1 W o the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim. And the fading flower of the beauty of his glory, That on the head of the fat valley of the broken down of wine.

¡Ay de la corona de soberbia de los ebrios de Efraín, y de la flor caduca de la hermosura de su gloria, que está sobre la cabeza del valle fértil de los aturdidos por el vino!

2 L o, a mighty and strong one to the Lord, As a storm of hail -- a destructive shower, As an inundation of mighty waters overflowing, He cast down to the earth with the hand.

He aquí, Jehová tiene uno que es fuerte y poderoso; como turbión de granizo y como torbellino trastornador, como ímpetu de recias aguas que inundan; él derriba a tierra con una mano.

3 B y feet trodden down is the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,

Con los pies será pisoteada la corona de soberbia de los ebrios de Efraín.

4 A nd the fading flower of the beauty of his glory That on the head of the fat valley, Hath been as its first-fruit before summer, That its beholder seeth, While it yet in his hand he swalloweth it.

Y la flor caduca de la hermosura de su gloria que está sobre la cabeza del valle fértil, será como la fruta temprana de la higuera, la que precede al verano, la cual, apenas la ve el que la mira, se la traga tan luego como la tiene a mano.

5 I n that day is Jehovah of Hosts For a crown of beauty, and for a diadem of glory, To the remnant of His people.

En aquel día Jehová de los ejércitos será por corona de gloria y diadema de hermosura al remanente de su pueblo;

6 A nd for a spirit of judgment To him who is sitting in the judgment, And for might those turning back the battle to the gate.

y por espíritu de juicio al que se sienta en juicio, y por fuerzas a los que rechazan en la puerta a los atacantes.

7 A nd even these through wine have erred, And through strong drink have wandered, Priest and prophet erred through strong drink, They have been swallowed up of the wine, They wandered because of the strong drink, They have erred in seeing, They have stumbled judicially.

Pero también éstos desvarían con el vino, y con el licor se entontecen; el sacerdote y el profeta desvarían por el licor, están trastornados por el vino; se aturdieron con el licor, desvarían en sus visiones, titubean en sus decisiones.

8 F or all tables have been full of vomit, Filth -- without place!

Porque toda mesa está llena de vómito y suciedad, hasta no haber lugar limpio.

9 B y whom doth He teach knowledge? And by whom doth He cause to understand the report? The weaned from milk, the removed from breasts,

¿A quién se enseñará conocimiento, o a quién se hará entender el mensaje? ¿A los destetados?, ¿a los recién retirados de los pechos?

10 F or rule on rule, rule on rule, line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there,

Porque mandamiento tras mandamiento, mandato sobre mandato, renglón tras renglón, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá;

11 F or by scorned lip, and by another tongue, Doth He speak unto this people.

porque en lengua de tartamudos, y en extraña lengua se hablará a este pueblo,

12 U nto whom He hath said, `This the rest, give ye rest to the weary, And this -- the refreshing:' And they have not been willing to hear,

al cual se dijo: Éste es el lugar de reposo; dad reposo al cansado; y éste es el lugar de refrigerio; mas no quisieron escuchar.

13 A nd to whom a word of Jehovah hath been, Rule on rule, rule on rule, line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there, So that they go and have stumbled backward, And been broken, and snared, and captured.

La palabra, pues, de Jehová les será: mandamiento tras mandamiento, mandato sobre mandato, renglón tras renglón, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá; de modo que vayan a caerse de espaldas, y sean quebrantados, caigan en la trampa y queden apresados.

14 T herefore, hear a word of Jehovah, ye men of scorning, Ruling this people that in Jerusalem.

Por tanto, vosotros los burladores, los falsos trovadores de este pueblo que está en Jerusalén, oíd la palabra de Jehová.

15 B ecause ye have said: `We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a provision, An overflowing scourge, when it passeth over, Doth not meet us, Though we have made a lie our refuge, And in falsehood have been hidden.'

