1 A nd on the first of the sabbaths, Mary the Magdalene doth come early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she seeth the stone having been taken away out of the tomb,

El primer día de la semana, María Magdalena fue de madrugada, siendo aún oscuro, al sepulcro; y vio quitada la piedra del sepulcro.

2 s he runneth, therefore, and cometh unto Simon Peter, and unto the other disciple whom Jesus was loving, and saith to them, `They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we have not known where they laid him.'

Entonces corrió, y fue a Simón Pedro y al otro discípulo, aquel al que amaba Jesús, y les dijo: Se han llevado del sepulcro al Señor, y no sabemos dónde le han puesto.

3 P eter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb,

Salieron, pues, Pedro y el otro discípulo, y fueron al sepulcro.

4 a nd the two were running together, and the other disciple did run forward more quickly than Peter, and came first to the tomb,

Corrían los dos juntos; pero el otro discípulo corrió más aprisa que Pedro, y llegó primero al sepulcro.

5 a nd having stooped down, seeth the linen clothes lying, yet, indeed, he entered not.

Y bajándose a mirar, vio los lienzos colocados en el suelo, pero no entró.

6 S imon Peter, therefore, cometh, following him, and he entered into the tomb, and beholdeth the linen clothes lying,

Luego llegó Simón Pedro tras él, y entró en el sepulcro, y vio los lienzos colocados en el suelo,

7 a nd the napkin that was upon his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;

y el sudario, que había estado sobre la cabeza de Jesús, no puesto con los lienzos, sino enrollado en un lugar aparte.

8 t hen, therefore, entered also the other disciple who came first unto the tomb, and he saw, and did believe;

Entonces entró también el otro discípulo, que había venido primero al sepulcro; y vio, y creyó.

9 f or not yet did they know the Writing, that it behoveth him out of the dead to rise again.

Porque aún no habían entendido la Escritura, que era menester que él resucitase de los muertos.

10 T he disciples therefore went away again unto their own friends,

Y volvieron los discípulos a los suyos. Jesús se aparece a María Magdalena

11 a nd Mary was standing near the tomb, weeping without; as she was weeping, then, she stooped down to the tomb, and beholdeth two messengers in white, sitting,

Pero María estaba fuera llorando junto al sepulcro; y mientras lloraba, se inclinó para mirar dentro del sepulcro;

12 o ne at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid.

y vio a dos ángeles con vestiduras blancas, que estaban sentados el uno a la cabecera, y el otro a los pies, donde el cuerpo de Jesús había sido colocado.

13 A nd they say to her, `Woman, why dost thou weep?' she saith to them, `Because they took away my Lord, and I have not known where they laid him;'

Y le dijeron: Mujer, ¿por qué lloras? Les dijo: Porque se han llevado a mi Señor, y no sé dónde le han puesto.

14 a nd these things having said, she turned backward, and seeth Jesus standing, and she had not known that it is Jesus.

Dicho esto, se volvió, y vio a Jesús que estaba allí; mas no sabía que era Jesús.

15 J esus saith to her, `Woman, why dost thou weep? whom dost thou seek;' she, supposing that he is the gardener, saith to him, `Sir, if thou didst carry him away, tell me where thou didst lay him, and I will take him away;'

Jesús le dijo: Mujer, ¿por qué lloras? ¿A quién buscas? Ella, pensando que era el hortelano, le dijo: Señor, si tú lo has llevado, dime dónde lo has puesto, y yo lo llevaré.

16 J esus saith to her, `Mary!' having turned, she saith to him, `Rabbouni;' that is to say, `Teacher.'

Jesús le dijo: ¡María! Volviéndose ella, le dijo: ¡Rabuní! (que quiere decir, Maestro).

17 J esus saith to her, `Be not touching me, for I have not yet ascended unto my Father; and be going on to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and to your God.'

Jesús le dijo: Suéltame, porque aún no he subido a mi Padre; mas ve a mis hermanos, y diles: Subo a mi Padre y a vuestro Padre, a mi Dios y a vuestro Dios.

18 M ary the Magdalene cometh, telling to the disciples that she hath seen the Lord, and these things he said to her.

Fue entonces María Magdalena para dar a los discípulos las nuevas de que había visto al Señor, y que él le había dicho estas cosas. Jesús se aparece a los discípulos

19 I t being, therefore, evening, on that day, the first of the sabbaths, and the doors having been shut where the disciples were assembled, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, `Peace to you;'

Al atardecer de aquel mismo día, el primero de la semana, estando las puertas cerradas en el lugar donde los discípulos estaban reunidos por miedo a los judíos, vino Jesús, se puso en medio y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

20 a nd this having said, he shewed them his hands and side; the disciples, therefore, rejoiced, having seen the Lord.

Y, dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Y los discípulos se regocijaron viendo al Señor.

21 J esus, therefore, said to them again, `Peace to you; according as the Father hath sent me, I also send you;'

Entonces Jesús les dijo otra vez: Paz a vosotros. Como me envió el Padre, así también yo os envío.

22 a nd this having said, he breathed on, and saith to them, `Receive the Holy Spirit;

Y habiendo dicho esto, sopló, y les dijo: Recibid el Espíritu Santo.

23 i f of any ye may loose the sins, they are loosed to them; if of any ye may retain, they have been retained.'

A quienes remitiereis los pecados, les son remitidos; y a quienes se los retuviereis, les quedan retenidos. Incredulidad de Tomás

24 A nd Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came;

Pero Tomás, uno de los doce, llamado el Mellizo, no estaba con ellos cuando vino Jesús.

25 t he other disciples, therefore, said to him, `We have seen the Lord;' and he said to them, `If I may not see in his hands the mark of the nails, and may put my finger to the mark of the nails, and may put my hand to his side, I will not believe.'

Le dijeron, pues, los otros discípulos: Hemos visto al Señor. Él les dijo: Si no veo en sus manos la señal de los clavos, y meto mi dedo en el lugar de los clavos, y meto mi mano en su costado, no creeré de ningún modo.

26 A nd after eight days, again were his disciples within, and Thomas with them; Jesus cometh, the doors having been shut, and he stood in the midst, and said, `Peace to you!'

Ocho días después, estaban otra vez sus discípulos dentro, y con ellos Tomás. Llegó Jesús, estando las puertas cerradas, y se puso en medio y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

27 t hen he saith to Thomas, `Bring thy finger hither, and see my hands, and bring thy hand, and put to my side, and become not unbelieving, but believing.'

Luego dijo a Tomás: Pon aquí tu dedo, y mira mis manos; y acerca tu mano, y métela en mi costado; y no seas incrédulo, sino creyente.

28 A nd Thomas answered and said to him, `My Lord and my God;'

Entonces Tomás respondió y le dijo: ¡Señor mío, y Dios mío!

29 J esus saith to him, `Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed; happy those not having seen, and having believed.'

Jesús le dijo: Porque me has visto, Tomás, has creído; bienaventurados los que no vieron, y creyeron. El propósito del libro

30 M any indeed, therefore, other signs also did Jesus before his disciples, that are not written in this book;

Hizo además Jesús muchas otras señales en presencia de sus discípulos, las cuales no están escritas en este libro.

31 a nd these have been written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life in his name.'

Pero éstas se han escrito para que creáis que Jesús es el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios, y para que creyendo, tengáis vida en su nombre.
