1 ` And we turn, and journey into the wilderness, the way of the Red Sea, as Jehovah hath spoken unto me, and we go round the mount of Seir many days.

Luego volvimos y salimos al desierto, camino del Mar Rojo, como Jehová me había dicho; y rodeamos el monte de Seír por mucho tiempo.

2 ` And Jehovah speaketh unto me, saying,

Y Jehová me habló, diciendo:

3 E nough to you -- is the going round of this mount; turn for yourselves northward.

Bastante habéis rodeado este monte; volveos al norte.

4 ` And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing over into the border of your brethren, sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, and they are afraid of you; and ye have been very watchful,

Y manda al pueblo, diciendo: Pasando vosotros por el territorio de vuestros hermanos los hijos de Esaú, que habitan en Seír, ellos tendrán miedo de vosotros; mas vosotros guardaos mucho.

5 y e do not strive with them, for I do not give to you of their land even the treading of the sole of a foot; for a possession to Esau I have given mount Seir.

No os metáis con ellos, porque no os daré de su tierra ni aun lo que cubre la planta de un pie; porque yo he dado por heredad a Esaú el monte de Seír.

6 ` Food ye buy from them with money, and have eaten; and also water ye buy from them with money, and have drunk,

Compraréis de ellos por dinero los alimentos que comáis; y hasta compraréis de ellos el agua que bebáis,

7 f or Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hands; He hath known thy walking in this great wilderness these forty years; Jehovah thy God with thee; thou hast not lacked anything.

pues Jehová tu Dios te ha bendecido en toda obra de tus manos; él sabe que andas por este gran desierto; y hace ya cuarenta años que Jehová tu Dios ha estado contigo, y nada te ha faltado.

8 ` And we pass by from our brethren, sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, by the way of the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-Gaber; and we turn, and pass over the way of the wilderness of Moab;

Pasamos, pues, de largo el territorio de nuestros hermanos los hijos de Esaú, que habitaban en Seír, por el camino del Arabá desde Elat y Esyón-géber; y volvimos, y tomamos el camino del desierto de Moab.

9 a nd Jehovah saith unto me, Do not distress Moab, nor stir thyself up against them battle, for I do not give to thee of their land a possession; for to the sons of Lot I have given Ar a possession.'

Y Jehová me dijo: No molestes a Moab, ni te empeñes con ellos en guerra, porque no te daré posesión de su tierra; porque yo he dado a Ar por heredad a los hijos de Lot.

10 ` The Emim formerly have dwelt in it, a people great, and numerous, and tall, as the Anakim;

(Los emitas habitaron en ella antes, pueblo grande y numeroso, y alto como los hijos de Anac.

11 R ephaim they are reckoned, they also, as the Anakim; and the Moabites call them Emim.

Por gigantes eran ellos tenidos también, como los hijos de Anac; y los moabitas los llaman emitas.

12 A nd in Seir have the Horim dwelt formerly; and the sons of Esau dispossess them, and destroy them from before them, and dwell in their stead, as Israel hath done to the land of his possession, which Jehovah hath given to them;

Y en Seír habitaron antes los horeos, a los cuales echaron los hijos de Esaú; y los arrojaron de su presencia, y habitaron en lugar de ellos, como hizo Israel en la tierra que les dio Jehová por posesión.)

13 n ow, rise ye, and pass over for yourselves the brook Zered; and we pass over the brook Zered.

Levantaos ahora, y pasad el arroyo de Zéred. Y pasamos el arroyo de Zéred.

14 ` And the days which we have walked from Kadesh-Barnea until that we have passed over the brook Zered, thirty and eight years, till the consumption of all the generation of the men of battle from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah hath sworn to them;

Y los días que anduvimos de Cadés-barnea hasta cuando pasamos el arroyo de Zéred fueron treinta y ocho años; hasta que se acabó toda la generación de los hombres de guerra de en medio del campamento, como Jehová les había jurado.

15 a nd also the hand of Jehovah hath been against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, till they are consumed.

Y también la mano de Jehová vino sobre ellos para destruirlos de en medio del campamento, hasta acabarlos.

16 ` And it cometh to pass, when all the men of battle have finished dying from the midst of the people,

Y aconteció que después que murieron todos los hombres de guerra de entre el pueblo,

17 t hat Jehovah speaketh unto me, saying,

Jehová me habló, diciendo:

18 T hou art passing over to-day the border of Moab, even Ar,

Tú pasarás hoy la frontera de Moab, a Ar,

19 a nd thou hast come near over-against the sons of Ammon, thou dost not distress them, nor stir up thyself against them, for I do not give of the land of the sons of Ammon to thee a possession; for to the sons of Lot I have given it a possession.

y cuando te acerques a los hijos de Amón, no los molestes, ni contiendas con ellos; porque no te daré posesión de la tierra de los hijos de Amón, pues a los hijos de Lot la he dado por heredad.

