1 A nd in that day Jesus, having gone forth from the house, was sitting by the sea,

Aquel mismo día, salió Jesús de la casa y se sentó junto al mar.

2 a nd gathered together unto him were many multitudes, so that he having gone into the boat did sit down, and all the multitude on the beach did stand,

Y acudió a él mucha gente, tanta que subió a sentarse en una barca, y toda la gente estaba de pie en la playa.

3 a nd he spake to them many things in similes, saying: `Lo, the sower went forth to sow,

Y les habló muchas cosas en parábolas, diciendo: He aquí que salió el sembrador a sembrar.

4 a nd in his sowing, some indeed fell by the way, and the fowls did come and devour them,

Y mientras sembraba, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves y se la comieron.

5 a nd others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang forth, through not having depth of earth,

Otra parte cayó en pedregales, donde no había mucha tierra; y brotó pronto, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra;

6 a nd the sun having risen they were scorched, and through not having root, they withered,

pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y porque no tenía raíz, se secó.

7 a nd others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns did come up and choke them,

Y otra parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron, y la ahogaron.

8 a nd others fell upon the good ground, and were giving fruit, some indeed a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.

Pero una parte cayó en tierra buena y dio fruto, una ciento, otra sesenta, otra treinta.

9 H e who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.'

El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. Propósito de las parábolas

10 A nd the disciples having come near, said to him, `Wherefore in similes dost thou speak to them?'

Entonces, acercándose los discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Por qué les hablas en parábolas?

11 A nd he answering said to them that -- `To you it hath been given to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, and to these it hath not been given,

Él respondió y les dijo: Porque a vosotros os ha sido dado conocer los misterios del reino de los cielos; mas a ellos no les ha sido dado.

12 f or whoever hath, it shall be given to him, and he shall have overabundance, and whoever hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken from him.

Porque a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará y tendrá en abundancia; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

13 ` Because of this, in similes do I speak to them, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor understand,

Por eso les hablo por parábolas: porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen, ni entienden.

14 a nd fulfilled on them is the prophecy of Isaiah, that saith, With hearing ye shall hear, and ye shall not understand, and seeing ye shall see, and ye shall not perceive,

Y se cumple en ellos la profecía de Isaías, que dijo: Ciertamente oiréis, y no entenderéis; Miraréis, y no veréis en absoluto.

15 f or made gross was the heart of this people, and with the ears they heard heavily, and their eyes they did close, lest they might see with the eyes, and with the ears might hear, and with the heart understand, and turn back, and I might heal them.

Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, Y con los oídos han oído pesadamente, Y han cerrado sus ojos, Para no ver nada con sus ojos, Y no oír con sus oídos, Y no entender con el corazón, Y convertirse, Y que yo los sane.

16 ` And happy are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear,

Pero bienaventurados vuestros ojos, porque ven; y vuestros oídos, porque oyen.

17 f or verily I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men did desire to see that which ye look on, and they did not see, and to hear that which ye hear, and they did not hear.

Porque de cierto os digo, que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que veis, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oís, y no lo oyeron. Jesús explica la parábola del sembrador

18 ` Ye, therefore, hear ye the simile of the sower:

Vosotros, pues, escuchad la parábola del sembrador:

19 E very one hearing the word of the reign, and not understanding -- the evil one doth come, and doth catch that which hath been sown in his heart; this is that sown by the way.

Cuando alguno oye el mensaje del reino y no lo entiende, viene el Maligno, y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Éste es el que fue sembrado junto al camino.

20 ` And that sown on the rocky places, this is he who is hearing the word, and immediately with joy is receiving it,

Y el que fue sembrado en pedregales, éste es el que oye la palabra, y al momento la recibe con gozo;

21 a nd he hath not root in himself, but is temporary, and persecution or tribulation having happened because of the word, immediately he is stumbled.

pero no tiene raíz en sí mismo, sino que es de corta duración, pues al venir la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la palabra, luego tropieza.

22 ` And that sown toward the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, do choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

El que fue sembrado entre espinos, éste es el que oye la palabra, pero el afán de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas ahogan la palabra, y se hace infructuosa.

23 ` And that sown on the good ground: this is he who is hearing the word, and is understanding, who indeed doth bear fruit, and doth make, some indeed a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.'

Mas el que fue sembrado en buena tierra, éste es el que oye y entiende la palabra, y da fruto; y produce a ciento, a sesenta, y a treinta por uno. Parábola del trigo y la cizaña

24 A nother simile he set before them, saying: `The reign of the heavens was likened to a man sowing good seed in his field,

Les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo;

25 a nd, while men are sleeping, his enemy came and sowed darnel in the midst of the wheat, and went away,

pero mientras dormían los hombres, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue.

26 a nd when the herb sprang up, and yielded fruit, then appeared also the darnel.

Y cuando brotó la hierba y dio fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña.

27 ` And the servants of the householder, having come near, said to him, Sir, good seed didst thou not sow in thy field? whence then hath it the darnel?

Vinieron los criados del amo y le dijeron: Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene cizaña?

28 A nd he saith to them, A man, an enemy, did this; and the servants said to him, Wilt thou, then, having gone away we may gather it up?

Él les dijo: Un enemigo ha hecho esto. Y los siervos le dijeron: ¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la arranquemos?

29 ` And he said, No, lest -- gathering up the darnel -- ye root up with it the wheat,

Él les dijo: No, no sea que al arrancar la cizaña, arranquéis también con ella el trigo.

30 s uffer both to grow together till the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the darnel, and bind it in bundles, to burn it, and the wheat gather up into my storehouse.'

