1 A nd Samuel saith unto all Israel, `Lo, I have hearkened to your voice, to all that ye said to me, and I cause to reign over you a king,

Dijo Samuel a todo Israel: He aquí, yo he atendido a vuestra voz en todo cuanto me habéis dicho, y he puesto un rey sobre vosotros.

2 a nd now, lo, the king is walking habitually before you, and I have become aged and gray-headed, and my sons, lo, they with you, and I have walked habitually before you from my youth till this day.

Ahora, pues, he aquí vuestro rey va delante de vosotros. Yo soy ya viejo y lleno de canas; pero mis hijos están con vosotros, y yo he andado delante de vosotros desde mi juventud hasta este día.

3 ` Lo, here I; testify against me, over-against Jehovah, and over-against His anointed; whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I oppressed; whom have I bruised, and of whose hand have I taken a ransom, and hide mine eyes with it? -- and I restore to you.'

Aquí estoy; atestiguad contra mí delante de Jehová y delante de su ungido, si he tomado el buey de alguno, si he tomado el asno de alguno, si he calumniado a alguien, si he agraviado a alguno, o si de alguien he tomado cohecho para cegar mis ojos con él; y os lo restituiré.

4 A nd they say, `Thou hast not oppressed us, nor hast thou crushed us, nor hast thou taken from the hand of any one anything.'

Entonces dijeron: Nunca nos has calumniado ni agraviado, ni has tomado algo de mano de nadie.

5 A nd he saith unto them, `A witness Jehovah against you: and a witness His anointed this day, that ye have not found anything in my hand;' and they say, `A witness.'

Y él les dijo: Jehová es testigo contra vosotros, y su ungido también es testigo en este día, de que no habéis hallado nada en mis manos. Y ellos respondieron: Es testigo.

6 A nd Samuel saith unto the people, `Jehovah -- He who made Moses and Aaron, and who brought up your fathers out of the land of Egypt!

Entonces Samuel dijo al pueblo: Jehová que designó a Moisés y a Aarón, y sacó a vuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto, es testigo.

7 a nd, now, station yourselves, and I judge you before Jehovah, with all the righteous acts of Jehovah, which He did with you, and with your fathers.

Ahora, pues, presentaos para que yo os arguya delante de Jehová, acerca de todos los actos de justicia que Jehová ha hecho con vosotros y con vuestros padres.

8 ` When Jacob hath come in to Egypt, and your fathers cry unto Jehovah, then Jehovah sendeth Moses and Aaron, and they bring out your fathers from Egypt, and cause them to dwell in this place,

Cuando Jacob hubo entrado en Egipto, y vuestros padres clamaron a Jehová, Jehová envió a Moisés y a Aarón, los cuales sacaron a vuestros padres de Egipto, y los hicieron habitar en este lugar.

9 a nd they forget Jehovah their God, and He selleth them into the hand of Sisera, head of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fight against them,

Y olvidaron a Jehová su Dios, y él los entregó en manos de Sísara jefe del ejército de Hazor, y en manos de los filisteos, y en manos del rey de Moab, los cuales les hicieron guerra.

10 a nd they cry unto Jehovah, and say, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and now, deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we serve Thee.

Y ellos clamaron a Jehová, y dijeron: Hemos pecado, porque hemos dejado a Jehová y hemos servido a los baales y a Astarot; pero ahora líbranos de manos de nuestros enemigos, y te serviremos.

11 ` And Jehovah sendeth Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivereth you out of the hand of your enemies round about, and ye dwell confidently.

Entonces Jehová envió a Jerubaal, a Barac, a Jefté y a Samuel, y os libró de manos de vuestros enemigos en derredor, y habitasteis seguros.

12 ` And ye see that Nahash king of the Bene-Ammon hath come against you, and ye say to me, Nay, but a king doth reign over us; and Jehovah your God your king!

