1 T hese the words of the covenant which Jehovah hath commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, apart from the covenant which He made with them in Horeb.

Estas son las palabras del pacto que Jehová mandó a Moisés que celebrase con los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Moab, además del pacto que concertó con ellos en Horeb.

2 A nd Moses calleth unto all Israel, and saith unto them, `Ye -- ye have seen all that which Jehovah hath done before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;

Moisés, pues, llamó a todo Israel, y les dijo: Vosotros habéis visto todo lo que Jehová ha hecho delante de vuestros ojos en la tierra de Egipto a Faraón y a todos sus siervos, y a toda su tierra,

3 t he great trials which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders;

las grandes pruebas que vieron vuestros ojos, las señales y las grandes maravillas.

4 a nd Jehovah hath not given to you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, till this day,

Pero hasta hoy Jehová no os ha dado corazón para entender, ni ojos para ver, ni oídos para oír.

5 a nd I cause you to go forty years in a wilderness; your garments have not been consumed from off you, and thy shoe hath not worn away from off thy foot;

Y yo os he conducido cuarenta años en el desierto; vuestros vestidos no se han envejecido sobre vosotros, ni vuestro calzado se ha gastado sobre vuestro pie.

6 b read ye have not eaten, and wine and strong drink ye have not drunk, so that ye know that I Jehovah your God.

No habéis comido pan, ni bebisteis vino ni sidra; para que supierais que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.

7 ` And ye come in unto this place, and Sihon king of Heshbon -- also Og king of Bashan -- doth come out to meet us, to battle, and we smite them,

Y llegasteis a este lugar, y salieron Sehón rey de Hesbón y Og rey de Basán delante de nosotros para pelear, y los derrotamos;

8 a nd take their land, and give it for an inheritance to the Reubenite, and to the Gadite, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh;

y tomamos su tierra, y la dimos por heredad a Rubén y a Gad y a la media tribu de Manasés.

9 a nd ye have kept the words of this covenant, and done them, so that ye cause all that ye do to prosper.

Guardaréis, pues, las palabras de este pacto, y las pondréis por obra, para que prosperéis en todo lo que hagáis.

10 ` Ye are standing to-day, all of you, before Jehovah your God -- your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your authorities -- every man of Israel;

Vosotros todos estáis hoy en presencia de Jehová vuestro Dios; los cabezas de vuestras tribus, vuestros ancianos y vuestros oficiales, todos los varones de Israel;

11 y our infants, your wives, and thy sojourner who in the midst of thy camps, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water --

vuestros niños, vuestras mujeres, y tus extranjeros que habitan en medio de tu campamento, desde el que corta tu leña hasta el que saca tu agua;

12 f or thy passing over into the covenant of Jehovah thy God, and into His oath which Jehovah thy God is making with thee to-day;

a punto de entrar en el pacto de Jehová tu Dios, y en su juramento, que Jehová tu Dios concierta hoy contigo,

13 i n order to establish thee to-day to Him for a people, and He Himself is thy God, as He hath spoken to thee, and as He hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

para confirmarte hoy como su pueblo, y para que él te sea a ti por Dios, de la manera que él te ha dicho, y como lo juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.

14 ` And not with you alone am I making this covenant and this oath;

Y no solamente con vosotros hago yo este pacto y este juramento,

15 b ut with him who is here with us, standing to-day before Jehovah our God, and with him who is not here with us to-day,

sino con los que están aquí presentes hoy con nosotros delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, y con los que no están aquí hoy con nosotros.

16 f or ye have known how ye dwelt in the land of Egypt, and how we passed by through the midst of the nations which ye have passed by;

Porque vosotros sabéis cómo habitamos en la tierra de Egipto, y cómo hemos pasado por en medio de las naciones por las cuales habéis pasado;

17 a nd ye see their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which with them,

y habéis visto sus monstruosas abominaciones y sus ídolos de madera y piedra, de plata y oro, que tienen consigo.

18 l est there be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart is turning to-day from Jehovah our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations, lest there be in you a root fruitful of gall and wormwood:

No haya, pues, entre vosotros varón o mujer, o familia o tribu, cuyo corazón se aparte hoy de Jehová nuestro Dios, para ir a servir a los dioses de esas naciones; no haya en medio de vosotros raíz que produzca hiel y ajenjo,

19 ` And it hath been, in his hearing the words of this oath, and he hath blessed himself in his heart, saying, I have peace, though in the stubbornness of my heart I go on, in order to end the fulness with the thirst.

y suceda que al oír las palabras de esta maldición, él se bendiga a sí mismo en su corazón, diciendo: Tendré paz, aunque ande en la dureza de mi corazón, de suerte que con la embriaguez quite la sed.

20 J ehovah is not willing to be propitious to him, for then doth the anger of Jehovah smoke, also His zeal, against that man, and lain down on him hath all the oath which is written in this book, and Jehovah hath blotted out his name from under the heavens,

No querrá Jehová perdonarlo, sino que entonces se encenderá la ira de Jehová y su celo sobre el tal hombre, y se asentará sobre él toda maldición escrita en este libro, y Jehová borrará su nombre de debajo del cielo;

21 a nd Jehovah hath separated him for evil, out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the oaths of the covenant which is written in this book of the law.

y lo apartará Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel para su desgracia, conforme a todas las maldiciones del pacto escrito en este libro de la ley.

22 ` And the latter generation of your sons who rise after you, and the stranger who cometh in from a land afar off, have said when they have seen the strokes of that land, and its sicknesses which Jehovah hath sent into it, --

Y dirán las generaciones venideras, vuestros hijos que se levanten después de vosotros, y el extranjero que vendrá de lejanas tierras, cuando vean las plagas de aquella tierra, y sus enfermedades de las que Jehová la habrá hecho enfermar

23 ( brimstone and salt is the whole land burnt, it is not sown, nor doth it shoot up, nor doth there go up on it any herb, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which Jehovah overturned in His anger, and in His fury,) --

(azufre y sal, tierra quemada, eso es su tierra entera; no será sembrada, ni producirá, ni crecerá en ella hierba alguna, como sucedió en la destrucción de Sodoma y de Gomorra, de Admá y de Zeboim, las cuales Jehová destruyó en su furor y en su ira);

24 y ea, all the nations have said, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus to this land? what the heat of this great anger?

y aún, todas las naciones preguntarán: ¿Por qué hizo esto Jehová a esta tierra? ¿Qué significa el ardor de esta gran ira?

25 ` And they have said, Because that they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah, God of their fathers, which He made with them in His bringing them out of the land of Egypt,

Y responderán: Por cuanto dejaron el pacto de Jehová el Dios de sus padres, que él concertó con ellos cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto,

26 a nd they go and serve other gods, and bow themselves to them -- gods which they have not known, and which He hath not apportioned to them;

y fueron y sirvieron a dioses ajenos, y se inclinaron a ellos, dioses a los que no conocían, y que ninguna cosa les habían dado.

27 a nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against that land, to bring in on it all the reviling that is written in this book,

Por eso, se encendió la ira de Jehová contra esta tierra, para traer sobre ella todas las maldiciones escritas en este libro;

28 a nd Jehovah doth pluck them from off their ground in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath, and doth cast them unto another land, as this day.

y Jehová los desarraigó de su tierra con ira, con furor y con grande indignación, y los ha arrojado a otro país, donde hoy están.

29 ` The things hidden to Jehovah our God, and the things revealed to us and to our sons -- to the age, to do all the words of this law.

Las cosas secretas pertenecen a Jehová nuestro Dios; mas las reveladas son para nosotros y para nuestros hijos para siempre, para que cumplamos todas las palabras de esta ley.