Dejad crecer juntas las dos cosas hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega, les diré a los segadores: Recoged primero la cizaña, y atadla en manojos para quemarla; pero el trigo recogedlo en mi granero. Parábola de la semilla de mostaza

31 A nother simile he set before them, saying: `The reign of the heavens is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, did sow in his field,

Les propuso otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a un grano de mostaza, que un hombre tomó y lo sembró en su campo;

32 w hich less, indeed, is than all the seeds, but when it may be grown, is greatest of the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven do come and rest in its branches.'

el cual a la verdad es menor que todas las semillas; pero cuando ha crecido, es mayor que las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, de tal manera que vienen las aves del cielo y hacen nidos en sus ramas. Parábola de la levadura

33 A nother simile spake he to them: `The reign of the heavens is like to leaven, which a woman having taken, hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.'

Les dijo otra parábola: El reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y la escondió en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo quedó fermentado. El uso que Jesucristo hace de las parábolas

34 A ll these things spake Jesus in similes to the multitudes, and without a simile he was not speaking to them,

Todo esto habló Jesús en parábolas a la gente, y sin parábolas no les hablaba nada,

35 t hat it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying, `I will open in similes my mouth, I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world.'

de modo que se cumpliese lo dicho por medio del profeta, cuando dijo: Abriré en parábolas mi boca; Declararé cosas escondidas desde la fundación del mundo. Jesucristo explica la parábola de la cizaña

36 T hen having let away the multitudes, Jesus came to the house, and his disciples came near to him, saying, `Explain to us the simile of the darnel of the field.'

Entonces, Jesús dejó marchar a la gente y se fue a casa; y acercándose a él sus discípulos, le dijeron: Explícanos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.

37 A nd he answering said to them, `He who is sowing the good seed is the Son of Man,

Él respondió y les dijo: El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del Hombre.

38 a nd the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, and the darnel are the sons of the evil one,

El campo es el mundo; la buena semilla son los hijos del reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del Maligno.

39 a nd the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers.

El enemigo que la sembró es el diablo; la siega es el fin del mundo; y los segadores son los ángeles.

40 ` As, then, the darnel is gathered up, and is burned with fire, so shall it be in the full end of this age,

Así, pues, como se recoge la cizaña, y se quema en el fuego, así será en el fin del mundo.

41 t he Son of Man shall send forth his messengers, and they shall gather up out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing the unlawlessness,

Enviará el Hijo del Hombre a sus ángeles, y recogerán de su reino todo lo que sirve de tropiezo, y a los que hacen iniquidad,

42 a nd shall cast them to the furnace of the fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes.

43 ` Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the reign of their Father. He who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.

Entonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. El tesoro escondido

44 ` Again, the reign of the heavens is like to treasure hid in the field, which a man having found did hide, and from his joy goeth, and all, as much as he hath, he selleth, and buyeth that field.

Además, el reino de los cielos es semejante a un tesoro escondido en un campo, que, encontrándolo un hombre, lo esconde; y gozoso por ello, va, vende todo lo que tiene, y compra aquel campo. La perla de gran precio

45 ` Again, the reign of the heavens is like to a man, a merchant, seeking goodly pearls,

También es semejante el reino de los cielos a un mercader que busca perlas finas,

46 w ho having found one pearl of great price, having gone away, hath sold all, as much as he had, and bought it.

y habiendo hallado una perla de gran valor, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía, y la compró. La red

47 ` Again, the reign of the heavens is like to a net that was cast into the sea, and did gather together of every kind,

Asimismo el reino de los cielos es semejante a una red que se echa al mar y recoge peces de toda clase;

48 w hich, when it was filled, having drawn up again upon the beach, and having sat down, they gathered the good into vessels, and the bad they did cast out,

y una vez llena, la sacan a la orilla, se sientan, recogen los buenos en cestas y tiran los malos.

49 s o shall it be in the full end of the age, the messengers shall come forth and separate the evil out of the midst of the righteous,

Así será en el fin del mundo: saldrán los ángeles, y separarán a los malos de entre los justos,

50 a nd shall cast them to the furnace of the fire, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.'

y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes.

51 J esus saith to them, `Did ye understand all these?' They say to him, `Yes, sir.'

¿Habéis entendido estas cosas?, les dijo Jesús. Ellos respondieron: Sí, Señor.

52 A nd he said to them, `Because of this every scribe having been discipled in regard to the reign of the heavens, is like to a man, a householder, who doth bring forth out of his treasure things new and old.'

Él les dijo: Por eso, todo escriba que ha sido hecho discípulo del reino de los cielos es semejante a un amo de casa, que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas. Jesucristo en Nazaret

53 A nd it came to pass, when Jesus finished these similes, he removed thence,

Aconteció que cuando terminó Jesús estas parábolas, se fue de allí.

54 a nd having come to his own country, he was teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and were saying, `Whence to this one this wisdom and the mighty works?

Y llegando a su pueblo, les enseñaba en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que se quedaban asombrados, y decían: ¿De dónde tiene esa sabiduría y esos prodigios?

55 i s not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos Jacobo, José, Simón y Judas?

56 a nd his sisters -- are they not all with us? whence, then, to this one all these?'

Y sus hermanas ¿no viven todas entre nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, le viene todo esto?

57 a nd they were stumbled at him. And Jesus said to them, `A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, and in his own house:'

Y se escandalizaban de él. Pero Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su casa.

58 a nd he did not there many mighty works, because of their unbelief.

Y no hizo allí muchos milagros, a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.
