hedge-hog, And owl and raven dwell in her, And He hath stretched out over her A line of vacancy, and stones of emptiness.

Se adueñarán de ella el pelícano y el erizo, la lechuza y el cuervo morarán en ella; y se extenderá sobre ella cordel de destrucción, y plomada de asolamiento.

12 t he kingdom her freemen they call, But there are none there, And all her princes are at an end.

En cuanto a sus nobles, no habrá quien sea llamado al reino; y todos sus grandes serán nada.

13 A nd gone up her palaces have thorns, Nettle and bramble in her fortresses, And it hath been a habitation of dragons, A court for daughters of an ostrich.

En sus alcázares crecerán espinos, y ortigas y zarzas en sus fortalezas; y serán morada de chacales, y corral para los pollos de los avestruces.

14 A nd met have Ziim with Aiim, And the goat for its companion calleth, Only there rested hath the night-owl, And hath found for herself a place of rest.

Las fieras del desierto se encontrarán con las hienas, y la cabra salvaje gritará a su compañero; la lechuza también tendrá allí morada, y hallará para sí lugar de reposo.

15 T here made her nest hath the bittern, Yea, she layeth, and hath hatched, And hath gathered under her shadow, Only there gathered have been vultures, Each with its companion.

Allí anidará el búho, pondrá sus huevos, y sacará sus pollos, y los juntará debajo de sus alas; también se juntarán allí buitres, cada uno con su compañera.

16 S eek out of the book of Jehovah, and read, One of these hath not been lacking, None hath missed its companion, For My mouth -- it hath commanded, And His spirit -- He hath gathered them.

Inquirid en el libro de Jehová, y leed: No faltará ninguno de ellos; ninguno faltará con su compañera; porque mi boca lo mandó, y los ha reunido el aliento de ella.

17 A nd He hath cast for them a lot, And His hand hath apportioned to them by line, Unto the age they possess it, To all generations they dwell in it!

Y él les echó suertes, y su mano les repartió con cordel; para siempre la tendrán por heredad; de generación en generación morarán allí.