20 ` A land of Rephaim it is reckoned, even it; Rephaim dwelt in it formerly, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;

(Por tierra de gigantes fue también ella tenida; habitaron en ella gigantes en otro tiempo, a los cuales los amonitas llamaban zomzomeos;

21 a people great, and numerous, and tall, as the Anakim, and Jehovah destroyeth them before them, and they dispossess them, and dwell in their stead,

pueblo grande y numeroso, y alto, como los hijos de Anac; a los cuales Jehová destruyó delante de los amonitas. Éstos sucedieron a aquéllos, y habitaron en su lugar,

22 a s He hath done for the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, when He destroyed the Horim from before them, and they dispossess them, and dwell in their stead, unto this day.

como hizo Jehová con los hijos de Esaú que habitaban en Seír, delante de los cuales destruyó a los horeos; y ellos sucedieron a éstos, y habitaron en su lugar hasta hoy.

23 ` As to the Avim who are dwelling in Hazerim unto Azzah, the Caphtorim -- who are coming out from Caphtor -- have destroyed them, and dwell in their stead.

Y a los aveos que habitaban en aldeas hasta Gaza, los caftoreos que salieron de Caftor los destruyeron, y habitaron en su lugar.)

24 ` Rise ye, journey and pass over the brook Arnon; see, I have given into thy hand Sihon king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land; begin to possess, and stir up thyself against him battle.

Levantaos, salid, y pasad el arroyo de Arnón; he aquí he entregado en tu mano a Sehón rey de Hesbón, amorreo, y a su tierra; comienza a tomar posesión de ella, y entra en guerra con él.

25 T his day I begin to put thy dread and thy fear on the face of the peoples under the whole heavens, who hear thy fame, and have trembled and been pained because of thee.

Hoy comenzaré a poner tu temor y tu espanto sobre los pueblos debajo de todo el cielo, los cuales oirán tu fama, y temblarán y se angustiarán delante de ti. Conquista del reino de Sehón

26 ` And I send messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth, unto Sihon king of Heshbon, -- words of peace -- saying,

Y envié mensajeros desde el desierto de Cademot a Sehón rey de Hesbón con palabras de paz, diciendo:

27 L et me pass over through thy land; in the several ways I go; I turn not aside -- right or left --

Voy a pasar por tu tierra; seguiré el camino sin desviarme ni a izquierda ni a derecha.

28 f ood for money thou dost sell me, and I have eaten; and water for money thou dost give to me, and I have drunk; only, let me pass over on my feet, --

Véndeme por dinero la comida que consuma; y el agua también la pagaré; solamente déjanos pasar a pie,

29 a s the sons of Esau who are dwelling in Seir, and the Moabites who are dwelling in Ar, have done to me -- till that I pass over the Jordan, unto the land which Jehovah our God is giving to us.

como lo hicieron conmigo los hijos de Esaú que habitaban en Seír, y los moabitas que habitaban en Ar; hasta que cruce el Jordán a la tierra que nos da Jehová nuestro Dios.

30 ` And Sihon king of Heshbon hath not been willing to let us pass over by him, for Jehovah thy God hath hardened his spirit, and strengthened his heart, so as to give him into thy hand as at this day.

Mas Sehón rey de Hesbón no quiso que pasásemos por el territorio suyo; porque Jehová tu Dios había endurecido su espíritu, y obstinado su corazón para entregarlo en tu mano, como lo está todavía hoy.

31 ` And Jehovah saith unto me, See, I have begun to give before thee Sihon and his land; begin to possess -- to possess his land.

Y me dijo Jehová: He aquí yo he comenzado a entregar delante de ti a Sehón y a su tierra; comienza a tomar posesión de ella para que la heredes.

32 ` And Sihon cometh out to meet us, he and all his people, to battle to Jahaz;

Y nos salió Sehón al encuentro, él y todo su pueblo, y nos presentó batalla en Jahás.

33 a nd Jehovah our God giveth him before us, and we smite him, and his sons, and all his people;

Mas Jehová nuestro Dios lo entregó delante de nosotros; y lo derrotamos a él y a sus hijos, y a todo su pueblo.

34 a nd we capture all his cities at that time, and devote the whole city, men, and the women, and the infants -- we have not left a remnant;

Tomamos entonces todas sus ciudades, y las destruimos con sus hombres, mujeres y niños; no dejamos ninguno.

35 o nly, the cattle we have spoiled for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we have captured.

Solamente tomamos para nosotros los ganados, y los despojos de las ciudades que habíamos tomado.

36 ` From Aroer, which by the edge of the brook Arnon, and the city which by the brook, even unto Gilead there hath not been a city which too high for us; the whole hath Jehovah our God given before us.

Desde Aroer, que está junto a la ribera del arroyo de Arnón, y la ciudad que está en el valle, hasta Galaad, no hubo ciudad que escapase de nosotros; todas las entregó Jehová nuestro Dios en nuestro poder.

37 ` Only, unto the land of the sons of Ammon thou hast not drawn near, any part of the brook Jabbok, and cities of the hill-country, and anything which Jehovah our God hath commanded.

Solamente a la tierra de los hijos de Amón no llegamos; ni a todo lo que está a la orilla del torrente de Jaboc ni a las ciudades del monte, ni a lugar alguno que Jehová nuestro Dios había prohibido.