Por cuanto habéis dicho: Tenemos hecho un pacto con la muerte, e hicimos un convenio con el Seol; cuando pase el turbión del azote, no llegará a nosotros, porque hemos puesto nuestro refugio en la mentira, y en la falsedad nos esconderemos;

16 T herefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: `Lo, I am laying a foundation in Zion, A stone -- a tried stone, a corner stone precious, a settled foundation, He who is believing doth not make haste.

por tanto, Jehová el Señor dice así: He aquí que yo pongo en Sión por fundamento una piedra, piedra probada, angular, preciosa, de cimiento estable; el que crea en ella, no vacilará.

17 A nd I have put judgment for a line, And righteousness for a plummet, And sweep away doth hail the refuge of lies, And the secret hiding-place do waters overflow.

Pondré la justicia como cordel, y la rectitud como plomada; el granizo barrerá el refugio de la mentira, y las aguas inundarán el escondrijo.

18 A nd disannulled hath been your covenant with death, And your provision with Sheol doth not stand, An overflowing scourge, when it passeth over, Then ye have been to it for a treading-place.

Y será anulado vuestro pacto con la muerte, y vuestro convenio con el Seol no será firme; cuando pase el turbión del azote, seréis pisoteados por él.

19 F rom the fulness of its passing over it taketh you, For morning by morning it passeth over, By day and by night, And it hath been only a trembling to consider the report.

Tantas veces como pase, os arrebatará; porque mañana tras mañana pasará, de día y de noche; y será un terrible espanto el entender el mensaje.

20 F or shorter hath been the bed Than to stretch one's self out in, And the covering hath been narrower Than to wrap one's self up in.

La cama será corta para poder estirarse, y la manta estrecha para poder envolverse.

21 F or as mount Perazim rise doth Jehovah, As the valley in Gibeon He is troubled, To do His work -- strange His work, And to do His deed -- strange His deed.'

Porque Jehová se levantará como en el monte Perazim, como en el valle de Gibeón se enojará; para hacer su obra, su extraña obra, y para realizar su tarea, su extraña tarea.

22 A nd now, show not yourselves scorners, Lest strong be your bands, For a consumption, that is determined, I have heard, by the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, for all the land.

Ahora, pues, no os burléis, para que no se aprieten más vuestras ataduras; porque una destrucción ya determinada sobre toda la tierra he oído del Señor, Jehová de los ejércitos. Tribulación, mas no destrucción

23 G ive ear, and hear my voice, Attend, and hear my saying:

Estad atentos, y escuchad mi voz; atended, y oíd mi dicho.

24 T he whole day plougheth the ploughman to sow? He openeth and harroweth his ground!

El que ara para sembrar, ¿arará todo el día? ¿Romperá y quebrará los terrones de la tierra?

25 H ath he not, if he have made level its face, Then scattered fitches, and cummin sprinkle, And hath placed the principal wheat, And the appointed barley, And the rie its own border?

Cuando ha igualado su superficie, ¿no derrama el eneldo, siembra el comino, pone el trigo en hileras, y la cebada en el lugar señalado, y la avena en su borde apropiado?

26 A nd instruct him for judgment doth his God, He doth direct him.

Porque su Dios le instruye, y le enseña lo recto;

27 F or not with a sharp-pointed thing threshed are fitches, And the wheel of a cart on cummin turned round, For with a staff beaten out are fitches, And cummin with a rod.

que el eneldo no se trilla con trillo, ni sobre el comino se pasa rueda de carreta; sino que con un palo se sacude el eneldo, y el comino con una vara.

28 B read- is beaten small, For not for ever doth he sorely thresh it, Nor crushed hath a wheel of his cart, Nor do his hoofs beat it small.

¿Se tritura el grano? No, no lo triturará para siempre, y aunque haga pasar sobre él con ruido las ruedas de su carreta y los cascos de sus caballos, no lo aplastará.

29 E ven this from Jehovah of Hosts hath gone out, He hath made counsel wonderful, He hath made wisdom great!

También esto salió de Jehová de los ejércitos, maravilloso en sus designios y grandioso en sabiduría.
