1 A nd having risen, the whole multitude of them did lead him to Pilate,

Levantándose entonces toda la muchedumbre de ellos, le condujeron a Pilato.

2 a nd began to accuse him, saying, `This one we found perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying himself to be Christ a king.'

Y comenzaron a acusarle, diciendo: Hemos hallado a éste pervirtiendo a la nación, prohibiendo dar tributo a César, y diciendo que él mismo es Cristo rey.

3 A nd Pilate questioned him, saying, `Thou art the king of the Jews?' and he answering him, said, `Thou dost say.'

Entonces Pilato le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos? Y respondiéndole él, dijo: Tú lo dices.

4 A nd Pilate said unto the chief priests, and the multitude, `I find no fault in this man;'

Y Pilato dijo a los principales sacerdotes, y a la gente: Ningún delito hallo en este hombre.

5 a nd they were the more urgent, saying -- `He doth stir up the people, teaching throughout the whole of Judea -- having begun from Galilee -- unto this place.'

Pero ellos porfiaban, diciendo: Solivianta al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí. Jesús ante Herodes

6 A nd Pilate having heard of Galilee, questioned if the man is a Galilean,

Entonces Pilato, oyendo decir Galilea, preguntó si el hombre era galileo.

7 a nd having known that he is from the jurisdiction of Herod, he sent him back unto Herod, he being also in Jerusalem in those days.

Y al percatarse de que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes, le remitió a Herodes, que en aquellos días estaba también en Jerusalén.

8 A nd Herod having seen Jesus did rejoice exceedingly, for he was wishing for a long to see him, because of hearing many things about him, and he was hoping some sign to see done by him,

Herodes, al ver a Jesús, se alegró mucho, porque hacía bastante tiempo que deseaba verle; porque había oído muchas cosas acerca de él, y esperaba verle hacer alguna señal.

9 a nd was questioning him in many words, and he answered him nothing.

Y le hacía muchas preguntas, pero él nada le respondió.

10 A nd the chief priests and the scribes stood vehemently accusing him,

Y estaban los principales sacerdotes y los escribas acusándole con gran vehemencia.

11 a nd Herod with his soldiers having set him at nought, and having mocked, having put around him gorgeous apparel, did send him back to Pilate,

Entonces Herodes con sus soldados, después de menospreciarle y escarnecerle, le vistió de una ropa espléndida; y volvió a enviarle a Pilato.

12 a nd both Pilate and Herod became friends on that day with one another, for they were before at enmity between themselves.

Y se hicieron amigos Pilato y Herodes aquel día; porque antes estaban enemistados entre sí. Jesús, sentenciado a muerte

13 A nd Pilate having called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people,

Entonces Pilato, convocando a los principales sacerdotes, a los gobernantes, y al pueblo,

14 s aid unto them, `Ye brought to me this man as perverting the people, and lo, I before you having examined, found in this man no fault in those things ye bring forward against him;

les dijo: Me habéis presentado a este hombre como alborotador del pueblo; pero habiéndole interrogado yo delante de vosotros, no he hallado en este hombre ningún delito de los que le acusáis.

15 n o, nor yet Herod, for I sent you back unto him, and lo, nothing worthy of death is having been done by him;

Ni tampoco Herodes; porque os remití a él; y he aquí que nada digno de muerte ha hecho él.

16 h aving chastised, therefore, I will release him,'

Le soltaré, pues, después de castigarle.

17 f or it was necessary for him to release to them one at every feast,

Y tenía necesidad de soltarles uno en cada fiesta.

18 a nd they cried out -- the whole multitude -- saying, `Away with this one, and release to us Barabbas,'

Pero toda la multitud dio voces a una, diciendo: ¡Fuera con ése, y suéltanos a Barrabás!

19 w ho had been, because of a certain sedition made in the city, and murder, cast into prison.

El cual había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición ocurrida en la ciudad, y por un homicidio.

20 P ilate again then -- wishing to release Jesus -- called to them,

Les habló otra vez Pilato, queriendo soltar a Jesús;

21 b ut they were calling out, saying, `Crucify, crucify him.'

pero ellos persistían en dar voces, diciendo: ¡Crucifícale, crucifícale!

22 A nd he a third time said unto them, `Why, what evil did he? no cause of death did I find in him; having chastised him, then, I will release.'

Él les dijo por tercera vez: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho éste? Ningún delito digno de muerte he hallado en él; le castigaré, pues, y le soltaré.

23 A nd they were pressing with loud voices asking him to be crucified, and their voices, and those of the chief priests, were prevailing,

Mas ellos instaban a grandes voces, pidiendo que fuese crucificado. Y las voces de ellos y de los principales sacerdotes prevalecieron.

24 a nd Pilate gave judgment for their request being done,

Entonces Pilato sentenció que se hiciese lo que ellos pedían;

25 a nd he released him who because of sedition and murder hath been cast into the prison, whom they were asking, and Jesus he gave up to their will.

y les soltó a aquel que había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición y homicidio, a quien habían pedido; y entregó a Jesús a la voluntad de ellos. Crucifixión y muerte de Jesucristo

26 A nd as they led him away, having taken hold on Simon, a certain Cyrenian, coming from the field, they put on him the cross, to bear behind Jesus.

Y cuando lo llevaban, tomaron a cierto Simón de Cirene, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase tras Jesús.

27 A nd there was following him a great multitude of the people, and of women, who also were beating themselves and lamenting him,

Y le seguía gran multitud del pueblo, y de mujeres que se dolían y se lamentaban por él.

28 a nd Jesus having turned unto them, said, `Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but for yourselves weep ye, and for your children;

Pero Jesús, vuelto hacia ellas, les dijo: Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloréis por mí, sino llorad por vosotras mismas y por vuestros hijos.

