1 A nd concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,

Pero acerca de los tiempos y de las sazones, no tenéis necesidad, hermanos, de que yo os escriba.

2 f or yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,

Porque vosotros mismos sabéis perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá del mismo modo que un ladrón en la noche.

3 f or when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail her who is with child, and they shall not escape;

Cuando estén diciendo: Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción repentina, como los dolores a la mujer encinta, y no escaparán de ningún modo.

4 a nd ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;

Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sorprenda como un ladrón.

5 a ll ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,

Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz e hijos del día; no somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.

6 s o, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,

Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás, sino velemos y seamos sobrios.

7 f or those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,

Pues los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se embriagan, de noche se embriagan.

8 a nd we, being of the day -- let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet -- a hope of salvation,

Pero nosotros, que somos del día, seamos sobrios, habiéndonos vestido con la coraza de fe y amor, y con la esperanza de salvación como yelmo.

9 b ecause God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

10 w ho did die for us, that whether we wake -- whether we sleep -- together with him we may live;

quien murió por nosotros para que, ya sea que velemos, o que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.

11 w herefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.

Por lo cual, animaos unos a otros, y edificaos unos a otros, así como lo hacéis. Pablo exhorta a los creyentes

12 A nd we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,

Os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan;

13 a nd to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;

y que los tengáis en mucha estima con amor por causa de su obra. Tened paz entre vosotros.

14 a nd we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;

También os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis a los ociosos, que alentéis a los de poco ánimo, que sostengáis a los débiles, que seáis pacientes para con todos.

15 s ee no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;

Mirad que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal; antes seguid siempre lo bueno unos para con otros, y para con todos.

16 a lways rejoice ye;

Estad siempre gozosos.

17 c ontinually pray ye;

Orad sin cesar.

18 i n every thing give thanks, for this the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.

Dad gracias en todo, porque ésta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.

19 T he Spirit quench not;

No apaguéis el Espíritu.

20 p rophesyings despise not;

No menospreciéis las profecías.

21 a ll things prove; that which is good hold fast;

Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno.

22 f rom all appearance of evil abstain ye;

Absteneos de toda especie de mal.

23 a nd the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Y el mismo Dios de paz os santifique por completo; y todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea guardado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

24 s tedfast is He who is calling you, who also will do.

Fiel es el que os llama, el cual también lo hará. Saludos y bendición final

25 B rethren, pray for us;

Hermanos, orad por nosotros.

26 s alute all the brethren in an holy kiss;

Saludad a todos los hermanos con beso santo.

27 I charge you the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;

Os conjuro por el Señor, que esta carta se lea a todos los santos hermanos.

28 t he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you! Amen.

La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén.
