1 A nd before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour hath come, that he may remove out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own who in the world -- to the end he loved them.

Antes de la fiesta de la pascua, sabiendo Jesús que su hora había llegado para que pasase de este mundo al Padre, habiendo amado a los suyos que estaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin.

2 A nd supper being come, the devil already having put into the heart of Judas of Simon, Iscariot, that he may deliver him up,

Y cuando cenaban, como el diablo ya había puesto en el corazón de Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, que le entregase,

3 J esus knowing that all things the Father hath given to him -- into hands, and that from God he came forth, and unto God he goeth,

sabiendo Jesús que el Padre le había dado todas las cosas en las manos, y que había salido de Dios, y a Dios iba,

4 d oth rise from the supper, and doth lay down his garments, and having taken a towel, he girded himself;

se levantó de la cena, y se quitó su manto, y tomando una toalla, se la ciñó.

5 a fterward he putteth water into the basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe with the towel with which he was being girded.

Luego puso agua en un lebrillo, y comenzó a lavar los pies de los discípulos, y a enjugarlos con la toalla con que estaba ceñido.

6 H e cometh, therefore, unto Simon Peter, and that one saith to him, `Sir, thou -- dost thou wash my feet?'

Llegó, pues, a Simón Pedro; y Pedro le dijo: Señor, ¿tú me lavas los pies a mí?

7 J esus answered and said to him, `That which I do thou hast not known now, but thou shalt know after these things;'

Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Lo que yo hago, tú no lo comprendes ahora; mas lo entenderás después.

8 P eter saith to him, `Thou mayest not wash my feet -- to the age.' Jesus answered him, `If I may not wash thee, thou hast no part with me;'

Pedro le dijo: No me lavarás los pies jamás. Jesús le respondió: Si no te lavo, no tendrás parte conmigo.

9 S imon Peter saith to him, `Sir, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.'

Le dijo Simón Pedro: Señor, no sólo mis pies, sino también las manos y la cabeza.

10 J esus saith to him, `He who hath been bathed hath no need save to wash his feet, but he is clean altogether; and ye are clean, but not all;'

Jesús le dijo: El que está lavado, no necesita sino lavarse los pies, pues está todo limpio; y vosotros estáis limpios, aunque no todos.

11 f or he knew him who is delivering him up; because of this he said, `Ye are not all clean.'

Porque sabía quién le iba a entregar; por eso dijo: No todos estáis limpios.

12 W hen, therefore, he washed their feet, and took his garments, having reclined (at meat) again, he said to them, `Do ye know what I have done to you?

Después que les lavó los pies, tomó su manto, se puso de nuevo a la mesa, y les dijo: ¿Sabéis lo que os he hecho?

13 y e call me, The Teacher and The Lord, and ye say well, for I am;

Vosotros me llamáis Maestro, y Señor; y decís bien, porque lo soy.

14 i f then I did wash your feet -- the Lord and the Teacher -- ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

Pues si yo, el Señor y el Maestro, he lavado vuestros pies, vosotros también debéis lavaros los pies los unos a los otros.

15 ` For an example I gave to you, that, according as I did to you, ye also may do;

Porque os he dado ejemplo, para que como yo os he hecho, vosotros también hagáis así.

16 v erily, verily, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor an apostle greater than he who sent him;

De cierto, de cierto os digo: El siervo no es mayor que su señor, ni el enviado es mayor que el que le envió.

17 i f these things ye have known, happy are ye, if ye may do them;

Si sabéis estas cosas, dichosos sois si las ponéis en práctica.

18 n ot concerning you all do I speak; I have known whom I chose for myself; but that the Writing may be fulfilled: He who is eating the bread with me, did lift up against me his heel.

No hablo de todos vosotros; yo sé a quienes he elegido; mas para que se cumpla la Escritura: El que come pan conmigo, levantó contra mí su calcañar.

19 ` From this time I tell you, before its coming to pass, that, when it may come to pass, ye may believe that I am;

Desde ahora os lo digo antes que suceda, para que cuando suceda, creáis que yo soy.

20 v erily, verily, I say to you, he who is receiving whomsoever I may send, doth receive me; and he who is receiving me, doth receive Him who sent me.'

