1 A s the former time made light The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, So the latter hath honoured the way of the sea, Beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

Mas no habrá ya más oscuridad para la que está ahora en angustia, tal como la aflicción que le vino en el pasado a la tierra de Zabulón y a la tierra de Neftalí; pues al fin llenará de gloria el camino del mar, de aquel lado del Jordán, en Galilea de los gentiles.

2 T he people who are walking in darkness Have seen a great light, Dwellers in a land of death-shade, Light hath shone upon them.

El pueblo que andaba en tinieblas ha visto una gran luz; a los que moraban en tierra de sombra de muerte les ha comenzado a brillar la luz.

3 T hou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast made great its joy, They have joyed before Thee as the joy in harvest, As rejoice in their apportioning spoil.

Multiplicaste la nación, y aumentaste la alegría. Se alegran delante de ti como se alegran en la siega, como se gozan cuando reparten los despojos.

4 B ecause the yoke of its burden, And the staff of its shoulder, the rod of its exactor, Thou hast broken as the day of Midian.

Porque tú quebraste su pesado yugo, la vara de su hombro y el cetro de su opresor, como en el día de Madián.

5 F or every battle of a warrior with rushing, and raiment rolled in blood, And it hath been for burning -- fuel of fire.

Porque toda bota que calza el guerrero en la batalla, y todo manto revolcado en sangre, serán quemados, pasto del fuego.

6 F or a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

Porque un niño nos ha nacido, un hijo nos es dado, y el principado sobre su hombro; y se llamará su nombre: Admirable, Consejero, Dios fuerte, Padre eterno, Príncipe de paz.

7 T o the increase of the princely power, And of peace, there is no end, On the throne of David, and on his kingdom, To establish it, and to support it, In judgment and in righteousness, Henceforth, even unto the age, The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts doth this.

Lo dilatado de su imperio y la paz no tendrán límite, sobre el trono de David y sobre su reino, para restaurarlo y consolidarlo en juicio y en justicia desde ahora y para siempre. El celo de Jehová de los ejércitos realizará esto. El juicio de Jehová contra Israel

8 A word hath the Lord sent into Jacob, And it hath fallen in Israel.

El Señor profirió una palabra en Jacob, y cayó en Israel.

9 A nd the people have known -- all of it, Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, In pride and in greatness of heart, saying,

Y la sabrá todo el pueblo, Efraín y los moradores de Samaria, que con soberbia y con altivez de corazón dicen:

10 ` Bricks have fallen, and hewn work we build, Sycamores have been cut down, and cedars we renew.'

Los ladrillos cayeron, pero edificaremos con sillares; cortaron los sicómoros, pero en su lugar pondremos cedros.

11 A nd Jehovah setteth the adversaries of Rezin on high above him, And his enemies he joineth together,

Pues bien, Jehová levantará a los adversarios de Rezín contra él, y juntará a sus enemigos;

12 A ram from before, and Philistia from behind, And they devour Israel with the whole mouth. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

del oriente los sirios, y los filisteos del poniente; y a boca llena devorarán a Israel. Ni con todo eso ha cesado su furor, sino que todavía su mano está extendida.

13 A nd the people hath not turned back unto Him who is smiting it, And Jehovah of Hosts they have not sought.

Pero el pueblo no se convirtió al que lo castigaba, ni buscó a Jehová de los ejércitos.

14 A nd Jehovah cutteth off from Israel head and tail, Branch and reed -- the same day,

Por eso Jehová cortará de Israel cabeza y cola, palmera y junco en un mismo día.

15 E lder, and accepted of face, he the head, Prophet, teacher of falsehood, he the tail.

El anciano y noble de rango es la cabeza; el profeta que enseña mentira, es la cola.

16 A nd the eulogists of this people are causing to err, And its eulogised ones are consumed.

Porque los directores de este pueblo son engañadores, y los dirigidos por ellos se pierden.

17 T herefore, over its young men the Lord rejoiceth not, And its orphans, and its widows He pitieth not, For every one profane, and an evil doer, And every mouth is speaking folly. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

Por tanto, el Señor no tomará contentamiento en sus jóvenes, ni de sus huérfanos y viudas tendrá compasión; porque todos son impíos y malvados, y toda boca habla insensateces. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, sino que todavía su mano está extendida.

18 F or burned as a fire hath wickedness, Brier and thorn it devoureth, And it kindleth in thickets of the forest, And they lift themselves up, an exaltation of smoke!

Porque la maldad se encendió como fuego, zarzas y espinos devorará; y se encenderá en lo espeso del bosque, y subirá en densas espirales de humo.

19 I n the wrath of Jehovah of Hosts Hath the land been consumed, And the people is as fuel of fire; A man on his brother hath no pity,

Por la ira de Jehová de los ejércitos se abrasa la tierra, y será el pueblo como pasto del fuego; el hombre no tendrá piedad de su hermano.

20 A nd cutteth down on the right, and hath been hungry, And he devoureth on the left, And they have not been satisfied, Each the flesh of his own arm they devour.

Cada uno hurtará a la mano derecha, y tendrá hambre, y comerá a la izquierda, y no se saciará; cada cual comerá la carne de su propio brazo;

21 M anasseh -- Ephraim, and Ephraim -- Manasseh, Together they against Judah, With all this not turned back hath His anger. And still His hand is stretched out!

Manasés a Efraín, y Efraín a Manasés, y ambos a una contra Judá. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, sino que todavía su mano está extendida.
