1 C ome up hath a scatterer to thy face, Keep the bulwark, watch the way, Strengthen the loins, strengthen power mightily.

Un destructor sube contra ti; monta guardia en la fortaleza, vigila el camino, cíñete los lomos, concentra todo tu poder.

2 F or turned back hath Jehovah to the excellency of Jacob, As the excellency of Israel, For emptied them out have emptiers, And their branches they have marred.

Porque Jehová restaurará la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel; porque saqueadores los saquearon, y estropearon sus sarmientos.

3 T he shield of his mighty ones is become red, Men of might scarlet, With fiery torches the chariot in a day of his preparation, And the firs have been caused to tremble.

El escudo de sus valientes está pintado de rojo, los varones de su ejército vestidos de grana; sus carros como fuego de antorchas; el día que se prepare, temblarán los cipreses.

4 I n out-places shine do the chariots, They go to and fro in broad places, Their appearances like torches, As lightnings they run.

Los carros se precipitarán a las plazas, con estruendo rodarán por las calles; su aspecto será como antorchas encendidas, correrán como relámpagos.

5 H e doth remember his honourable ones, They stumble in their goings, They hasten its wall, and prepared is the covering.

Pasará revista a sus valientes; se atropellarán en su marcha; se apresurarán a su muro, y se preparará el parapeto.

6 G ates of the rivers have been opened, And the palace is dissolved.

Las puertas de los ríos se abrirán, y el palacio será destruido.

7 A nd it is established -- she hath removed, She hath been brought up, And her handmaids are leading as the voice of doves, Tabering on their hearts.

Y la soberana será descubierta y deportada, y sus criadas la llevarán gimiendo como palomas, golpeándose el pecho.

8 A nd Nineveh as a pool of waters, From of old it -- and they are fleeing! `Stand ye, stand;' and none is turning!

Fue Nínive de tiempo antiguo como estanque de aguas que se escapan. Dicen: ¡Deteneos, deteneos!; pero ninguno mira atrás.

9 S eize ye silver, seize ye gold, And there is no end to the prepared things, the abundance of all desirable vessels.

Saquead la plata, saquead el oro; no tienen fin los tesoros; es una riqueza inmensa de toda clase de efectos codiciables.

10 S he is empty, yea, emptiness and waste, And the heart hath melted, And the knees have smitten together, And great pain in all loins, And the faces of all of them have gathered paleness.

Destrozo, saqueo y devastación; corazones que desfallecen; temblor de rodillas, dolor en los riñones, rostros demudados.

11 W here the habitation of lionesses? And a feeding-place it for young lions Where walked hath a lion, an old lion, A lion's whelp, and there is none troubling.

¿Qué es de la guarida de los leones, y de la majada de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogía el león y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien los espantase?

12 T he lion is tearing parts his whelps, And is strangling for his lionesses, And he doth fill prey his holes, And his habitations rapine.

El león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas, y llenaba de presa sus cavernas, y de rapiña sus guaridas. Destrucción total de Nínive

13 L o, I against thee, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I have burned in smoke its chariot, And thy young lions consume doth a sword, And I have cut off from the land thy prey, And not heard any more is the voice of thy messengers!

Heme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Encenderé y reduciré a humo tus carros, y la espada devorará a tus leoncillos; y cortaré de la tierra tus rapiñas, y nunca más se oirá la voz de tus mensajeros.
