1 W ho doth make my head waters, And mine eye a fountain of tears? And I weep by day and by night, For the wounded of the daughter of my people.

¡Oh, si mi cabeza se hiciese aguas, y mis ojos fuentes de lágrimas, para que llorase día y noche los muertos de la hija de mi pueblo!

2 W ho doth give me in a wilderness A lodging-place of travellers? And I leave my people, and go from them, For all of them adulterers, An assembly of treacherous ones.

¡Oh, quién me diese estar en el desierto, en un albergue de caminantes, para dejar a mi pueblo, y marcharme de ellos! Porque todos ellos son adúlteros, una banda de traidores.

3 A nd they bend their tongue, their bow a lie, And not for stedfastness have they been mighty in the land, For from evil unto evil they have gone forth, And Me they have not known, An affirmation of Jehovah!

Hicieron que su lengua lanzara mentira como un arco, y se fortalecieron en la tierra, pero no para ser fieles; porque de maldad en maldad procedieron, y me han desconocido, dice Jehová.

4 E ach of his friend -- beware ye, And on any brother, do not trust, For every brother doth utterly supplant, For every friend slanderously doth walk,

Guárdese cada uno de su compañero, y en ningún hermano tenga confianza; porque todo hermano actúa con falacia, y todo compañero anda calumniando.

5 A nd each at his friend they mock, And truth they do not speak, They taught their tongue to speak falsehood, To commit iniquity they have laboured.

Y cada uno engaña a su compañero, y ninguno habla verdad; han enseñado a su lengua a hablar mentira, se fatigan en cometer iniquidad.

6 t hy dwelling in the midst of deceit, Through deceit they refused to know Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Tu morada está en medio del engaño; por ser tan engañadores, rehusaron conocerme, dice Jehová.

7 T herefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Lo, I am refining them, and have tried them, For how do I do because of the daughter of My people?

Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo los refinaré y los probaré; porque ¿qué otra cosa he de hacer por la hija de mi pueblo?

8 A slaughtering arrow their tongue, Deceit it hath spoken in its mouth, Peace with its neighbour it speaketh, And in its heart it layeth its ambush,

Saeta afilada es la lengua de ellos; engaño habla; con su boca dice uno paz a su amigo, pero le tiende insidias en su corazón.

9 F or these things do not I see after them? An affirmation of Jehovah, Against a nation such as this doth not My soul avenge itself?

¿No los he de castigar por estas cosas?, dice Jehová. De tal nación, ¿no se vengará mi alma?

10 F or the mountains I lift up weeping and wailing, And for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, For they have been burnt up without any passing over, Nor have they heard the voice of cattle, From the fowl of the heavens unto the beast they have fled, they have gone.

Por los montes levantaré llanto y gemido, y lamento por los pastizales del desierto; porque fueron incendiados hasta no quedar quien pase, ni oírse el bramido del ganado; desde las aves del cielo hasta las bestias de la tierra huyeron, y se fueron.

11 A nd I make Jerusalem become heaps, A habitation of dragons, And the cities of Judah I make a desolation, Without inhabitant.

Reduciré a Jerusalén a un montón de ruinas, morada de chacales; y convertiré las ciudades de Judá en desolación, sin que quede un morador. Amenaza de ruina y exilio

12 W ho the wise man? and he understandeth this, And he to whom the mouth of Jehovah spake? And he doth declare it, For what hath the land perished? It hath been burnt up as a wilderness, Without any passing through.

¿Quién es el varón sabio que pueda entender esto?; ¿y a quién habló la boca de Jehová, para que pueda declararlo? ¿Por qué causa ha perecido la tierra, ha sido asolada como un desierto, hasta no haber quien pase?

13 A nd Jehovah saith: Because of their forsaking My law that I set before them, And they have not hearkened to My voice nor walked in it,

Y dice Jehová: Porque dejaron mi ley, la cual puse delante de ellos, y no obedecieron a mi voz, ni caminaron conforme a ella;

14 A nd they walk after the stubbornness of their heart, And after the Baalim, that their fathers taught them,

sino que se fueron tras la terquedad de su corazón, y en pos de los baales, según les enseñaron sus padres.

15 T herefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am causing them -- this people -- to eat wormwood, And I have caused them to drink water of gall,

Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que a este pueblo yo les daré a comer ajenjo, y les daré a beber aguas de hiel.

16 A nd I have scattered them among nations Which they knew not, they and their fathers, And have sent after them the sword, Till I have consumed them.

Y los esparciré entre naciones que ni ellos ni sus padres conocieron; y enviaré la espada en pos de ellos, hasta que los consuma.

17 T hus said Jehovah of Hosts: Consider ye, and call for mourning women, And they come, And to the wise women send, and they come,

Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Considerad, y llamad a las plañideras para que vengan; buscad a las hábiles en el oficio, para que vengan,

18 A nd they hasten, and lift up for us a wailing. And run down our eyes do tears, And from our eyelids do waters flow.

y dense prisa, y levanten llanto por nosotros, y desháganse así nuestros ojos en lágrimas, y nuestros párpados den libre curso al llanto.

19 F or -- a voice of wailing is heard from Zion: How have we been spoiled! We have been greatly ashamed, Because we have forsaken the land, Because they have cast down our tabernacles.

Porque de Sión fue oída voz de endecha: ¡Cómo hemos sido destruidos! En gran manera hemos sido avergonzados, porque abandonamos la tierra, porque han destruido nuestras moradas.

20 B ut hear, ye women, a word of Jehovah, And your ear receiveth a word of His mouth, And teach ye your daughters wailing, and each her neighbour lamentation.

Oíd, pues, oh mujeres, palabra de Jehová, y vuestro oído reciba la palabra de su boca: Enseñad endechas a vuestras hijas, y lamentación cada una a su amiga.

21 F or death hath come up into our windows, It hath come into our palaces, To cut off the suckling from without, Young men from the broad places.

Porque la muerte ha subido por nuestras ventanas, ha entrado en nuestros palacios, para exterminar a los niños de las calles, a los jóvenes de las plazas.

22 S peak thus -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And fallen hath the carcase of man, As dung on the face of the field, And as a handful after the reaper, And there is none gathering.

Habla: Así ha dicho Jehová: Los cuerpos de los hombres muertos caerán como estiércol sobre la faz del campo, y como manojo tras el segador, que no hay quien lo recoja. El conocimiento de Dios es la verdadera sabiduría

23 T hus said Jehovah: Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his riches,

Así dijo Jehová: No se alabe el sabio en su sabiduría, ni en su valentía se alabe el valiente, ni el rico se alabe en sus riquezas.

24 B ut -- in this let the boaster boast himself, In understanding and knowing Me, For I Jehovah, doing kindness, Judgment, and righteousness, in the earth, For in these I have delighted, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Mas alábese en esto el que se hubiere de alabar: en entenderme y conocerme, que yo soy Jehová, que hago misericordia, juicio y justicia en la tierra; porque en estas cosas me complazco, dice Jehová.

25 L o, days are coming -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And I have laid a charge on all circumcised in the foreskin,

He aquí que vienen días, dice Jehová, en que castigaré a todo circuncidado en su incircuncisión;

26 O n Egypt, and on Judah, and on Edom, And on the sons of Ammon, and on Moab, And on all cutting the corner, Who are dwelling in the wilderness, For all the nations uncircumcised, And all the house of Israel uncircumcised in heart!

a Egipto y a Judá, a Edom y a los hijos de Amón y de Moab, y a todos los que se afeitan las sienes, los que moran en el desierto; porque todas las naciones son incircuncisas, y toda la casa de Israel es incircuncisa de corazón.