29 f or, lo, days do come, in which they shall say, Happy the barren, and wombs that did not bare, and paps that did not give suck;

Porque he aquí que vendrán días en que dirán: Dichosas las estériles, y los vientres que no concibieron, y los pechos que no criaron.

30 t hen they shall begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us, and to the hills, Cover us; --

Entonces comenzarán a decir a los montes: Caed sobre nosotros; y a los collados: Cubridnos.

31 f or, if in the green tree they do these things -- in the dry what may happen?'

Porque si en el leño verde hacen estas cosas, ¿qué sucederá con el seco?

32 A nd there were also others -- two evil-doers -- with him, to be put to death;

Llevaban también a otros dos, que eran malhechores, para ser ejecutados con él.

33 a nd when they came to the place that is called Skull, there they crucified him and the evil-doers, one on the right hand and one on the left.

Y cuando llegaron al lugar llamado de la Calavera, allí le crucificaron a él, y a los malhechores, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda.

34 A nd Jesus said, `Father, forgive them, for they have not known what they do;' and parting his garments they cast a lot.

Y Jesús decía: Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen. Y repartieron entre sí sus vestidos, echando suertes.

35 A nd the people were standing, looking on, and the rulers also were sneering with them, saying, `Others he saved, let him save himself, if this be the Christ, the choice one of God.'

Y el pueblo estaba de pie, mirando; y aun los gobernantes se burlaban de él, diciendo: A otros salvó; sálvese a sí mismo, si éste es el Cristo, el escogido de Dios.

36 A nd mocking him also were the soldiers, coming near and offering vinegar to him,

También los soldados le escarnecían, acercándose y ofreciéndole vinagre,

37 a nd saying, `If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.'

y diciendo: Si tú eres el Rey de los judíos, sálvate a ti mismo.

38 A nd there was also a superscription written over him, in letters of Greek, and Roman, and Hebrew, `This is the King of the Jews.'

Había también una inscripción sobre él, escrita con letras griegas, latinas y hebreas: ÉSTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDÍOS.

39 A nd one of the evil-doers who were hanged, was speaking evil of him, saying, `If thou be the Christ, save thyself and us.'

Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate a ti mismo y a nosotros.

40 A nd the other answering, was rebuking him, saying, `Dost thou not even fear God, that thou art in the same judgment?

Respondiendo el otro, le reprendía, diciendo: ¿Ni siquiera temes tú a Dios, viendo que estás bajo la misma sentencia de condenación?

41 a nd we indeed righteously, for things worthy of what we did we receive back, but this one did nothing out of place;'

Nosotros, a la verdad, justamente, porque estamos recibiendo lo que merecieron nuestros hechos; pero éste no ha hecho nada impropio.

42 a nd he said to Jesus, `Remember me, lord, when thou mayest come in thy reign;'

Y decía a Jesús: Señor, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en tu reino.

43 a nd Jesus said to him, `Verily I say to thee, To-day with me thou shalt be in the paradise.'

Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo: Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.

44 A nd it was, as it were, the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land till the ninth hour,

Cuando era como la hora sexta, hubo tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora novena.

45 a nd the sun was darkened, and the vail of the sanctuary was rent in the midst,

Y el sol se oscureció, y el velo del templo se rasgó por la mitad.

46 a nd having cried with a loud voice, Jesus said, `Father, to Thy hands I commit my spirit;' and these things having said, he breathed forth the spirit.

Y Jesús, clamando a gran voz, dijo: Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu. Y habiendo dicho esto, expiró.

47 A nd the centurion having seen what was done, did glorify God, saying, `Really this man was righteous;'

Cuando el centurión vio lo que había acontecido, dio gloria a Dios, diciendo: Realmente, este hombre era justo.

48 a nd all the multitudes who were come together to this sight, beholding the things that came to pass, smiting their breasts did turn back;

Y toda la multitud de los que habían acudido a este espectáculo, viendo lo que había acontecido, se volvían golpeándose el pecho.

49 a nd all his acquaintances stood afar off, and women who did follow him from Galilee, beholding these things.

Pero estaban de pie a distancia todos sus conocidos, y las mujeres que le habían seguido desde Galilea, mirando estas cosas. Jesús es sepultado

50 A nd lo, a man, by name Joseph, being a counsellor, a man good and righteous,

Había un hombre llamado José, el cual era miembro del consejo, varón bueno y justo,

51 - - he was not consenting to their counsel and deed -- from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who also himself was expecting the reign of God,

(el cual no había consentido en el acuerdo ni en los hechos de ellos), de Arimatea, ciudad de los judíos, el cual también estaba esperando el reino de Dios.

52 h e, having gone near to Pilate, asked the body of Jesus,

Éste fue a Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.

53 a nd having taken it down, he wrapped it in fine linen, and placed it in a tomb hewn out, where no one was yet laid.

Y descolgándolo, lo envolvió en una sábana, y lo puso en un sepulcro excavado en roca, en el cual aún no se había puesto a nadie.

54 A nd the day was a preparation, and sabbath was approaching,

Era el día de la Preparación, y estaba para comenzar el sábado.

55 a nd the women also who have come with him out of Galilee having followed after, beheld the tomb, and how his body was placed,

Y las mujeres que habían venido con él desde Galilea, siguieron también, y vieron el sepulcro, y cómo fue puesto su cuerpo.

56 a nd having turned back, they made ready spices and ointments, and on the sabbath, indeed, they rested, according to the command.

Y regresando, prepararon especias aromáticas y ungüentos; y descansaron el sábado, conforme al mandamiento.
