1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the eleventh year, in the third, in the first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying:

Aconteció en el año undécimo, en el mes tercero, el día primero del mes, que vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

2 ` Son of man, say unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and unto his multitude: To whom hast thou been like in thy greatness?

Hijo de hombre, di a Faraón rey de Egipto, y a su pueblo: ¿A quién te comparaste en tu grandeza?

3 L o, Asshur, a cedar in Lebanon, Fair in branch, and shading bough, and high in stature, And between thickets hath its foliage been.

He aquí que el asirio era cedro en el Líbano, de hermosas ramas, de frondoso ramaje y de gran altura, y su copa estaba entre densas ramas.

4 W aters have made it great, The deep hath exalted him with its flowings, Going round about its planting, And its conduits it hath sent forth unto all trees of the field.

Las aguas lo hicieron crecer, lo encumbró el abismo; sus ríos corrían alrededor del lugar en que estaba plantado, y a todos los árboles del campo enviaba sus corrientes.

5 T herefore higher hath been his stature than all trees of the field, And multiplied are his boughs, and long are his branches, Because of many waters in his shooting forth,

Por tanto, se encumbró su altura sobre todos los árboles del campo, y se multiplicaron sus ramas, y a causa de las muchas aguas se alargó su ramaje que había echado.

6 I n his boughs made a nest hath every fowl of the heavens, And under his branches brought forth hath every beast of the field, And in his shade dwell do all great nations.

En sus ramas hacían nido todas las aves del cielo, y debajo de su ramaje parían todas las bestias del campo, y a su sombra habitaban todas las grandes naciones.

7 A nd he is fair in his greatness, In the length of his thin shoots, For his root hath been by great waters.

Se hizo, pues, hermoso en su grandeza con la extensión de sus ramas; porque su raíz estaba junto a muchas aguas.

8 C edars have not hid him in the garden of God, Firs have not been like unto his boughs, And chesnut-trees have not been as his branches, No tree in the garden of God hath been like unto him in his beauty,

Los cedros del jardín de Dios no lo oscurecían; los cipreses no fueron semejantes a sus ramas, ni las plataneras fueron semejantes a su ramaje; ningún árbol en el jardín de Dios fue semejante a él en su hermosura.

9 F air I have made him in the multitude of his thin shoots, And envy him do all trees of Eden that in the garden of God.

Lo hice hermoso con la multitud de sus ramas; y todos los árboles del Edén, que estaban en el jardín de Dios, tuvieron envidia de él.

10 T herefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because that thou hast been high in stature, And he yieldeth his foliage between thickets, And high is his heart in his haughtiness,

Por tanto, así dice el Señor Jehová: Ya que por ser encumbrado en altura, y haber levantado su cumbre entre densas ramas, su corazón se elevó con su altura,

11 I give him into the hand of a god of nations, He dealeth sorely with him, In his wickedness I have cast him out.

yo lo entregaré en manos del poderoso de las naciones, que de cierto le tratará según su maldad. Yo lo he desechado.

12 A nd cut him off do strangers, The terrible of nations, and they leave him, On the mountains and in all valleys have his thin shoots fallen, And broken are his boughs at all streams of the land, And go down from his shade do all peoples of the land, and they leave him.

Y lo cortan extranjeros, los más feroces de las naciones, y lo derriban; sus ramas caen sobre los montes y por todos los valles, y en todos los barrancos de la tierra yace quebrado su ramaje; y se marchan de su sombra todos los pueblos de la tierra, y lo dejan.

13 O n his ruin dwell do all fowls of the heavens, And on his boughs have been all the beasts of the field,

Sobre sus restos habitan todas las aves del cielo, y sobre sus ramas están todas las bestias del campo,

14 I n order that none of the trees of the waters May become haughty because of their stature, Nor give their foliage between thickets, Nor any drinking waters stand up unto them in their haughtiness, For all of them are given up to death, Unto the earth -- the lower part, In the midst of the sons of men, Unto those going down to the pit.

para que no se exalte en su altura ninguno de los árboles que crecen junto a las aguas, ni levante su copa entre la espesura, ni confíe en su altura ninguno de los que beben aguas; porque todos están destinados a la muerte, a lo profundo de la tierra, entre los hijos de los hombres, con los que descienden a la fosa.

15 T hus said the Lord Jehovah: In the day of his going down to sheol I have caused mourning, I have covered for him the deep, and diminish its flowings, And restrained are many waters, And I make Lebanon black for him, And all trees of the field have been covered for him.

Así dice el Señor Jehová: El día que descendió al Seol, hice al abismo guardar luto y cubrirse por él, y detuve sus ríos, y las muchas aguas quedaron estancadas; ensombrecí al Líbano por él, y todos los árboles del campo se desmayaron.

16 F rom the sound of his fall I have caused nations to shake, In My causing him to go down to sheol, With those going down to the pit, And comforted in the earth -- the lower part, are all trees of Eden, The choice and the good of Lebanon, All drinking waters.

Al estruendo de su caída hice temblar a las naciones, cuando le hice descender al Seol con todos los que descienden a la sepultura; y todos los árboles del Edén, y los escogidos entre los mejores del Líbano, todos los que beben aguas, fueron consolados en lo profundo de la tierra.

17 A lso they with him have gone down to sheol, Unto the pierced of the sword, And -- his arm -- they dwelt in his shade in the midst of nations.

También ellos descendieron con él al Seol, con los muertos a espada, los que fueron su brazo, los que estuvieron a su sombra en medio de las naciones.

18 U nto whom hast thou been thus like, In honour and in greatness among the trees of Eden, And thou hast been brought down with the trees of Eden, Unto the earth -- the lower part, In the midst of the uncircumcised thou liest, With the pierced of the sword? It Pharaoh, and all his multitude, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'

¿A quién te has comparado así en gloria y en grandeza entre los árboles del Edén? Pues derribado serás con los árboles del Edén en lo profundo de la tierra; entre los incircuncisos yacerás, con los muertos a espada. Este es Faraón y todo su pueblo, dice el Señor Jehová.