Y habiendo visto que Nahás rey de los hijos de Amón venía contra vosotros, me dijisteis: No, sino que ha de reinar sobre nosotros un rey: siendo así que Jehová vuestro Dios era vuestro rey.

13 A nd, now, lo, the king whom ye have chosen -- whom ye have asked! and lo, Jehovah hath placed over you a king.

Ahora, pues, he aquí el rey que habéis elegido, el cual pedisteis; ya veis que Jehová ha puesto rey sobre vosotros.

14 ` If ye fear Jehovah, and have served Him, and hearkened to His voice, then ye do not provoke the mouth of Jehovah, and ye have been -- both ye and the king who hath reigned over you -- after Jehovah your God.

Si teméis a Jehová y le servís, y oís su voz, y no sois rebeldes a la palabra de Jehová, y si tanto vosotros como el rey que reina sobre vosotros seguís a Jehová vuestro Dios, os irá bien.

15 ` And if ye do not hearken to the voice of Jehovah -- then ye have provoked the mouth of Jehovah, and the hand of Jehovah hath been against you, and against your fathers.

Mas si no oís la voz de Jehová, y si sois rebeldes a las palabras de Jehová, la mano de Jehová estará contra vosotros como estuvo contra vuestros padres.

16 ` Also now, station yourselves and see this great thing which Jehovah is doing before your eyes;

Una vez más quedaos para ver el gran prodigio que Jehová hará delante de vuestros ojos.

17 i s it not wheat-harvest to-day? I call unto Jehovah, and He doth give voices and rain; and know ye and see that your evil is great which ye have done in the eyes of Jehovah, to ask for you a king.'

¿No es ahora la siega del trigo? Pues bien, voy a invocar a Jehová para que haga tronar y llover, a fin de que conozcáis y veáis que es grande vuestra maldad que habéis hecho ante los ojos de Jehová, pidiendo para vosotros rey.

18 A nd Samuel calleth unto Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth voices and rain, on that day, and all the people greatly fear Jehovah and Samuel;

Y Samuel clamó a Jehová, y Jehová dio truenos y lluvias en aquel día; y todo el pueblo tuvo gran temor de Jehová y de Samuel.

19 a nd all the people say unto Samuel, `Pray for thy servants unto Jehovah thy God, and we do not die, for we have added to all our sins evil to ask for us a king.'

Entonces dijo todo el pueblo a Samuel: Ruega por tus siervos a Jehová tu Dios, para que no muramos; porque a todos nuestros pecados hemos añadido este mal de pedir rey para nosotros.

20 A nd Samuel saith unto the people, `Fear not; ye have done all this evil; only, turn not aside from after Jehovah -- and ye have served Jehovah with all your heart,

Y Samuel respondió al pueblo: No temáis; vosotros habéis hecho todo este mal; pero con todo eso no os apartéis de en pos de Jehová, sino servidle con todo vuestro corazón.

21 a nd ye do not turn aside after the vain things which do not profit nor deliver, for they vain,

No os apartéis en pos de los que no son nada, que no aprovechan ni libran, porque no son sino cosa vacía.

22 f or Jehovah doth not leave His people, on account of His great name; for Jehovah hath been pleased to make you to Him for a people.

Pues Jehová no desamparará a su pueblo, por su gran nombre; porque Jehová ha querido haceros pueblo suyo.

23 ` I, also, far be it from me to sin against Jehovah, by ceasing to pray for you, and I have directed you in the good and upright way;

Así que, lejos sea de mí que peque yo contra Jehová cesando de rogar por vosotros; antes bien, os instruiré en el camino bueno y recto.

24 o nly, fear ye Jehovah, and ye have served Him in truth with all your heart, for see that which He hath made great with you;

Temed solamente a Jehová y servidle de verdad con todo vuestro corazón, pues considerad cuán grandes cosas ha hecho por vosotros.

25 a nd if ye really do evil, both ye and your king are consumed.'

Mas si perseveráis en hacer mal, vosotros y vuestro rey pereceréis.