De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que recibe al que yo envíe, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió. Jesús anuncia la traición de Judas

21 T hese things having said, Jesus was troubled in the spirit, and did testify, and said, `Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will deliver me up;'

Habiendo dicho Jesús esto, se turbó en su interior, y dio testimonio, diciendo: De cierto, de cierto os digo, que uno de vosotros me va a entregar.

22 t he disciples were looking, therefore, one at another, doubting concerning whom he speaketh.

Entonces los discípulos se miraban unos a otros, dudando de quién hablaba.

23 A nd there was one of his disciples reclining (at meat) in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;

Y uno de sus discípulos, al cual Jesús amaba, estaba recostado al lado de Jesús.

24 S imon Peter, then, doth beckon to this one, to inquire who he may be concerning whom he speaketh,

A éste, pues, hizo señas Simón Pedro, para que preguntase quién era aquel de quien hablaba.

25 a nd that one having leant back on the breast of Jesus, respondeth to him, `Sir, who is it?'

Él, entonces, recostándose cerca del pecho de Jesús, le dijo: Señor, ¿quién es?

26 J esus answereth, `That one it is to whom I, having dipped the morsel, shall give it;' and having dipped the morsel, he giveth to Judas of Simon, Iscariot.

Respondió Jesús: A quien yo dé el pan mojado, aquél es. Y mojando el pan, lo dio a Judas Iscariote hijo de Simón.

27 A nd after the morsel, then the Adversary entered into that one, Jesus, therefore, saith to him, `What thou dost -- do quickly;'

Y después del bocado, entró Satanás en él. Entonces Jesús le dijo: Lo que vas a hacer, hazlo más pronto.

28 a nd none of those reclining at meat knew for what intent he said this to him,

Pero ninguno de los que estaban a la mesa entendió por qué le dijo esto.

29 f or certain were thinking, since Judas had the bag, that Jesus saith to him, `Buy what we have need of for the feast;' or that he may give something to the poor;

Porque algunos pensaban, puesto que Judas tenía la bolsa, que Jesús le decía: Compra lo que necesitamos para la fiesta; o que diese algo a los pobres.

30 h aving received, therefore, the morsel, that one immediately went forth, and it was night.

Cuando él, pues, tomó el bocado, salió en seguida; y era de noche. El nuevo mandamiento

31 W hen, therefore, he went forth, Jesus saith, `Now was the Son of Man glorified, and God was glorified in him;

Luego que salió, dijo Jesús: Ahora ha sido glorificado el Hijo del Hombre, y Dios ha sido glorificado en él.

32 i f God was glorified in him, God also will glorify him in Himself; yea, immediately He will glorify him.

Si Dios ha sido glorificado en él, Dios también le glorificará en sí mismo, y en seguida le glorificará.

33 ` Little children, yet a little am I with you; ye will seek me, and, according as I said to the Jews -- Whither I go away, ye are not able to come, to you also I do say now.

Hijitos, aún estaré con vosotros un poco. Me buscaréis; pero como dije a los judíos, así os digo ahora a vosotros: Adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir.

34 ` A new commandment I give to you, that ye love one another; according as I did love you, that ye also love one another;

Un mandamiento nuevo os doy: Que os améis unos a otros; como yo os he amado, que también os améis unos a otros.

35 i n this shall all know that ye are my disciples, if ye may have love one to another.'

En esto conocerán todos que sois mis discípulos, si tenéis amor los unos con los otros. Jesús anuncia la negación de Pedro

36 S imon Peter saith to him, `Sir, whither dost thou go away?' Jesus answered him, `Whither I go away, thou art not able now to follow me, but afterward thou shalt follow me.'

Le dijo Simón Pedro: Señor, ¿adónde vas? Jesús le respondió: Adonde yo voy, no me puedes seguir ahora; mas me seguirás más tarde.

37 P eter saith to him, `Sir, wherefore am I not able to follow thee now? my life for thee I will lay down;'

Le dijo Pedro: Señor, ¿por qué no te puedo seguir ahora? Mi vida pondré por ti.

38 J esus answered him, `Thy life for me thou wilt lay down! verily, verily, I say to thee, a cock will not crow till thou mayest deny me thrice.'

Jesús le respondió: ¿Tu vida pondrás por mí? De cierto, de cierto te digo: No cantará el gallo, antes que me hayas negado tres veces.
