1 T o the Overseer. -- By sons of Korah. A Psalm. Hear this, all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.

Oíd esto, pueblos todos; Escuchad, habitantes todos del mundo,

2 B oth low and high, together rich and needy.

Así los plebeyos como los nobles, El rico y el pobre juntamente.

3 M y mouth speaketh wise things, And the meditations of my heart things of understanding.

Mi boca hablará sabiduría, Y la meditación de mi corazón, inteligencia.

4 I incline to a simile mine ear, I open with a harp my riddle:

Inclinaré al proverbio mi oído; Declararé con el arpa mi enigma.

5 W hy do I fear in days of evil? The iniquity of my supplanters doth compass me.

¿Por qué he de temer en los días de adversidad, Cuando la iniquidad de mis opresores me rodee?

6 T hose trusting on their wealth, And in the multitude of their riches, Do shew themselves foolish.

Los que confían en sus bienes, Y de la muchedumbre de sus riquezas se jactan,

7 A brother doth no one at all ransom, He doth not give to God his atonement.

Ninguno de ellos podrá en manera alguna redimir al hermano, Ni dar a Dios su rescate,

8 A nd precious the redemption of their soul, And it hath ceased -- to the age.

Porque el rescate de su vida es demasiado caro, y nunca le bastará,

9 A nd still he liveth for ever, He seeth not the pit.

Para que viva en adelante para siempre, Y nunca vea corrupción.

10 F or he seeth wise men die, Together the foolish and brutish perish, And have left to others their wealth.

Pues verá que aun los sabios mueren; Que perecen del mismo modo que el insensato y el necio, Y dejan a extraños sus riquezas.

11 T heir heart: Their houses to the age, Their tabernacles to all generations. They proclaimed their names over the lands.

Su íntimo pensamiento es que sus casas serán eternas, Y sus habitaciones para generación y generación; Dan sus nombres a sus tierras.

12 A nd man in honour doth not remain, He hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off.

Mas el hombre no permanecerá en su opulencia, Sino que es semejante a las bestias que perecen.

13 T his their way folly for them, And their posterity with their sayings are pleased. Selah.

Este su camino es locura; Con todo, sus descendientes aprueban sus dichos. Selah

14 A s sheep for Sheol they have set themselves, Death doth afflict them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form for consumption. Sheol a dwelling for him.

Como a rebaños que son conducidos al Seol, La muerte los pastorea, Y los rectos dominarán sobre ellos. Por la mañana se consumirá su buen parecer, y el Seol será su morada.

15 O nly, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. Selah.

Pero Dios redimirá mi vida del poder del Seol, Porque él me tomará consigo. Selah

16 F ear not, when one maketh wealth, When the honour of his house is abundant,

No temas cuando se enriquece alguno, Cuando aumenta la gloria de su casa;

17 F or at his death he receiveth nothing, His honour goeth not down after him.

Porque cuando muera no se llevará nada, Ni descenderá tras él su gloria.

18 F or his soul in his life he blesseth, (And they praise thee when thou dost well for thyself.)

Aunque mientras viva, llame dichosa a su alma, Y sea loado cuando prospere,

19 I t cometh to the generation of his fathers, For ever they see not the light.

Irá a reunirse con sus antepasados, Que nunca más verán la luz.

20 M an in honour, who understandest not, Hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off!

El hombre que está en honra y no entiende, Semejante es a las bestias que perecen.
